Dateline Report/JW Stonewalling/You
by Francois2 inelsewhere in the active topics list (see "society on documenting personal views ") a letter from the wtb&ts to congregations has been reproduced.
it is obvious this letter has been either written or vetted by a lawyer, or more likely by a committee of lawyers.
it fairly reeks of legalese masquerading as a concern for accuracy.

do you really think wt silence will allow this to go away?
the lambs continue to roar and the world will know the shame wt has perpetrated on so many. pass it on....

i think there are elders like thompson within the wt. with over 22,000 resigning in the last three years it appears many no longer have the conscience to pull the trigger. when i resigned it was like a great weight was lifted off my shoulders. i felt i was no longer supporting what was morally and ethically wrong. i had a meeting with four key elders in the circuit shortly thereafter. it was like trying to reason with a stone. so many just do not think or want to understand the real issues involved. to go against wt in anyway is a commitment too many are afraid to make. the result is there are fewer and fewer "thompson's" left to do the right thing.

She was a fine sister
by silentlambs inshe was a fine sister with a history that went back six generations with jehovahs witnesses.
her family boasted well over 1000 jw family members, many of which had high station within the organization.
this proud heritage was marred by another fact in the familys history this sister had not disclosed.

moxy,
i usually do not respond to misinformation or setup questions when people really do not desire an answer. i think most of the victims could answer your question without hesitation. i have responded to the issue in about everything i have written as well as my website. to act like i haven't appears you are not seeking a sincere answer but trying to raise questions that have already clearly been addressed as if it presents some kind of problem. as an elder for many years and after having recently discussed this very matter with wt legal as well as wt service in a matter involving child molestation i feel i can offer a competent response to your question if you really want an answer, if not, the answer will serve to help others who may not know of this issue.
the answer,
one witness matters only apply to very current events. if you read the entire page 111 of the ks you will find that to be the case. on repeated occasions in the ks and the publications you will find the "two witness" to each event rule consistently applies. consider smoking, if two people caught you smoking in the same week, yes that could possibly establish a judicial committee. each witness would have to be dead certain of what they saw with no wavering. if two witnesses caught you smoking a month apart or six months or a year, no way will a committee be formed. this applies to adultery, fornication, stealing, and about any other sin. the 11-95 wt clarifies this with regard to recollections of child molestation, going further by saying in the event of a repressed memory two or three people who recalled molestation in the face of denial would not be considered credible to set up a judicial committee. perhaps the most convincing evidence are the many victims who have had just that happen to them when they came forward. did you read the story that started this thread???? a classic example. i have heard of cases of as many as 60 "witness children" being molested, with many coming forward and page 111 being used to say they could not take action because two witnesses to the same event were required. for wt to indicate otherwise would be a welcome change of a wt policy that is part of my protest. for wt to act like this was their policy all along is a blatant bald faced lie and is an insult to all the victims who were treated otherwise.
does that answer your question? -

i posted a few revisions after talking to the victim today. i orginally wrote the story from memory and i wanted to verify to make sure i was being accurate. after talking to the victim the story got worse. 50-100 victims yet nothing never done to bring this person to justice.

to answer your question, therein lay the flaw. when it comes to ethics and morals, elders are not allowed to think. they obey wt policy. this is not an exceptional case. i have another on the east coast that involved 40 children. no two witnesses to the same event. on the west coast 16 children. no two witnesses to the same event. i agree elders know that morally there must be something going on here. they will not take action as they act at the direction of wt service and wt legal. wt policy says two witnesses to the same event, unless it is a very current event. this rarely fits any event associated with child molestation. for this reason i resigned in protest and disgust. wt knows they are letting child molesters get away and they do nothing. why? every molester action tarnishes the image of spiritual paradise projected to so many of the friends. to be better than the world you can tweak the numbers with policy such as this and thus appear not have much problem with molestation issues.
this makes the gb nothing but a bunch of dastards. DASTARD: n. 1. A MEAN, SNEAKING COWARD. -adj. 2. of or befitting a
dastard; mean, sneaky, and cowardly. (caps added)the gb are mean for refusing to acknowledge the problem with wt policy allowing more children to be molested as we speak and sneaky cowards for using JR Brown and Mario Moreno to give misinformation to excuse their refusing to take proper action to protect children.

She was a fine sister with a history that went back six generations with Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her family boasted well over 1000 JW family members, many of which had high station within the Organization. This proud heritage was marred by another fact in the family’s history this sister had not disclosed. She was a part of the fourth generation in her family to be molested by her great grandfather. After living many years in fear, when she turned fifteen she finally summoned the courage to do something about it. As any Jehovah’s Witness knows the only option is to ask direction from the Body Of Elders. She told her father first and then later the elders, everything, a sordid story of molestation that went on for several years. Several other members of the family came forward with their accounts of being molested by this same man who was now in his nineties.
What would the elders do? Would they protect the flock? Would they move quickly to expose this horror to the authorities to bring this lifetime of sick deviancy to justice? What loving assistance would be given to the victims of child molestation?
In the end the answers to these questions were so wrong and so disgusting, its bears repeating to let the public know what kind of “justice” will often be extended to victims of molestation within Jehovah’s Witnesses. The events proceeded as follows:1. The sexual deviate was asked, “Did you do it?” To which he replied, “No.” He was then free to go.
2. The victims who were interviewed by an investigative two elders asked the victim, “Did you have a witness to the event of molestation?” To which they replied, “No.” As is common in most cases of child molestation other people are generally not asked to watch.
3. The Body Of Elders then basically told each victim, “According to the Biblical principle found at Mt. 18:16, since you do not have “two witnesses” to each event, we do not have a basis to act judicially. It is basically your word against his and as a result, you must view him as an innocent man. In the event you choose to discuss this with anyone, it could be considered slander of the “good” name of this man resulting in possible disfellowshipment from the congregation. Finally, not one word was mentioned regarding the right to report the matter to the authorities.
4. Our sister, who had the great courage to come forward and expose the deviate, was informed that the elders wanted to meet with her. When she arrived for the meeting it was found the elders believed what she had stated to be true. How did she know? A Judicial Committee had been set up to deal with the facts she had “confessed” to. Though she was a child at the time, she was charged with sexual misconduct and reproved by the Judicial Committee. In addition, she was placed on full restrictions, which in turn would make a statement to the congregation that she had been dealt with by a Judicial Committee. This would be a public statement that she had done something to break God’s law. Our sister was reproved for being molested and to add insult to injury she was not allowed to discuss the matter with anyone in the congregation to protect the “good” reputation of the pedophile. How many children this man molested in his ninety some odd years will never be actually known. Those who know estimate at least 50-100 victims. When the great grandfather away, it is interesting to note that he died as a patriarch among the Witnesses, with over 300 attending his funeral and mourning this fine example in Christian living. He was never reported to the police, protected by the elders and his victims live as silentlambs, terrorized by the sanctions of misguided men who use Watchtower Policy to help criminals to escape justice.
Our sister, is still a sister, she no longer attends meetings or serves as an active member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her reasons are simple. You see she now has a child and wishes to never allow her child to be exposed to an Organization that protects and hides the identity of child molesters from its members. To protect her child from being molested she feels she is far safer being outside of the Organization.
Can you blame Her?So sad a story, yet one that has been repeated hundreds of times by elders who use Watchtower Policy to hurt children while protecting the “image” of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
