Discussion with family member who is an Elder in our congregation

so about a week ago, i showed my cousin & her husband [an elder in our congregation] the picture on pg 29 of our 4/15/2013 study wt and asked, "if jesus is head of the congregation then where is he?".

after several minutes of searching, dead silence.. i then asked if they had heard the part on the 2012 summer district conv the part about "our spiritual mother, where the c.o said that "the bible by itself does not shine thru as life-giving truths just by itself.

" they were shocked and said that i must have misheard it because that would be apostasy.

Yeah bringing that up is just typical JW drama. You don't need it, and they won't care. JW drama liek that almost feeds these type of guys. You stepped in in with cousin elder, BUT......you ONLY talked to him. They need two witnesses to mess with you. So don't meet with them, and if you feel like you have to, just nod politely and tell them nothing.

If you don't think you can do that, than don't meet with them.

You can be the architect of your own demise, or the orchestrator of your freedom. Its all on you and your self control. Its hard itsn't it. :)

gonna write my annulment letter

i know it may not mean anything to the boys in brooklyn but it's therapeutic.

thinking of sending in on the anniversary of my dunking, may 30.. i hereby declare my baptism null and void on the primary grounds that i took this action before i reached the legal age of consent.

secondary grounds include lack of full disclosure of the terms involved.

I say you need to do what you need to do for your own mental health. Especially if you are currently kicked out, it really doesn't do anything I suppose to hinder you. I honestly still don't see a reason for people to get themselves removed. It just accomplishes nothing really. Unless of course, everyone who comes here and is having doubts or wants to throw in the towel had a DAOF THE YEAR that they just cut off and wrote a letter.

Actually......that might be a great thing to do. Some day of the year that the ex and fading community makes a mark on every year. Letters to the branch, DA letters, baptismal annulmants, requests for records, etc....

To those still "in"... how do these scriptures impact you?

matt 7:13, 14: "go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; 14?whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.".

matt 24:44: "on this account you too prove yourselves ready, because at an hour that you do not think to be it, the son of man is coming.".

2 pet 3:3, 4: "for you know this first, that in the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires 4?and saying: where is this promised presence of his?

I always find the application of this sentance interesting. I guess we could just look for the smallest group of Christians and follow them? Wait but I thought the small would be come amighty nation. Can a mighty nation be the "few" finding the narrow road?

Its important to know, that even if you believe the bible to be inspired from God, it was still written by people. So they wrote in the style of the time. Hyperbole was rampant in jewish literature. So try not to take everything so literally. Regardless, you know what Jesus taught....and what he doesn't. So do what he taught, and don't do what he didn't. :)

all i've done is posted scriptures on my facebook page for discussion.

this uber-jw 'friend' has engaged me in debate, each time cutting and pasting a whole bunch of wt quotes on whatever our topic is, and i've responded with scriptures and she could only answer with another wt quote, and now today i see she's unfriended me!

all her comments are gone too.

Ugh. Attended a funeral recently at the KH...

i can't believe how horrid this experience was.

first, the thought of going into a kh again filled me with total anxiety and even nausea.. .

second, couldn't believe how much time it took to get ready to get there.

Its been 5 months, and that is around the time people start really getting suspicious. So i went to a funeral, and people were VERY kind (I have a nice hall), and of course there was the courus of "we have been missing your wonderful comments", and even if I was speaking with someone for more than 30 seconds "the well....this old world is going south, this is the best way to live."

I just respond with kindness and find that at the end of it I feel good, have paid respect, dealt with the people that are nice nicely, and dealt with the haters by taking the high road.

Feels good.

Temporary Special Pioneer Assignment...?

members of my extended family were recently given a temporary special pioneer assignment as a result of the bible school for christian couples (vomit).. anyone got details on how this works?

why temporary?

is it a testing ground for circuit work or a "we dont want you on our payroll for good so we'll use up what you have to offer and dump you back into reg pio status when this definitely not-cushy assignment is over"?.

Wait you are being shunned? I feel like I missed something and I thought I was following your story.

I don't know much about the temp assignment except of course for them to see if you can handle it.

i'm still "in" and i've noticed an odd trend recently.

conversations with jws seem to be more jw-ish than ever!

in normal conversation, i'll hear: "these watchtowers are just wonderful!

Maybe they are trying to convince themselves. Some people for their own faith and life choices, turn on their OWN rhetoric in order to have their faith survive. Very common.

you read the title correctly.. my daughter is a prosecutor who right this moment is prosecuting a dui crash with major injuries.

the defendant--the drunk driver--just tried to place an awake magazine with her while both of them were in the courtroom.. .
