by Ron.W. ina slightly tongue in cheek, but also serious roundup of jw speak and why trying to reason with them is like trying to chip through concrete with a plastic spoon.. how many can you think of??.
elder: 'yes.
i read through the material you asked me to at your judicial meeting - you're right we're both in a cult!

Jeffrey Jackson: Too much excitement got in the way for the ''false dates''
by RULES & REGULATIONS inannual meeting 2019—talks and 2020 year textthe governing body members are nothing but a bunch of weasels.
here is a talk by jeffrey jackson on how the governing body ''the slave class'' has remained spiritually awake over 100 years and alerted its members.. he looks back on the ''faithful and discreet slaves'' false dates over the 100 years: '' but at times, we look back over 100 years, and there were times they got excited about a certain year or time, and the end didn't come at that time.''.
he makes the comparison between the ''slave class ( who disappointed others when the end didn't come ) to a barking watchdog ( who in his enthusiasm barks at nothing in the middle of the night and wakes up the owner).

Glad I'm not the only one who had this reaction to the "guard dog" analogy. Not to beat a dead horse, but the first thing that came to mind when I first heard this talk was "... they just admitted that all the GB does is bark incoherently at anything that moves. They just ADMITTED that like an overzealous guard dog, they can't distinguish a real threat from an imagined threat."
They say Jehovah is a reasonable God. How reasonable is it for Jehovah to judge whether we should live or die based on whether or not we believed a group of men who have a 0% success rate of correctly interpreting Bible prophecy?

Steve Kirsch has been wrong about absolutely everything, every step of the way. Both about science and about the law. He has no clue what he's talking about. At all. But he's been all too happy to continuously misrepresent and/or misuse his cherry-picked unreliable data to prove it. Oh, and everyone who points out how wrong he is is either part of the conspiracy, brainwashed by the Powers That Be, or too afraid to speak the truth.

Index of Evidence for Evolution Threads
by cofty inre-posting this for reference.. #1 protein functional redundancy comparing the sequences of amino acids in ubiquitous proteins confirms the relationship between all living things..
#2 dna functional redundancy comparison of the dna that codes for the amino acids of ubiquitous proteins predicts the tree of life with an astonishing degree of accuracy..
#3 ervs endogenous retroviruses that infected our ancestors are found in the same place of the genome of our closest primate cousins..

Cool thread and topic series. Thanks for all the work you put into it.
Do you have a handful of books you would recommend for a scientifically literate person without any formal studies in biology to competently learn these arguments and evidences?

You might be a JW if you...

You might be a JW if your conversations with strangers are scripted, and if any deviation from the script requires you to do "research".
You might be a JW if you think that "research" means searching magazine archives to find out what you're supposed to believe.
You might be a JW if you think that a 75 year old should be shunned by the religion he resigned from at the age of 18 because he found out things he didn't know about the religion when he got baptized at 10.

Thought on “0 hours” reporting
by FFGhost inso everyone knows the “big news” of this past weekend, no more reporting of hours, placements, return visits, etc.
beginning november 1, jws just tick a box indicating whether they “shared in any form of the ministry during the month”.. so there was a brief comment by a redditor that seems like a brief joke “throwaway comment” but after thinking about it….why not?.
the idea is, what is “any form of the ministry”?

@Vidiot Although it somewhat contradicts my own point, I've thought of that too. The less JWs put themselves out there, the less they will be challenged with questions they're not allowed to research answers to.

No more hours doesn't mean no more accountability. In my old hall, the elders insisted that we must be regular, and therefore consistently following the same ministry schedule. No matter how many hours you got, you still were pressured to go to the SAME preaching group days/times as consistently as possible. Now that most people won't be handing in numbers, the congregation will now be more attentive to how visible you are in the ministry. Incidental and casual witnessing be damned - we better SEE you out there in the groups and at the carts. More snooping, more shame.
Also, more pressure than ever will be put on all members to either pioneer or auxiliary pioneer as much as possible. That way, they can gaslight you into accepting that you VOLUNTEERED to have your hours counted and have no one to blame for your exhaustion and stress but yourself.

My mistake. I didn't realize you were a troll. I'll take that into consideration and be less respectful next time.
