i have come to the realization that ultimately, even if we have a support system, we end up in the final analysis facing all of our challenges alone.
god and/or our spirit guides and angels may be there, but how would most of us know?

I agree with Pandora, I find Dr. Phil's advice very helpful. Another one is Dr. Richard Carlson, he wrote "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff...and it's all small stuff" and "You Can Be Happy No Matter What" and some others. Excellent books to help lift you out of whatever slump you might feel yourself in. Just know that there are many of us in the same boat as you...you are not alone.

in real life i tend to be shy, but stern when i have to.
i don't really show the way that i really am.
sometimes i am moody and get anxious in social situations.
I'm much more guarded and less "talkative" on here than I am in real life. I express myself much better in real life than I do when I write stuff down. I'm much shyer here than I am in person.

I was definately #6 and sometimes the don't wanna be called on one. It's a wonder that I stayed in as long as I did. I was there physically but never there mentally or emotionally. Maybe that's why I don't have the anger that people more involved have.

I'm sitting here with my mouth hanging open. Even though I've come to the realization that this religion is "not for me". I've always thought that it couldn't be a cult, mainly because of their arguments against that fact. But after reading your post, I have completely changed my mind. Every definition that you quoted fits to a tee the JW's. I'm totally in shock. I can't wait to share this with my hubby. He's inactive but still thinks it's the truth, bless his heart.

it amazeses me just how many people have stopped going to meetings or get disfellowshiped yet still believe it is the truth and live under a burden of guilt for many years.. should we not be targeting these ones as they one day in a low emotional state will probably drift back to their "mother org"?.
i know of many people who left the truth even for more than 20 years and then went back.. they in all that time never looked at or came across any information to help them.. one of my friends went out of the truth over 10 years ago( he was not baptised), he then started studying about 2 years ago , got baptised a then within a year left again because he realised it was wrong.yet in all that time before he never came across any info to show it wasn't the truth and now has to go through all the hassle of leaving after being baptised.. so is there a way to target those who have left or been disfellowshipped?.

I personally think that nobody should ever be targeted for anything. People are going to believe what they want to believe until they are ready not to. I know, because I just recently was open to informing myself on other beliefs and opinions. My husband on the other hand has not been to a meeting for quite some time and still believes it's the truth and thinks that apostates are wack jobs. However he just says that he doesn't want to be a witness anymore, but doesn't want to be anti-witness. He respects my stand and I respect his.

got the news through the week that a victim of a fatal bashing was a 22-year old jw.
apparently he was a very soft and fragile sort of a guy, but when his group confronted by another leaving the movies he got pushed/hit and hit his head on the ground.
he sufferd brain damage and later died.. a very sad event for everyone who knew him and i'm sure it somthing of regret for everyone that an apparently decent guy was so unexpectedly killed just going to the movies at the local cinima.. here's a local news report: http://www.thewest.com.au/20020207/news/state/tw-news-state-home-sto43432.html
That is such a trajedy. I don't know about where you all live but I live in a suburb of Atlanta and the movie theatre has become somewhat of a dangerous place to go on a Friday or Saturday night. When you go there it looks like you just walked on the set of a Rap video. And these teenagers will sneak into movies and run up and down the stairs chasing each other and hollering and pretty much disrupting the whole movie.
I knew of a young group of witnesses who were shot at in the parking lot for no reason, luckily they were not hit, but their car was.
This kind of thing makes me so damn angry, I guess because I feel so helpless as to how to stop it.
