  "shepherd the flock" book - page 38 - chapter 3 par.20 ........ (talking about disqualifying servants and elders) 20. if the sin occurred before he was appointed as an elder or a ministerial servant, the elders will need to take into consideration the fact that he should have mentioned this possible impediment to his being qualified when elders interviewed him just prior to announcing his appointment.

  moreover, the nature of the sin may reflect greatly on his qualifications to serve.

  for example, the sin may involve past child abuse, and this would likely disqualify him for many years.-w97 1/1 pp.

  for our colonial cousins the sun is a highbrow , well respected national daily newspaper , well national daily anyway .

  on sunday it printed a small article about what it describes as a jehovah's witness paedophile whose sex crimes had been hushed up by his church .

  Are JWs the only religion to promote Jesus and the Bible ? absolutely not , all major Christian denominations promote Jesus and the Bible . The Gospel is at the heart of any Christian teaching .The Gospel being that Jesus died for our sins s that we might be able to have eternal life .

  o.k. the sun isn't the Times but as someone pointed out it does have national coverage , and this is something . I have just e-mailed the Independant group telling them to look into that story more closely and to look at this forum . the post about the man being re-instated as an elder after raping a young girl is heartbreaking and this needs exposing . Don't know if there will be any follow up , but something needs to be done about to alert the general public about this .

  It isn't much, only a small piece on page 23 of Sunday's Sun newspaper . For our Colonial cousins the Sun is a highbrow , well respected national daily newspaper , well national daily anyway . On Sunday it printed a SMALL article about what it describes as a Jehovah's Witness paedophile whose sex crimes had been hushed up by his church . The chap had admitted to elders when confronted by them that he had abused a girl . However three Elders at the Lambton Kingdom Hall in Washington , Tyne and Wear had refused to make statements to police about the confession saying it was confidential . They were finally ordered to testify at Newcastle Crown Court . The man was convicted of indecency , indecent assault and child cruelty and jailed for 13 years .

  Maybe someone in the national press will decide to look into this more in light of other denominations starting to be more transparent , we can only hope .

  slim , I assume that you are asking about my post . I am starting to think that I imagined this cus I saw the JW lady who I believe showed me this the other day and asked her about it and she couldn't remember showing me it . However I can remember holding in my hands two booklets and pointing out to her the different attitude to the Early Church Fathers in each booklet .One was saying to view them with respect , that was when their "quotes " were being used to back up JW theology and the other more or less saying well they did not know what they were talking about and weren't very important anyway .

  I have asked her to look for the other mysterious booklet and she says thet she will try . This came about after I pointed out very forcefully that the "quotes from the ECFs were totally twisted and not true and said that I would happily stand in the middle of the road and shout "This booklet tells lies " without any fear of comeback because as soon as someone looked into my allegations I would be proved right . I said that the ECFs totally supported the theology of at least the divinity of Christ and some even talk about Trinity .

  I am sure that the next week she bought this other booklet to the study to show me that maybe Tertullian and co did support Trinity teaching but the Watchtower had discredited them so their ideas were worth diddly squat .

  I am working on solving the mystery , please be patient as soon as I find anything out I will post .

  Oh I thought JWs were just a "normal" religion

  i have found that, since leaving jws, that few "wordly" people seem interested in hearing my escape story (although some certainly have shown great interest).

  when i've mentioned that i used to be a jw and that i left, the reaction i've gotten on more than one occasion is a "oh i thought they were just a normal religion", and not only that, it's like they just weren't at all even open to the idea that jws could be a really strange and cultish group.

  on these occasions, i felt a little lost for words trying to explain to people just how crazy jwism is, because there's so much crazy to tell about, where do you even start?.

  Fesh Prince , you are so right .When people at my church found out about my anti-witnessing some were quite funny with me about it ." Aren't we supposed to be encouraging inter faith co-operation , not bashing each other ? etc " I try to explain how that is fine with Catholics , Methodists and other Trinitarian faiths but that it is the JWs that keep us at arms length . It is frustrating how little other "religious " people know about the Watchtower , even had to educate my Vicar a bit on the subject !! I try to get my fellow parishoners to talk to JWs to find out what they do believe for themselves and indulge in a bit of anti-witnessing . It would be great if more people who have a knowledge of the Bible actually challenged Winesses on the doorsteps . However many still seem to feel that it would be wrong to argue with other "believers " People still do not realise how destructive the Watchtower is .

  in zions watchtower 1896 december 15th, russell's comment on an article in the n.y observer which rightly cast doubt on the imminent formation of a jewish state in these words:.
