I wonder why they chose to give up their NGO status yesterday if there is no problem with it?

Dutch Bethel responds to NGO case
by Merlin ini wanted to share with you a response by dutch bethel on a letter sent by dutch jw re: the ngo thing.. i've not been able to keep up with all the posts on this subject here, so i might end up saying this already said, but never mind that.. thing is, dutch bethel confirmed the ngo status, justifying it by referring to romans 13:1. .
quote from the letter (translated) : <i>"jehovah's witnesses view the organisation of the united nations in the same way they view the other governments of this world ... considering the un as one of the 'superior authorities' is a help to understanding that it is possible to have certain contacts with this institution, similar to the society having contact with ministries taking care of matters related to justice, education and the like"</i> .
as for sharing the ideals of the un charter, it was said : <i>"it is not that hard to only share ideals, while we of course pay tribute to the biblical view on the way in which they should be achieved"</i> (i couldn't help noticing the shocking similarity to the society's letter to hitler in this line of reasoning...).

mommy, I know that about you. I'm sorry about the way I wrote my reply, I was asking questions that maybe could be used in reply to the comments made. I should have clarified those questions with "Why don't you ask her:yada yada". Sorry.

(((I was also given the song and dance about it being ok to use the UN to further human right issues for the brothers. She also fell back on that many people work for the govt and if her house was on fire she would need the fire dept and police to become involved.)))
Why isn't it ok for the rest of the world to use the UN in the same way? What exactly is the problem they have with the UN if they feel it's ok to use them to further human rights, and I would assume, peacekeeping efforts? Why would they speak badly about an organization that helps everyone, including Jehovah's Witnesses?

You should direct his attention to the fact that the WTS has been living up to their commitment in the AWAKE magazine. They draw attention to and mention a UN agency in every edition.

The disturbing thing about ALL religions
by Leander inover the past couple of years i've been really questioning myself about why i have doubts about the wts and even the bible.. even though i've been raised as jw all of my life i've often felt that i was'nt really a religious person.
unlike some of the people around me i just could'nt (and still can't) work up any excitement about the bible.. so after much thought i've come to the conclusion that the disturbing thing about all religions is that fear is emphasized more so than love.
some might argue and say that the bible teaches just the opposite, some will no doubt think about the scripture "god loved the world so much that he sent his only begotten son".

Has anyone ever wondered if this 'destruction' of the earth doesn't really mean the 'destruction' of the spirit of the world? Couldn't the 'fire' that will devour the earth really be the Spirit of God overtaking any force that is in opposition to Him? Isn't it possible that the 'destruction' is actually 'salvation' taking COMPLETE control of the earth?

My sons and I went to see the theater with another sister and her kids (prior to a tour of Bethel). I was very impressed with the restoration job they did there. It looked beautiful.

Time Waster...
by closer2fine inthis is really cool, if you have nothing better to do.
think of a dictator or tv sit-com character, and answer all the questions as if you were that character.
the system will figure out who you are.

That was cool...I didn't think it would but it did.

Is it wrong to live a double life in association with Jehovah's Witnesses? I think the answer would be yes. It's wrong for a couple of reasons, the first being is that you would be living a lie. Why would you want to live your life like that? What can you possibly gain by pretending to be someone you're not?
The second reason is that by staying and pretending that you are in agreement with them, you give credibility to something that you no longer find credible. You are bearing good witness for a lie. Do you want your life to spent perpetrating lies or truth? If you no longer agree that the JW's have the 'truth' then you shouldn't use your life to project it as such.
I'm so sorry about your daughter. I hope that you can come to the point where you can feel free from the guilt it sounds like you have. We all make mistakes in our lives when it comes to dealing with our children. None of us are given a manual when are kids are born to tell us the perfect way to raise them. We can only do the best we can. No one is truly 'selfless' and our egos will always play a part in how we see a situation. I'm sure that whatever occurred between the two of you, you only had what you perceived to be her best interests at heart.
One of the most important things I've learned from my experiences with and subsequent refections on the JW Organization is that I cannot be master of the faith and actions of others, and I will not allow someone else to be master of mine. -

The truth should be upbuilding to someone's faith, if that faith is based on truth. If the truth has a tearing down effect on faith, that means that something in the base of that faith is not true.
