Did being a witness bring out the best or worst?
by freedom96 ina person years ago made a comment to me, about witnesses.
they said that in their opinion, being a witness brought out the extreme in a person.. for example, if they were untrusting, they would trust less.. if they were vindictive by nature, they would become more hateful and vindictive.. if they were kind and loving, they would even be more so.. basically, whatever type of person they were, being a witness would intensify that persona.. have you found that to be true?
maybe you knew someone before they came a witness.

America/US government...a lying contradiction.
by pomegranate inthose who already walk submissively will say there is no cause for alarm.
but submissiveness is not our heritage.
the first amendment was designed to allow rebellion to remain as our heritage.

Sigh. It's a sad day when citizens of a Republic founded via Revolution are classified as hating their country when they criticise it. I don't hate my country, I would just like it returned to me. Uh oh, damn, you've made me late for my militia meeting.

And what would be 'positive'? One must first organize to affect change. Who will join me? Besides, I'm not really referring to sorrow and hardships around me. The problem is that many of us have it too good. We are content . We dont realise that we are just cogs in a machine who have been brainwashed into thinking steak, central AC and cable TV=freedom. A well fed slave is still a slave.

Explanation needed on Iraq war/oil quote....
by back2dafront incan someone explain to me what this quote really means?
i still don't quite understand how the oil business works - i don't get how falling oil prices would effect russia's economy - seems like it would be the opposite??
also, some have argued that the war w/ iraq is not about oil - does this support this or argue against it or have no relevance?

Obviously they must need money bendrr. Continuing democratic reform in Russia is by no means guaranteed, and their economy going even further down the toilet would not help things. I don't think Putin is against us on Iraq,bt he is the President of Russia and his primary resposibilty is to look after his own country's interest.

Your statement that "we are stuck with the government we have" is a symptom of the disease. There was a time when the government wasn't this all powerful monolith that couldn't be changed. I don't think the founders ever intended the federal government to take on all the roles that it does today. Our oppression is not the jackbooted kind, it's just a general over willingness to conform and accept everything the way it is. We dont have to be imprisoned, we've built our own, and whats sad is that most people don't recognise it as long as their table is full.

I think Russia's main concern is that Iraq owe's Russia quite a bit of money and they want to be assured that a post Saddam regime will honor those debt's.

How did you come into the Truth Brothers and Siste
by refiners fire inits an oldie i know.. i remember, years ago, my parents had some people around for dinner that we never talked to.
after a while we remembered why we never talked to them.
the conversation was so stilted that my father, in a long silence, resorted to this question.

It's the key document as far as what our laws are based on. The declaration of Independence is nice and all but it doesn't say much about how the gov't should function.

Glad to hear you are fat and satisfied, truthseeker. Why do people like you feel we either have to like everything about our government or leave? The fact is every tax and every law takes away some of your freedom. It's a balancing act between freedom, and promoting the common good. Some of us feel we have far too many laws and regulations imposed on us and would prefer a little less 'safety' and a little more freedom to do what I please without having to be licensed, pay a fee, ask permission, research the laws, take out insurance, hire a lawyer and everything else that goes along with taking a piss in this country. Have you noticed that no matter where you fall in the political spectrum, anytime a problem comes up, many peoples initial response is to get some type of law passed? Freedom is just a word if every action you take is regulated. We are not quite at that point yet, but I would prefer to speak out against disturbing trends now, as is my constitutional right as opposed to moving to Russia or something as you brilliantly suggested. You probably would have been a loyalist during the revolution. Why start this silly war over taxes? After all we have the english army to protect us and build roads, and hey, it's better than those folks in france. Of course the fact that I actually agree with pomegranite on something gives me pause..
