Great post Roger, and welcome to the site.
Hopefully those two elders will really think about what you have told them. Best of all, you referenced everything out of the WTS own publications.
i was approached by two jehovah’s witness elders who handed me a pamphlet advertising the jw .org website.
each man carried a bible and an apple ipad.
they told me that they enjoyed visiting with people about the bible, and asked if i was a bible reader.

i sent the following letter to my older brother, a jw elder in grand prairie, texas, who actively shuns me since i left the religion for conscientious reasons two years ago.. may 11, 2017. dear ronnie,.
in the opening scenes of the movie gone with the wind, a field worker hollers out, “”quttin’ time!” big sam protests, saying, “i’s da fo’man on tara.
i sez when it’s quittin’ time.
watching rated r movies?
maybe a little gambling in vegas?
when i was in high school i went to the mall with my friend at the time, who happened to be a female.
In the grand scheme of things it would be deemed inconsequential. Anyway here goes;
'Fudging field service hours' on my report slip during a 'bad' month ... lol.
it's been 8 years, but i am back.
my health has returned.
what did i miss?.
Hello Preston, and welcome back.
I'm relatively new to this forum - about 8 months. Glad to hear that you are enjoying good health again.
As zeb mentioned - the outpouring of rage over child abuse. The ARC exposed a little over 1000 unreported child abuse cases in Australia. A couple of other abuse victims in the USA have sued the Org, and settled out of court. The Charities Commission are currently investigating the Org in Britain.
for kingdom hall and branch closings, leaked documents and videos, number of baptisms at assemblies, news articles on child abuse and other.
etc.
thank you.
Great suggestion by Nowhat. I second it.
a close friend of mine who is pimo (only staying in for family reasons) in a neighboring congregation called me in tears tonight saying her dad (elder) is telling her he is seriously considering reporting her to her local elders and she could get disfellowshipped.. the reason?
because she is complicit in a gross sin, according to him, by going with her best friend (not a j.w.
) when the friend had an abortion.
This so called 'father' needs to hang his head in shame!
i voted this morning for the first time.
at 32yo i wondered in a church of england parish hall with no idea what i was doing.
everyone else knew how to do it.
@ PE
I too voted today - my second time. First time was last year - over Brexit.
I parked up in a nearby parking lot and as I was walking toward the local parish hall, I quickly glanced around to see if there were JW's lurking on the streets before entering to cast my vote - silly really.
there were many addressed to me.
for example, i once had a sister tell me i was gambling because i liked playing skill crane (the machine where you have to try to pick up prizes like stuffed animals) at the arcade.
i then fired back a her: "you saw the r-rated movie 'backdraft.
... These are not just "rules" from the religion. These are views of meddling and jealous individuals who will end up making your life miserable if you don't act on or follow their unwanted advice ...
Spot on LHG. Like many others, I too was on the receiving end of some other people's unwanted 'advice' - more like unfounded criticism. To my shame I kept quiet and sucked it up for far too long.
just a simple " we are sorry " .
.
I think a person will have more chance of being struck by lightning than ever receiving an apology from the governing body.
hello every body!.
it's my thirst time here.
i'm verry glad to tell you my resignation as an elder in my local congregation.
And a warm welcome from me too, JW Awaked.
