  Can this be true: GB to court - NBC ??

  is this a bad joke or "fake news"?.

  nbc new york is claiming "attorneys are expected on monday to announce the filing of lawsuits in king's county supreme court against eight members of the governing body of the jehovah's witnesses for alleged child sexual abuse claims.".

  We used to be taught that the bOrg would be persecuted, but that would be persecution based on righteous reasons, that they were God's organization and that the worldly rulers (and Babylon the Great) would hate that they had God's approval.

  This is different. They are being "persecuted" because there is so much child sexual abuse in the organization, covered over and allowed for years. THAT is not a valid reason to say you are being persecuted because you are following God's commands.

  Real Estate / Legal Question re: KH Sales / Title Transfers

  sorry about being a bit lazy and not researching this myself but when there is a real estate sale, as far as i know, this is public information and on record ( at least in most areas i am aware of).. a kh sale would be a public record.. but when a real title is transferred, isn't this public information also?

  .

  i ask this question because there seems to be some questions here that the publishers did not know the title of their kh had been transferred to the big borg.. any thoughts on this.. rub a dub.

  i had gotten a phone call from a brother who was really upset.

  he said there was a resolution passed that everyone is in agreement to the selling of the elmira hall.

  the strange thing is at the congregation picnic an elder told him that a few years ago the deed to the hall was signed over to the org.

  @Vidiot, that is no surprise. It just makes sense. And while we know they have a big construction project going on in Argentina, I wonder what else they might be building or purchasing, under a different name.

  Yes, what I'm seeing is that most JWs have their head in the sand. There are many questions about finances right now, but they are just whispers. Most are still towing the line and cooperating.

  I too suspect that the powers that be (the GB and/or their business managers) are moving significant amounts of money to safe havens. The publishers don't have any idea what is really happening to their money but they don't even seem to know how to ask. This is the stuff the modern JW organization is built on.

  Barbara, there is no way to adequately express just how valuable and amazing the work you do is. Thank you for posting this, I'm sure we'll all be watching for news. I hope that naming the GB as defendants will prove to be a turning point in favor of all JW CSA victims.

  @FedUpJW, wow, that is actually a lot of money to a lot of JWs in the US. A family of three would have to donate $522 a year. Not a lot of money, unless you are already sitting at or just above the poverty line in the US. Plus add in the cost of gas for service, hotels at conventions, etc.

  Is this tithing?

  But wait - if I ask that to the JWs I know, they'll just think (especially after this article) I'm an apostate trying to ruin their hope of paradise. Sheesh!

  Last month we learned on another thread that they are having an auction of construction equipment (South Carolina? don't remember exactly where).

  You'd think that equipment would come in handy, if you're going to start another huge reno project.

  This whole thing really is a scam of epic proportions.

  I love my Alexa devices, and I use them for listening to music, information, reminders, that sort of thing. The device has to listen out so it can identify when you call it by name (the "wake word") and then respond to your query.

  I don't have any scandalous conversations, but if I was planning to, I'd unplug it first.

  Unfortunately, anything done online or via cellphone creates an information profile which is invaluable to many parties, but as was mentioned, unless you live like a hermit you can't avoid most of it. That's why, while I'm typing this, my favorite jewelry company has the large advert space to the right of the text box.
