LUHE , l agree that the NHS can be run much more efficiently, but I'm not sure that is the government's ( any government's) fault .

Which governments repossess your house for not paying for your " free " healthcare? Certainly not in the UK .

I don't know where the NHS gets it's insulin but it does get it because thousands of diabetics receive it . Some may have to a prescription charge , but that is a lot less than in America. My prescriptions are free because of my age so I am not sure about the exact cost , around a tenner l think . Pensioners, children and those on certain benefits get it free .

What bills do people get in the UK ? Believe me I've had chemotherapy and surgery, including reconstructive surgery , my husband and son had extensive treatment for cancer, quickly and with no charge .

I have never heard of anyone being charged for NHS healthcare and at my age l know plenty of folk who are having treatment for health problems.

I'm not quoting socialist propaganda, it's my and my family and my friends' own experiences after 67 years of living with the NHS .

Hospitals in America are more expensive to run than anywhere else because they are ripped off by pharmaceutical companies and have to pay top dollar for everything.

The NHS is the largest pharmaceutical customer in the UK because it buys in bulk for all hospitals. So it can haggle and cut drug prices.

Also the NHS doesn't spend a fortune on pen pushers in offices calculating bills.

Cancer treatment isn't considered elective surgery, where did that come from ? I had breast cancer and my husband had a cancerous tumour on a kidney. We were both treated very quickly.

Much of what you have said is GOP propaganda. And people shouldn't go bankrupt and sell their homes to stay alive .

LHG we are taking in a lot of immigrants and providing shelter and food . Many are put up in hotels over here . We aren't a huge country.

Thing is Americans who have good insurance cover can still be refused treatment, can still go bankrupt and can still die for example from lack of insulin.

Under an NHS type system everyone would pay less and not have to worry about going bankrupt or being refused treatment.

LUHE , the " I'm alright - sod you Jack " attitude just doesn't seem very nice somehow. " I can afford to stay alive , you can't so tough " seems to indicate a society that just doesn't care.

im not an atheist, makes no mathematical sense, nor does the buy(more) bull(shit) god make any logical sense... maybe a deist on my best day, in the end you cannot get something from nothing, paradox if you ask me... but in reality i just dont care.

while in, and moving out of the cult, its like a roller coaster, emotionally, yet, for me, over time, i just take it one day at a time, and if appeasing some special deity is required, well i guess i failed.

Where does the notion come from that Universal Healthcare costs more than private?

It absolutely doesn't. Most Brits pay, on average. about the same per annum through taxes, which are based on income, than the average American per month.

I understand that people can still go bankrupt paying for treatment in America even though they have insurance.

Diabetics die because they can't afford insulin because , of course , businesses aren't going to pay out more than has been put in to fund life long care .

Americans have pen pushers who have no medical knowledge decide if the treatment needed is financially viable.

A couple l know have a son who is married to an American lady and lives in America. They have good insurance but when one of their new born twins needed essential surgery for spina bifida the insurance company questioned the doctor's recommendation. The office based " professional " wanted to know basically if the money spent would be worth the outcome!!!. The surgery wasn't to save the child's life but vastly improve the quality. So you have a system where bean counters can over rule a highly qualified medical professional . Fortunately the op did take place.

No thank you sir , l would fight tooth and nail to keep that kind of healthcare from the UK

The NHS isn't perfect but by heck l will take it over the American system

Yep Punky , how true .

I did read somewhere, possibly on here , that this is a deliberate aim of the Org. To make sure that if someone leaves they find it impossible to go elsewhere to have Christian fellowship.

Please don't rule out the possibility, in the future, of finding a group of believers who you can feel comfortable with .
