all the father had to do is agree not to shun the mother or teach the children to do the same.

Well, we have good news!
The father could not agree to this so the judge declared his afidafit insufficient.
The kids remain with their mother!!!

HELP Needed in custody case!

i received a letter last night (as many of you did) about a particular.

custody battle being fought by a poster on this board.. she just found out that she lost custody of her 3 children to her jw ex, despite the fact that they are in danger of being exposed to a pedophile relative through this man.. i am asking anyone who may know anything about setting up a legal defense fund (or anyone who knows about utah custudy law/ lawyers in utah) to please respond to this post.

time is of the essence, the girls have already gone back to their father today.

Ritzville Bound

i leave tonight to head for ritzville.

there have been so many kind thoughts and notes sent which i am going to pass on to erica when i get there.

we even had a person from germany send $80 for flowers.

I leave tonight to head for Ritzville. There have been so many kind thoughts and notes sent which I am going to pass on to Erica when I get there. We even had a person from Germany send $80 for flowers.

An article ran early in the local newspaper which in turn gives the defense a basis to ask for a mistrial. I do not think this will happen but this puts Erica in a pre-trial hearing Monday. They have run out the very best prosecuter in the area and he seems clear cut on making sure things go right this time. We hope it does of course, but I believe the pedophile will be getting support from high places. He was met with many hugs from his congregation today.

I hope this is the beginning of a new fight for the victims. To no longer let wt be in control and call the shots. While being df for six months for molesting a child may be plenty enough punishment to the Othello congregtion of jw's, as before, I believe again the courts will see otherwise.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. If you pray, please pass a kind word on for what is going to happen next week. Your love and positive feelings in these matters will have an effect for the right outcome.

When you consider it from Erica's shoes and think about having to sit before a court and tell about being raped as a child, all the while having the perpetrator staring at you with hatred in his eyes, along with all his friends. It is easy to see who the courageous one is in this matter. Did you know in the last trial the jw's snickered and laughed while she testified? Not this time, not this time.

The newspaper interviewed Jeffrey Anderson, a lawyer who specializes in cases of sexual abuse. He estimates that since 1985, when priestly pedophilia came under increased public scrutiny, there have been over a thousand cases in which priests molested children. Anderson had some harsh words for the church's response to the ongoing crisis: "It is a continuing saga of avoiding responsibility," he charges, decrying the church's focus on protecting the accused clerics. The Jehovah's Witnesses church has shielded sexual predators from the law and humiliated their victims, according to a lawsuit expected to be filed today that challenges the church's policy on sexual molestation.

But attorney Jeffrey Anderson, who will file the Berrys' suit, alleged the Jehovah's Witnesses have a ''rigid patriarchal hierarchy that seems to believe it can operate above the law. ''This church is free to believe whatever they want, but this is about doing harm to children (and) giving sanctuary to pedophiles,'' said Anderson of St. Paul, Minn., whose firm has successfully sued the Roman Catholic Church and other religious organizations in cases of clergy sexual abuse nationwide.

Statement
Sexual abuse of children is a terrible crime that can leave lasting emotional scars on its victims. Often, child molesters are attracted to organizations that have children as members, which makes protecting children from sexual abuse a complex and important societal concern.
Jehovah’s Witnesses condemn child molestation, and they do not tolerate such activity within their membership. If there is sufficient evidence that someone has exploited children in this way, he may be disfellowshipped (excommunicated). A sincerely repentant former child molester may be allowed to remain a member of the faith, but he is strongly warned against being alone with children unless one of the parents or another responsible adult is also present. Moreover, as a protection to our children, former child molesters are not permitted to receive positions of responsibility in our religion.
If an accusation of child molestation is made against a member of the congregation, the elders immediately work to assure the safety of the victim. Also, they make every effort to comply with the law. This includes complying with laws that mandate reporting the incident to the proper authorities. This is even done when a child is the only one to report the wrong conduct or when the elders received the allegation of molestation in confidence.
The victim or the victim’s family may also report the matter to the authorities. They have an absolute right to report and none should interfere with this. Just wanted to post this note to not forget the upcoming trial in Ritzville. The local guys have brought in the top prosecuter who tells Erica there will be no mistakes in this trial. I think they have got the message that many eyes are going to be watching how this goes. Our being there and the knowledge of this appears to be making a differance. I look forward to seeing all who can make it there.

Ringwood man held in killing of boy, 16

RINGWOOD -- A 16-year-old was stabbed to death early Monday during a fight with a 24-year-old Ringwood man who was charged with murder, authorities said.

The suspect, Cole Dykstra of Skyline Lake Drive, surrendered to Wanaque police early Monday following the fight, authorities said.

He was arraigned on murder and weapons charges in North Haledon Municipal Court on Monday night and was being held in the Passaic County Jail. Bail information was not available.

The name of the victim, who also lives on Skyline Lake Drive, was not released as of Monday evening, apparently because a close relative had yet to be notified. Residents said he was a student at Lakeland Regional High School.

Details of the slaying were incomplete Monday, including where the killing took place, and police said they were still investigating all aspects of the case.

Ringwood police refused to provide information and deferred to county authorities. Police learned of the stabbing at 3:30 a.m. Monday, said Detective Sgt. James Wood, supervisor of the Passaic County Prosecutor's Homicide Squad.

Wood said the fight was still under investigation to determine the motive and that a knife was recovered at the scene, which he would not pinpoint. He said the victim and the suspect were not related.

Neighbors gathered outside their homes on Skyline Lake Drive in shock.

"Things like that don't happen in this neighborhood. I'm just a little concerned," said one woman. "This is a very quiet, family-oriented neighborhood."

Mayor Allan Van Eck said the stabbing occurred in the Skyline Lakes area and that "I'm deeply troubled by these events, and my sympathy goes out to both families."

He said a crisis team will be available for Lakeland Regional students.

Wood said police from Ringwood, Wanaque, and the Passaic County sheriff's Identification Unit were sent to the scene early Monday.
