Hi princess, I like your tattoo.
My hubbie would like me to get one and other things. just don't have the guts but I talk about it and joke. It's all personal oppinion.
And culture. I would like one on my butt, saying in elven 'SPEAK FRIEND AND ENTER'
U2K now I think I'm getting to know you a bit and I am feeling rather sorry for you, do you think your going to impress G*d enough just in case He dosn't remember you so you need to add a few more brownie points just in case?
Are you thinking straight. Your not on drugs or some-thing if so PLEASE go and get some help cause you sound like you really are a nice person and I care about you, if it's the WT PLEASE get out before they screw you up any further.
I can't see any relationship with this subject, I looked it up, you did say 2Tim. ch.4 v.3
KJ-'For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lust shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;'
Amplified-'For the time is coming when[people] will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but having ears itching [for something pleasing and gratifying], they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, choosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors, they hold,'
LNT-'For there is going to come a time when people won't listen to the truth, but will go around looking for teachers who will tell them just what they want to hear.'
RS-'For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings,'
New World Translation- 'For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled;'
My friend re-read and listen carefully I think G*d is trying to speak to you. U2K, G*D is telling you, your not in sound doctrine heed His warning.
I think the thing you wanted is in the OT in Lev.
Not that I'm trying to encourage you, from making a complete arse of yourself.
This really isn't the thread for this conversation.

WANTING to Believe in God
by dobby inhas anyone had this experience?.
after letting go of my beliefs as a jw, i felt the only alternative was to be atheist.
or maybe it is just logical to there is no god when i am only listening to my mind and not my heart.

SexKitten
dobby, wow I felt like crying when i read your post.
It is only natural you feel this way Jdub or not. Only you have lost your trust in religion.
Every-one feels that emptyiness or that hole that is missing and feel that they have to fill it. Be that be with things, religion, beliefs ect..
A intellegant person looks around at the world and starts to think. and wonder what holds it all together, whats behind it. And asks why all this?
Your idea that if you believe in G*d life aint' much fun. You want to enjoy life.
I've said it before, but, we are all brainwashed to some degree. It's how you are brainwashed and how you feel in control of it, that's important.
Here's a little some-thing to help:
"There is nothing you can do to make G*d love you less, and there is nothing you can do to make G*d love you more."
All He asks of you is to let Him be your friend and love Him back, acknowledge Him and He will acknowledge you.
No tricks, and He has already paid the price for you.
He really loves you, dobby and He wants to spend eternity with you.
And He wants you to enjoy the gift of life he has given you, both here and later with Him.
He doesn't say now is going to be easy, but, He's willing to walk with you through it good and bad times.
Check it out! It's called the Good News. Find the real G*d, He's waitting for you.
lot's of love and G*d bless.
And enjoy birthdays, christmas, and easter and any celibration that you wish don't let any body keep you from the love you share with others and G*d. -

Exclusive Brethern
by badboy ini understand that exclusive brethern can't;.
share a housewall with an adjoining house belonging to a non eb.
only conduct business dealings with another member etc etc.. how exclusive can u get?
-
SexKitten
There are two group of plymouth brethern: The open and The exclusive or closed brethern.
The latter had more splits then the previous group. Doctrine is very important to the brethern so when any difference of opinions happen it usely means a split.
One of these splits that accured from the closed brethern produced a very small group by the name of Raven brethern, they are known as this because of a Mr Raven. His views were considerbly different he denied the Eternal Sonship of Christ. Then another split occured in this branch, some went off to follow a teacher who's name was Mr James Tylor, then some of those followed his son James Tylor jr.
Most consider them a CULT and most brethern groups have nothing to do with any of the Raven group because of there strange diversion of a major issue and teaching. Therefore considering best to avioding them completely. These are a very small group when compared to the rest of Bretherns world wide.
It is from this Raven group that strange ideas come out such as some forbiding certian things as avoiding computers, no flowers in the garden, ect...
Most brethern use computers in work or at home have main stream belief theology. The only difference from other main stream churches is in the conducting of church service- there is no paid pastor or preacher.
The open brethern are independant of each other, each church has a number of elders who meet the requirements of 1 Timothy. 3, Titus. 1
Decons may be appointed, but don't govern. Teaching falls to the brothers who use their gifts in different areas such as teaching ect... And of course sisters who have gifts in certain areas for women studies and ladies conferences.
The closed brethern are not independent and have a circle of fellowship, but there is no governing body over seeing it. They feel because they see most churches in ruins that they can't have elders. In stead they have some leading brothers take on this role.
In the open brethern women choose to wear headcoverings during church service. Hair length is induvidual and personal. As with everything else.
In the closed, women wear some form of head covering all the time and have long hair as respect. And they usely don't let their children eat with other secular children at school ect...
Brethern are big on witnessing, evangelising and missions. And the early churches way of breaking bread together.
There trinitarian's.
And they believe in the eternal Sonship of Christ.
And baptise by immersion, but salvation is not dependent upon this.
The closed believe in family baptisms of christian households.
Therefore on conclusion stick with the 'open brethern' and your fine. Stay 'clear' of the closed and then your less likely to fall victim of yet another CULT.
Stephanus and I spent some time in the open brethern and we still sometimes go to mission dinners at the gospel chapel that they have.
I hope this wasn't too deep...

So What Kind Of Pit People Are We?
by VioletAnai ini was standing at the mirror this morning, pondering, after squeezing a rather nasty zit, whether i should shave my pits and legs this morning.
then i pondered...nah, long pants today!
i am such a lazy thing.. there is a bonus to hairy armpits....unbeknownst to them, the opposite sex can't resist the extra pheromones (sic...probably badly) pumped out and stored in the folicles....no wonder the blokes have been falling at my feet lately.. so i think i'll stay hairy just for one more week...then see how i go.. who's with me?

Church of Nativity Burns, No Christian Outcry?
by Valis inwell, now that yasser has left, there's fires burning around the church of the nativity.
one question i have is, where is the outcry from all those that believe jesus was born there and it is indeed a holy site?
i would think they would be up in arms...some literally.
-
SexKitten
I really don't care about these Catholic holy sites or shrines, there all going to pass away any-way.
Let the Vatician deal with it, they seem to be on good ground with the muslims.
My Lord is in Heaven seated on the right hand of G*d the Father. As for Jerusalem here on earth and the dome of the rock they all can fight as much as they like over it because the Kingdom of G*d is with-in. Not here on earth.
But, I do think the Jews have the claim over the land as it is thiers. I don't remember G*d giving it to the palistians.
And I would rather a Jewish nation any day, then a muslim one.
There's a new Jerusalm and Temple awaiting me and all the saints, a real and literial place that will last forever.
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in G*d; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." John.14:1-4
'Jesus answered,"I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me..." John.14:6-7
"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down ou of heaven from G*d, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband."
Rev.21:1-3

Parallel dispensations- Moonie doctrine
by refiners fire inthe good old parallel dispensations.. equal periods of time, recalculated, to end in 1930ad (thereabouts).
guess who.. we have reviewed in detail the histories of the first and second israel as they occurred over different time periods, in different places and with roles played by different people.
yet, we can see an astonishing resemblance of time-identity when we look at them from the providential point of view.

Should we fear death?
by sleepy inshould we fear death?.
how do you feel about dying?.
after leaving the witnesses i find i am ever more aware of my own mortality.before i could comfort myself with the idea that i could be ressurected.i think the realisation that death will completly end my life , and that there was nothing afterward , was one of the most difficult things to come to terms with.. generally i don't think about it , but when some happens and i do , the idea , quite frankly scares the hell out of me.. but does death really bring the end to us?.
-
SexKitten
Yes, I think about death often. Death scares me too!
Even though I have faith in my belief, I admit I love life, I love earth. Though if I didn't have all the comfort I have it might be differant.
I suppose that's why some-one in a poor country with no pocessions with no hope in the here and now would accept Jesus with open arms.
'How much easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle then for a rich man to enter the kingdom of G*d.'
But I stand in my hope, I remind myself that I am a child of the most high G*d. I ask G*d for strengh where I fail in human weakness. I place myself in His care where I can no longer in control.
There is no lack of faith to doubt for in my doubt I search for G*d more closer. He is faithful always.
I talk to Him to counsel and comfort me, with His Spirit.
He knows what I can handle when I doubt myself.
'To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord'
Paul strong in faith, man of G*d saw death as a relief from his situation. How he felt when he knew that his time was near. I bet he was scared and relieved when it was over.
Even Jesus asked if thre was no other way, His torture and death- with the weight of what He must do.
After death is not the worry, as dying in it's self.
When our daughter died it was one place I could not go with her, I could help her no more it was as those a thread had been cut. I had been severed from her, it was final.
When I looked into her eyes the light was not there, she was not there,it was not our daughter anymore. It was a shell, it looked like her but she was not present.
When talking to her in her coffin It looked as though she could get up and walk it was unbelievable, the relisation that life can stop just like that.
When my granmother died a non-believer, one who denied the exsistance of G*d who told me she had proof that the bible was just man made and not divine. When I became a christian, much to the disgust of my family.
On her dying bed she said don't tell your mother, but I know I'm going to hell I can feel it. Then she joked and said "I'm going to hell to play poker with the devil."
She looked troubled and horrorified. I felt bad myself for I didn't know what to say to comfort her. As I was still working it out myself.
G*d does not send any-one to hell except satan and his hench men. We choose to go to hell. (Eternal seperation from G*d.)
My G*d is a holly G*d. And He isn't pappa smurf either, His a righteous and just G*d.
I know where our daughter went, as I watched her in the coffin I could see as she took her last breath and just let go and Jesus standing there taking our place, taking her hand as she took her first breath in the new life with no difficulty and sitting up seeing the face of Jesus for the first time. Just as He did when He brought the little girl back to life when He said she is not dead but only sleeping and she opened her eyes.
I knew I had one home safely.
I know she will come with Jesus and all the saints in the end of time and will recieve a new body and will dwell forever to the glory of G*d.I may fear death but I know G*d is in control.
Jesus has gone before me and conquered death for me.
As He said to the thief on the cross next to him "For today you will be with me in paradise."
Because my parents have no faith the death of their grandaughter was final, they were beyond comfort. There was no hope a eight year old exsited no more.
As the ambulance drove off with her body I said to my doctor if it wasn't for G*d and the hope he gives I know I couldn't cope.
A year later I suffered panic attacks, I found others with the same condition that were christians too!
G*d has healed me through great friends, but I still have wounds but thats life while here on earth.
It is through our suffering that brings us closer to G*d and makes us who we are and stronger.
'For naked we were born, and naked we die'
I praise G*d for all He has done.

A heavenly hope
by Dawn ini have read a number of posts in the past few weeks from people who felt they had a heavenly hope and struggled with the issue "how do i handle the memorial" or "what will my friends think".. this interests me because i struggled with quite the opposite.
i always believed i was of the earthly class and that is where my hope always was.. when i started going to a new church last year and hearing about a heavenly hope i really struggled with this.
i couldn't imagine myself going to heaven - even if for a short time until the earth is made new.

Go with Justin, Dawn.
Although don't short change you're self while here on Earth. The Bible gives us snap shots of Heaven. Do some study for yourself.
Here are some starters:
Believer and Heaven- Believers have a present and future heavenly status. We are citizens of heaven( Phil. 3:20-21 ) with a heavenly calling (Heb. 3:1 ) their names are written in heaven ( Luke. 10:20 They groan to be clothed with a resurrection body ( 2Cor. 5:1 ) The resoration of the image of G*d in human beings will be complete (1Cor. 15:45-49 ) The eternal inheritance of future blessings promised by G*d is secure (1Peter.1:4 ) we are joint heirs with Christ who has already been glorified ( Rom.8:17 )
The fulfillment of G*d's purpose-worship (rev 7:10; 11:16-18; 15:2-4 19:1-2 ) Reign with Christ in heavenly glory (2Tim.2:12; Matt.19:28; Rev.20:4,6 ) fellowship with G*d and each other ( Heb.12:22-23 ).
My favourite bible verse is
" To be absent from the body is to be present with the LORD. "So the way I precieve what G*d is saying in the bible, which, by the way we are to look at as a whole picture not just by pulling out scripture to back what we want to believe. You have to filter every-thing through what the bible saids in the whole picture (O.T & N.T ) together.
Our bodies go back to the earth but our soul lives on. Believers of Jesus Christ then go to be with G*d in Heaven until the time comes when the saints (us) come back with Jesus at the end of time. Then everyone recieves thier new bodies, living & dead -Just as Jesus did at His resurrection. Jesus was the first and has gone before us.This is a real body as Jesus demonstrated at His resurrection. Then comes the day of judgement. G*d distroys this world and all the saints go to live on the new heaven and earth. To the full glory of G*d.
This is a very simplictic way of explaining it, but gives some good starting points to look up such as New Heaven& New Earth, The Resurrection, The Day of Judgement and our Heavenly bodies ect...
To do this you need to go to a good christian bookshop, or Bible Society and buy some good study guides. Try not to depend to much on commentries as these tend to be the veiw point of the person writting them. And make sure that the books have a wide denominational view point or good cross section.
Some ideas of a good librabry for study would be a bible dictionary, a word study guide, a good study bible (most recommend an NIV) for this, a dictionary of theology,
-Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology, BakerBooks
-The complete Word Study New Testament, Zodhiates KJV
(this also has in it strong's dictionary, lexical Aids, greek concordance Translational reference index).
-The Laymans's Parallel New Testament, Zondervan
and a word study guide to the O.T.
Check your ideas with other people and listen to other peoples view points always making sure it works in with what the Bilble saids.
Hope this might help & G*d Bless...
Though the most important point is our relationship with G*D through Jesus Christ, other points we may not always agree on and that alright. We're to debate and study the scripture.
Some good reading:'Pilgram's Progress' by John Bunyan
'Bible Facts About HEAVEN Sweet Home of the Lord Jesus and Departed Saints' by Dr. John R.Ricehttp://www.dcn.davis.ca.us/~gvcc/theology_notes/theology_notes.html
