The Government & Disfellowshipping
by Mary infrom everything i've read here, the jist seems to be that if you're disfellowshipped, you have little chance of winning a lawsuit against the borg because the government still gives them the right to "shun" members if they see fit.. it occurred to me that perhaps we're ignoring a potential ray of light at the end of the tunnel.
what if we tried to lobby the government into changing this, so that it would be illegal for any religion to shun former members?
it's a long shot maybe, but if it could be shown (maybe on another program like dateline) of how unfair, cruel and inhumane it is to tell people they must shun family members or close friends simply because they don't think the same way as them, then maybe eventually, one day, a law would be passed forbidding shunning in any religion.. it's not just ex-witnesses that would support this: ex-mormons, ex-scientologists, ex-seventh day adventists etc.

QUESTION??
by Siddhashunyata inafter leaving jehovah's witnesses we experience much confusion.
what should we believe about god, religion, death , life , war, health, sex etc.etc?
usually we search out other ideas or beliefs and again find ourselves groping for another "world view" that will , at last give us peace.

After leaving Jehovah's Witnesses we experience much confusion. What should we believe about God, Religion, Death , Life , War, Health, Sex etc.etc? Usually we search out other ideas or beliefs and again find ourselves groping for another "world view" that will , at last give us peace. The problem is that any world view based on belief is a world view based on thought and therefore it is vulnerable. Vulnerable to thought. Arguments abound as one thought counters another. All parties trying to hold on to their respective positions, all parties vulnerable.? So I'm asking what can be done about this? How would one approach this problem? Certainly, Atheism is not the answer because it is also a system of belief and therefore vulnerable to contradiction . So, how does one deal with this problem that is causng so much confusion? Where does one begin?

Your weakness is your Faith
by Siddhashunyata ini used to say this to an authentic christian who happened to be a jehovah's witness.
it was because he allowed himself to be abused within the organization.
they knew the kind of person he was and they took advantage of his faith in god.

Introspection, with respect, what technical details are you refering to?

Of course, the actual problem in a more general sense is mind, just as any mind who is reading this now is probably having some reaction to words like faith and god. But because we do use the mind to distinguish and most people aren't willing to go into some territory unfamiliar to the mind that doesn't involve belief, we might as well stick with mind."
Yes, this is my justification for exchanging ideas (which, as you know, are "objects" of the mind).
The reason for my post ( aside from my own indignation) is the news that in the months to come many here will be made uncomfortable by JWs asking them "Do You Still Consider Yourself One of Jehovah's Witnesses?". The question is a trap. It is in this context that "lock-step" honesty is a handicap.
"For most people faith in life itself is too big and not comprehensible"
Am I correct in assuming that your "wisdom of the heart" and "faith in life" are synonymous? That the objective is perception ( the present instant) rather than the highly conditioned forming of concepts, images or ideas?

I used to say this to an authentic Christian who happened to be a Jehovah's Witness. It was because he allowed himself to be abused within the organization. They knew the kind of person he was and they took advantage of his faith in God. They would use him for physical work and then pass over him because he was not a company man. Over and over he would serve with sweat and money. All out of faith. He worked whole souled to Jehovah but...........he was not a company man. His faith was in God. Many suffer from this cycle of abuse because they wait on Jehovah. They are taught to overlook abuse by waiting on Jehovah. Their weakness is their faith. Time to grow up. Our moral character is ours to hold within ourselves and it needs to be demonstrated only to the worthy. The tricky and deceitful are not worthy of a faith based honesty. Therefore in dealings with the WTBS and its representatives it is not dishonorable to deceive and if necessary lie outright. They lay traps and those with faith in God fall into them. Instead of making faith your strength , they make it your weakness. So , as this thing unfolds, don't be handicapped by their rules. When they stand to lose according to the rules , they do away with the rules.

What to say to the elders
by freedom96 inso the elders come a knockin.
they ask "the question": so, do you consider yourself a jehovah's witness?.
what is the correct answer so they don't da or df you?.
-
Siddhashunyata
If you want to avoid being disfellowshipped and you are askd the question " Do you still consider yourself one of Jehovah's Witnesses ? " Simply answer " yes ". If they pursue the issue and bring up meetings and field service simply tell them you consider yourself one of Jehovah's Witnesses who does not attend meetings and does not go out in field service. As that conversation develops it will become clear that, with you, answers to questions like that are not so simple. They will have to stick their necks out to disfellowship you. It is not dishonorable to handle them this way. They are laying "traps" and you are playing the role that has been thrust upon you.... that of the fox. Taking a stand against them can be noble but that depends on the circumstances . For some it is more noble to play the fox for the sake of those they love.

Reach for God
by donkey inwhy do humans search and/or reach for god?.
if they are honest with themselves it is because have a fear or death or of non-existence.
or they draw "power" from god.

The believer would find God if simply asked..... " who is this one that believes?"

Spirituality
by donkey inmany xjws and others i have encountered in my journey express disdain for religion but they instead refer to having found a spirituality.
do you mean that instead of seeking fulfillment from life that you have made an inward journey to self discovery?
or do you mean that you have found god by journeying outward?.
-
Siddhashunyata
At the end of the matter inward is outward.

Knowledge Book, Separation and Abuse
by IslandWoman inthe 1995 edition of the "knowledge that leads to everlasting life" book states on page 122 paragraph 11: those living together as husband and wife should make sure that their marriage has been properly registered with the civil authorities.
(mar 12:17) they also need to view wedlock as a serious responsibility.
true, separation might become necessary in cases of willful nonsupport, extreme abuse, or the absolute endangerment of spirituality.. .

"Softening" is gratuitous . A better term would be "cunning".
