I never had a status in the hall but I was considered "exemplary" as I never missed a meeting and put in more than the national average in service each month (avg 15-20). All the while I was doing things not approved of at all by WT standards although not bad by any means. Mostly just having fun. But for me, the "double life" DESTROYED me. I would cry myself to sleep from the guilt. I'd start to feel normal again and then attend a meeting and I would spiral once I got home. I did feel better after I "confessed" to the elders but looking back its only because I was so brainwashed that I ever felt a need to be guilty over my supposed sins (by WT standards) and confess them!

How Many People are Living a Lie?
by awokenjw inone of the things i often wonder about at the meetings is how many of these people are actually living a lie or sinning in secret?
and more importantly, how do these ones stomach it?
in my case, i have secretly dated and done things disapproved by the wt with a pioneer sister in my congregation for years and we both go to the same meeting twice a week and pretend everything is perfect and nothing has happened.

I'm so very sorry for what happened. I followed your posts from the beginning and I was truly hopeful for you. It definitely is a plus to not be in a relationship with someone with a completely different set of beliefs. I wish you all the best.

I remember watching Going Clear and seeing how awful Scientology can be. I remember saying "I'd hate to be in a cult like that!" Little did I realize I was a victim too.

Hello all,
I saw this on my feed this morning and I had to share:
The billboard says: to my loved one in Scientology...call me
It was a crowdsourced project put together by a couple whose two children have "disconnected" from them (the parents) after they left the church
My heart goes out to these pained parents. It also makes me think of all the parents who are being shunned by their JW children and vice versa. My heart also breaks because I know a billboard probably wouldn't work on JWs either but when youre so desperate, everything is worth a shot.

Why do witnesses feel the need to put JW ORG on all their social media sites?
by stuckinarut2 inhave you all noticed the obsession witnesses have of putting jw.org on all their social media sites like facebook, twitter, instagram etc?.
so many put it in their bio section...like some sort of loud proclamation to other witnesses that they are righteous and spreading the message.. it's also very lazy.
now with no personal effort at all, they can just say jw.org and be "witnessing".

I am guilty of this in the past. I used to put jw.org in the little website section of the Instagram bio. I never counted it as witnessing but I had a lot of followers, many of them from when I was in high school and college. I always hoped that they'd see the great life I was living through my pictures (although much of it was staged happiness) and be curious enough to click on the link. Pretty silly thinking back on it.

Jehovah Witness vs Jehovah's Witness
by Simon inbeing brought up as a jehovah's witness means you are so used to the term that you rarely stop to think about it.. one thing i've noticed is that people unfamiliar with the religion will say "jehovah witness" (no 's) instead which i always found a bit grating.. but watching the us election, something struck me.
people are often referred to as "trump supporters", not "trump's supporters" and so on.
thinking about other things, people would say they were "united fan's", not "united's fans" and so on.. it seems weird that a group would refer to themselves as though it was someone else talking about them (in the 3rd person, if i have that right).. what do you think?

Ugh yes that (Jehovah witness) would really grind my gears! Esp when it was coming from a long time JW!! I always felt a bit uncomfortable with Jehovah's Witness too, I ended up telling others that I was "one of Jehovah's Witnesses." A bit more to say but ultimately made more sense to me grammatically.

I'm getting baptized
by BlackWolf ini know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.
my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.
i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

Don't do it, please don't do it!!! You do have a choice! Tell your parents you aren't mature enough. Or tell them you want to better understand the scriptures. Don't go into anything "apostate" but please, learn from my mistakes... Don't do it... I'm literally crying for you right now.
Its not "too late" until after you're dunked. Sit your parents down and tell them that you spoke too soon and need to think it over.

Hello friends,
I was on he ex JW Reddit page the other day and came across a posting from a woman who has become a successful author. She was raised a JW in New York and pioneered at one point in her life. She currently writing a memoir of her experiences little by little and sharing them on her website. They've been easy and enjoyable reads and I am always excited to see when she has posted the next "part". I haven't seen anyone talk about them on here yet so I thought I would pass it along :)
