  Why isn't this forum growing like reddit exjw??

  admittedly it 90% crap over there but still they are up to 80k in subscribers.

  over here it's the same half dozen or so that posts something, including myself.

  why is that?.

  The forum now consists of anti-vaxxers, conspiracy theorists, Jehovah witnesses apologists, fake religious theologians and general MEGA dipshittory.

  That is why the forum doesn't grow. Most people don't escape a cult to want to join another.

  Memory and memorization

  my son and daughter can do so.age 75 has cheated me a bit in this regard.what sort of things have you memorized (whether useful or useless)?i can recite the entire rime of the ancient mariner to this day, btw.there are many so-called tricks for remembering things that can be easily learned and i've read all or most of those books.the amusing thing about such memory is this: nobody cares!

  "why do you need to memorize when you can just use your iphone?sigh...i memorized the periodic table of elements one day at work.

  As someone who plays guitar and rather poorly, I have no idea how some of these heavy acts can remember there solos and licks. It is crazy to me, especially when the singer gets a teleprompter.

  Has anyone ever noticed that the meetings are literally designed to not remember anything that was talked about.

  I read somewhere that humans only really learn in a class setting for about 45-60 minutes at time and usually the only things that are really remembered are the first and last five minutes. JW meetings are too long and too disorganized to really have any real academic value. I can't even begin to describe how pointless an assembly is.

  I really believe they design the meeting structure to do that.

  The only thing Jehovah Witnesses and ex members are conditioned to do is to believe some kind of special knowledge that been bestowed on them. You have to be a narcissistic half wit to get involved with the religion to begin with.

  I didn't realize till the pandemic how widespread this phenomenon was. We literally have people were not even capable of passing high school biology and chemistry going on speaking tours on giving lectures about infectious diseases. It is laughable.

  in the us, the 60s and 70s was a great time to be alive except for getting drafted if you wanted to be that age.

  they were music years,  greatest movies, fun, simpler and enjoyable days—also except for the d&ugs.

  I would have loved living in the 1960s. My grandparents ( RIP) had a stack of National Geographics and Life magazines in the basement and I use to love reading them as a kid. Just like little time machines.

  the cult's dogma claims the exodus foreigners were not participants of the law covenant and use it is an antitype to prove the “other sheep” are not participants of the new covenant - wt 98 2/1 p.19, par.

  6. their demonic dogma is then enforced annually via the org's anti-christ ritual - the memorial of christ's death - to compel jw's to reject christ and the new covenant.. deuteronomy 29:10-15 screams “liars” & "offspring of vipers" at the watchtower hierarchy!.

  I always thought the so called memorial is some what of a mockery. I never really could put my finger on it till I learned the doctrine of grace and what the gospel message was.

  JW basically take the new testament, apply it to only 8 magical men in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the rest of us suckers are left working for our salvation thought our obedience and works. What a rip.

  the jw i chatted with recently directed me to matthew 24 with regards to the witnesses and highlighted matthew 24:14. i asked him what "this gospel" is.

  the only answer i got was "i'm not sure what you mean".. .

  The Gospel message is there is no work that needs to be accomplished or that can be accomplished for salvation. It is finished. Nailed to the cross with Christ. Believe what he did sufficient and live your life not being a jerkface jerk and you will be saved. It is called grace.

  Jehovah witnesses are just like every other false religion of the world. If I do this, I will be rewarded with that. That is not how it works according to the bible.

  114,000, Literal, or Symbolic?

  a poster wrote to me privately, and brought to my attention the following comment below i made a while back in regards to the 144,00 number of revelation.

  i had casually conjectured that this number was likely symbolic in line with the book of revelation being mostly symbolic in kind.

  The way I have had it explained to me was the book of revelation has a pattern.

  John would hear something - Old Testament Imagery

  John would see something - New Testament Imagery

  The premise is Jesus defeated his enemies by dying for them.

  John hears the calling of the 144,00- Old Testament military census from the book numbers.

  John sees a great crowd no one could number - Gods final convent is open to all those who believe.

  It doesn't really matter much to me anyway. Eschatology is the playground of cults and false religions anyway.

  Some people say Jehovah Witnesses are poorly educated gullible marks. Actually the least educated of all religious sects in North America if not the world.
  

  Not from what I see here. The shear brilliance of the posts in this thread sure proves this otherwise. I can't believe Ivy league medical schools are not recruiting from this very board. The research and grant money being left on the table must be in the hundreds of millions if not billions.
