How many former Jehovah's Witnesses bury their head in the sand when it comes to reasoning about the NGO "conspiracy"?
by Change Name inhi all - sure sure, you can call me a troll or brainwashed cult member.
i am totally interested in how your answers to these questions.. .
do you find yourself ignoring anything that jehovah's witnesses bring out in regards to their former status as an ngo?.

Change name,
I think some posts here may have given you some things to think about. For me however as a JW, this particular act on the part of the WT didn't really sway me much. I felt that being an NGO didn't get you a vote as to the actions of the UN, so how are you a "part" of it?
That being said, I can easily see why someone would feel differently and it would sway their faith in the group that has called the UN a "disgusting thing" for most of their existance. Can't you see why that would appear hypocritical to some?
The society said they wanted acess to the library......which they could have had anyways. Ok fine, maybe someone made an error. Then they said the criteria for being an NGO has changed......which the UN has denied. Well that seems suspect at the very least right? Was it wise for them to be an NGO in order to get access to things they may not otherwise have access to? Sure! Is the UN charter they would need to support say anything that JW's wouldn't do? No!
BUT HERE IS THE RUB. When you do not extend the same kind of reasonableness to the conscience of the individual Christian, you have become a hypocrite. The WT used to disfellowship someone who joined the YMCA. Yet they can be an NGO and it shouldn't be an issue? At the very least it was a bad decision, and disengenuous. Was it out right wicked? I don't neccesarily think so, but many here feel to the contrary and I understand why they do.
You should attempt to figure out why that is since this is the subject you have decided to harp on.

Hey Kirk,
I think Tool is just expressing an opinion. For every rock band past their prime, there is someone still making hits about Cali. Kendrick lamar hails from LA. RHCP are LA die hards.
Regardless.....who cares? The CA economy is in trouble. But it will survive. NY will too. NYC is hard, Calir less so. Although not as soft as many think. Both areas are liberal hubs, and simultaneously kings of commerce. Both areas are diverse as hell, and mesh several cultures in one city or area. Both are areas immigrants have flocked too. Cali has movies and entertainment, NY has wall street and finance.
They are much more similar than different. I can understand why someone would like to live in NY. I am not one of them. Not for an extended period anyays. Been there, done that. I like my 345 days of sun here in San Diego thank you very much.

Hey Kirk,
It appars you and I are about the same age. Nirvanas Nevermind came out when I was in high school. I was rolling with Snoop and Dre until i discovered the wonders of A Tribe Called Quest and the Roots. I saw Rage Against the Machine and Wu-Tang in concert.
Anyways, your characterization of all things west coast is falacious. You don't understand the West coast any more than you claim nobody understand the east coast. I worl with people on the Philly border for my job. We get along just fine. NY, NY is the center of commerce for a large part of the world. This does not mean the entire East Coast runs the US. Not by a long shot. In fact, despite NY having their distinction, CA still has a larger economy than New York as a whole, and any other state of course. 1/8 of the populaton of the country lives out here. Alot of challenges.
So I would brush off the west coast of the country and its influence not even just here but in the world, so easily.
Yes you are right our age group is currently in the minority here, but that seems to be changing as more and more that hit 30 "wake up".

Bart Ehrman on the Trinity
by slimboyfat intalking of watchtower quote mining, i wonder if they'll ever quote these comments, considering the source is bible sceptic:.
and i began to see that many of the traditional christian doctrines that i had long held to be beyond question, such as the doctrine of the divinity of christ and of the trinity, were not present in the earliest traditions of the new testament but had developed over time and had moved away from the original teachings of jesus and his apostles.
jesus, interrupted (2010), page 16..

Bart Ehrman is an interesting read. I plan to start at the beginning with "Misquoting Jesus".

Shunned again today
by punkofnice inas i walked through the streets of my hometown i walked past a 'sister'tm).
at first i didn't recognize her as i wasn't paying attention.. she sort of gave me a bit of a smile (or did she have wind/gas?).
after i has passed her, it dawned on me who it was.. i'd given her family lifts to meetings and socialised with them.. i then realized she'd shunned me.
