Husband has joined me in being inactive.
by Julia Orwell inthat's right, and it's great!
i don't know exactly why because he hasn't turned apostate and still seems to believe jw things.
i don't feel comfortable in asking him why he doesn't go to meetings anymore for some reason, or find out what he believes and if the things i've told him bout ttatt influenced his decision.

Hey Auzzie,
Just a tiny word of caution on your post. It hit me after I read it a few times. In Mr Obriens comments, please see the highlighted portion of double talk. Technically remember that now-a-days, JW's somehow pasively chose to not be JW's, they aren't kicked out. it allows the religion to act with impugnity.
Mr T. O’BRIEN
— People are free to be Jehovah’s Witnesses, or if at any time they wish to discontinue for
whatever reason, that is a personal choice. If the person simply decides to become inactive and no longer
associate with Jehovah’s Witnesses, then they are just viewed as they were before they became one of
Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Global Cooling
by Jomavrick inso if i send money to al gore to pay for carbon credits, will it warm up the 30 degree temperature outside today?
pearly on years ago when i realized a few people and organizations were using junk science as away to build a cottage industry of money making and taxing, i knew it was a hoax.
then when the data came back to show the earth has been cooling instead of warming, the con artists changed the label from global warming to climate change.. believe what you want to, i don't care, but blind allegiance to the gw idea is so similar to jw belief in my mind, blind!.

Oh my. This thread is already a classic. people posting phtoos fo snow outside of their home to support the idea that massive global climate change is happening, is real, and is a concern....is just hilarious. It shows a profound ignorance of what the arguement even is.
As it stands, the 5% (I am being generous), of climate change deniers that claim some kind of scienticic knowledge, are already usually connected to a particular political motivation, or even worse.....are born again Christians that say the earth will stand to time indefinite until Gods time....so we can do what we want.
The bigges thing we could do for our environment, is change the way we farm and fertilize the land. If we used more sustainable farming practices, then no matter how many cows we grow and feel genetically modified corn too, and no matter how many Hummers we see on the freeway, the earth at large would be able to soak in so many more tons of carbon that it wouldn't matter nearly as much.
Carbon credits are just one idea. Soemthing to make poluting companies more accountable. You got any better ideas? BEstys chart should help many of you quite a bit. We are on an outlier trend up, that we haven't seen in hundreds of thousands of years. Oh well, I guess the sun just got stronger or something.

The Watchtower abandons their 1914 doctrine!

Seraphim,
I understand what you are thinking, but it is simply not accurate. They have not adjusted their view on 1914. The significance lies in 1919 and what they say did and did not happen there. Trust, there are plenty of questions and wacko things to pick apart. Best to stay on track with what they ACTUALLY are teaching for the sake of being able to actually talk to someone about it accurately.
Better yet, why don't you explain to me what in the article abandons "1914".
Maybe I am misunderstanding your point.

San Diego
I have travelled alot, and I am sure there is an arguement for almost anywhere. I didn't grow up in San Diego, and I may even live in other places (I really think Buenos Aires is amazing and the people aren't as stuck up as you are told), but I always go back and live there.
Its just fantastic. Best of all worlds. Is there traffic? Yeah. But it isn't like LA. Is it touristy? Sometimes, but locals rule. Is there craft beer? Oh yeah baby.
And the 350 days fo sun a year mean you are getting plenty of vitamin D. Did I mention the people are generally nice, it is one of the most diverse cities in the country, and you are still close to the desert and the mountains as well as the beach?
Second largest city in Cali and it doesn't feel like it. Its a great place to live.

This has huge implications people.
Hey there Seraphin,
The article is of course significant, and there have been several threads and articles from this community discussing it. But the paragraph that you copied, has 2 OLD points that have already been taught, and one "NEW" point about when domestics are subjected.
None of this affect the current significance of 1914. I already let the site know that they need to retool their claim in order to be honest and accuratly reflect the changes being diseminated.

Ummmmmm. Am I alone in wondering what the site is talking about? They aren't even making a point, just linking an already public magazine. The society has not abandon the significance of 1914, in fact they are doubling down on it if anything.
This statement just is vague and not accurate.
Newest Light 2013: It has taken 100 years, but it seems the Watchtower is now subtly admitting that almost everything they once taught about 1914 was wrong (Watchtower, 2013 July 15 pp. 3-8).
You should download this PDF of the July 15, 2013 Watchtower while you still can.
Its public and available online dinkus. "While you still can" is kind of a misnomer don't you think?
