by Kenneson inmy question stems from a case arising in contra coast county, california.
the state wants to release a sexually violent predator into the community of martinez, under a strict release program, including monitoring and therapy.

Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Atheists-it's their country too!! Will the silent majority accept a "moment of silence" as an alternative to a public display? If Christians are sincere they will. Respect-what a concept.

I am not sure where this is going to end.
It will end when all symbols regardless of how long they've been there(Ten Commandments statue-1959)are removed least they offend someone. This could mean the removal of the Liberty Bell with it's quote from Leviticus, the Justice figures(pagan gods Themis and Justicia), the Presidential Oath of Office, In God We Trust from our currency, and no more Pledge of Allegiance. Also, no more paid Christian holidays. No more Christmas Day time off for local, state, federal government employees. Separation of church and state doesn't get much simpler than that but I doubt if the hypocrites will see it that way.

Hi, my introduction.....finally.
by MonkeyPrincess ini have been reading posts for a while, but everytime i try and post my intro, i dont know what to say, so i suppose i will just write what comes to me.
lets see, i was born and raised in the "truth", i have never known anything else my whole life, so this is weird for me to think differently.
i was df'd about 4 years ago when i met my "worldly" husband, i have tried for the past 2 years to be reinstated, but i guess that i have not tried hard enough, according to the elders (who btw have not been very nice or loving toward me).

I would like advice from the women on this forum
by Eric ini don't believe i've ever started a topic here before.. ladies, ever wanted to play "matchmaker" or "advice for the lovelorn"?
well, i've got a situation that has me going in circles.
it's something i'm also talking about with the realtime women friends in my life, and they've been just great, but there is also huge resource of fabulous women here on jwd that will know about that other intangible aspect of our x-jw involvement and how it affects people, relationships and families, that the women i know will never quite grasp.. it is not, however, something i choose to discuss here.

Eric,
Perhaps hanging out in chat here and conversing with women who interest you would be an easier way to get to know someone. Also, make use of the private message feature. The worst that can happen is that they'll say no.

A post from Simon earlier this month concerning singles/personals here:
I've had a rethink on this and don't intend adding any singles section. My reasoning is:
It cheapens the place. It looks like a "meat market". The best way to meet people is to go out to meet them.
People would come to me to sort problems out (they do already) and I don't want to get involved. In the past people have got involved then fallen out and expect me to step in and take one side or the other. I would feel that I had some responsibility and don't want it.
Several people have met (and even married) from the forum and I think this is fantastic. I don't think successful relationships happen so much from singles areas though. People should really just get to know people during the normal course of posting. If they are attracted to each other and want to hook up? Great.
There are plenty of dating / singles / meetup sites out there that people can use.

Reckless eyeballing
by Maverick inon another treat some of the ladies commented on the married brothers hitting on them or making sexual remarks to them.
this brought back to mind the personal custom i had about not looking the sisters over when they walked by at meetings.
i would look away or down when and sister passed by.

Guys I don't think you realize how often the ladies get "hit"on. My daughter is a waitress/college student, she gets pawed at and asked out all day. I've walked through the Mall with her and heard the verbal trash coming at her. If the situation was reversed I would come to depise women if they did that to me all day everyday! And the guys that do it are usually toothless, smelly, slobs or dirt-bags, losers without two dimes to rub together, and are clueless as to treating women! Classy men don't do that sort of thing. Maverick
Hey Mav, Getting "hit" on is a fact of life. It goes in one ear and out the other. It's very hard to take these men seriously at all. These are the guys who end up in one meaningful overnight relationship after another. Who cares about them unless getting dumped on is your thang.
Watch next time you're at a bar/club or social event-the men women **really** gravitate towards. Not the chronic flirts with their tired lines or the married ones wishing they weren't. It's the men that will discreetly look you over without saying a word, make eye contact, flash a winning smile and go about his business. Back when I was in circulation this would intrigue me to no end. "Hey Classy Guy, come back here..." Women want these ones!!
I think your wife found her classy man.

Get a puppy and one of those seeing eye dog leashes for it. Put on a pair of dark sunglasses and put a sign around the neck of the puppy that says "student driver."
Works every time.
Dave
Very funny Dave. However, you're one of a few who don't need such gimmicks.
