  Nothingness

  as one sees the facts of science and learns that evolution is a fact one then begins to look at the collateral effects and circumstances of the human situation and as one of the sojourners who has come down this path i find myself looking at things in a new context.

  first the basis of my position is that evolution is true and that the darwinist viewpoint holds true that it is all about survival.

  with everything being about survival how do i view the world?

  gravedancer, despair comes from fear. Unless I misunderstand , you are afraid of nonexistence (nothingness). I know that fear . It is a form of suffering and its source is in the persisting ignorance we have of our true nature. The answer does not lie in concepts such as existence or non existence or, life or death or, evolution or creation or, mind or matter etc. ect. The answer lies in the direct perception of your true nature which perception can only occur when conceptualizing ceases. At that point both the question and the answer become irrelevent. If you need to pursue the concept of nothingness I suggest you seek out the writings of Nagarjuna ( 2nd century ) considered to be the father of philosophical Mahayana Buddhism. He wrote " Seventy Stanzas" on the psychology of "Emptiness". We are not talking about replacing one set of ideas with another set. We are talking about direct perception into our nature. That alone will eliminate all fear.

  WTBTS-UNDERMINES FAITH IN THE BIBLE

  contrary to the accepted image of the wtbts as builders of faith in the bible, their use of biblical examples of apostacy as defense for their child abuse record actually undermines faith in the bible by showing that the book can be used to manipulate the conscience of believers.

  neither god nor the bible are protecting jehovah's witnesses from this latest manuever by the wtbts.

  why won't the wtbts just deal with the facts at hand?

  Contrary to the accepted image of the WTBTS as builders of faith in the Bible, their use of Biblical examples of Apostacy as defense for their child abuse record actually undermines faith in the Bible by showing that the book can be used to manipulate the conscience of Believers. Neither God nor the Bible are protecting Jehovah's Witnesses from this latest manuever by the WTBTS. Why won't the WTBTS just deal with the facts at hand? Why bring in the authority of the Bible? Apostacy!!! Suddenly, according to the WTBTS, there is a mass Apostacy just like the Apostacies of old times . Accordingly, the accusation of child abuse "cover up" is part of the apostacy. This lying strategy has worked for the WTBTS in the past but it will not work this time. Because of Silentlambs and forums like this one, information on child abuse will continue to be made public When the facts become common knowledge and the WTBTS is forced to recant publicly,then the Believers will have to rethink their faith in God and the Bible. They will ask "How could God let me make such a mistake?" At that time the selfish WTBTS will be seen for what it is, an organization that underrmines faith in God and the Bible for its own protection.

  Scalia addressed the motives of Jehovah's Witnesses which are anti-patriotic and anti-First Amendment . He sees what we see and calls the Witnesses perpertrators of a "fairy tale", another way of saying they are liars.

  thank you all who responded to my earlier post, i am pleased to say there has been a major development.

  just twenty minutes ago i was sitting at the piano and my wife comes up to me and says, "i talked to the brothers, you were absolutely right, i apologize, he (my minor son) will never go to the meetings again".

  i sat there in stunned shock both happy and sad at the same time.

  Freeman, do not be misled . Estrangement (withdrawal of feelings) is what you are dealing with in your marriage. Your posts reveal that you have not lost your feelings for your wife in fact, you regret having to resort to such methods to get her cooperation.The challenge will be how to "reconnect" emotionally with one another. She must somehow come to understand why you are so opposed . This would clarify why you are behaving as you are and she would appreciate that your motives are pure. Unfortunatly the WTBTS declares your motives impure while telling her she must listen to you. She is in a "psychic vice" and she cannot stay there very long. Advice: Try to get outside counseling. If you do not counter the estrangement she will grow to dispise you and the elders will not warn her of that spiritual danger but they will encourage her to stay close to the organization that shrewdly is declaring you "wicked".

  If there is not a public outcry against the WTBTS then they will suffer a humiliating defeat at the hands of there own members. Hypocrisey is rampant among their youth and soon halfhearted defenses will not placate older thinkers in their ranks. The spirit is dying altogether because of WTBTS "trickiness". Can you imagine trying to manage these congregations when they secretly know the game is "image". The WTBTS are cowards hiding behind the First Amendment. What a mockery they make of honor. They are destroying the very "ideal" that germinated loyal obedience in the first place.

  halfway through the article scientists unsure what triggers stranding -- illness, perilous coast may be factors (link: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2002/07/31/mn185450.dtl) the thought occurred to me, what if there are complex human behavioral reasons beyond anyone's control behind the jehovah's witnesses organization's rapid moral disintegration?

  Does any one remember the faces of the Russian peasants and working class citizens when they were given the opportunity to think and express themselves in order to establish some form of democracy? They looked and sounded like Jehovah"s Witnesses rank and file. It appeared to be humility but closer inspection revealed that they were disoriented. To them, thinking and expressing themselves was new and..............strange! Late 1980's. Did anyone else notice this?

  Bill, its hard to believe that someone on the Governing Body hasn't seen that protecting children has priority over forgiving "repentent" molesters. You are on the side of the children. They,at best, are on the side of a possible repentent sinner. What becomes apparant is that they refuse to understand that you are responding to your conscience just as they are responding to theirs. What other course could you follow? What is sad is that they do not respect your conscience . To know this about the Governing Body should strike fear into the hearts of all sincere Jehovah's Witnesses. Look how far they are willing to go to crush you. Your appeal is courageous and they again have an opportunity to act honorably. It would be heart warming if they would invite you meet with them, giving these issues the attention they deserve with a view to making peace. It would be an appropriate time for them to take the lead and show the world a thing of "Beauty". Your appeal gives them that opportunity.

  i am really down on the dumps regarding being shunned and torn apart about da (i haven't yet).

  a week ago i wrote to dr. phil on oprah and wrote briefly about jw practices on shunning.

  Prisca, if you decide to go on the show you could do a world of good by trying to get the show expanded to include the "child abuse " issue and the silencing of Bill, Barbara and the Pandelo"s. It would put the focus on how the practice of "shunning" can be used to support evil as well as tear apart families .

  very intresting, can someone here give a comment on the issu, do we have major differenses from masoretic, and septuagintian text, contra what they find in dead see, cave 4, abaout jeremia, read and comment please.. when i show this on a swedish exjw site they dont want to read it,this was propaganda from us men who dont belive in the lord they say, sound very familier to what jw say, whay shall we read what apostates say?, ???.

  Whatever the true identity of "Happy Man", he has posted an article that is helpful to all objective "seekers" . The inerrancy doctrine is the root of much bloodshed and suffering. It is only a matter of time before its subscribers must face a personal religious crises and rebuild their "world view" on firmer ground.

  when individuals leave the organization for conscience reasons, it is evidence that god is shepherding and protecting the flock by doing a sifting work.

  when people leave another christian religion it is evidence that the religion is morally corrupt and unable or unwilling to provide spiritually for their members.

  when a christian from another denomination lies, he is acting according to his own disposition being from the father of the lie.
