An experiment: Open House for Demons
by return of parakeet ini feel cheated that never, not once, as a dub or as a ex-dub, did i experience the presence, manifestation, or just-things-flying-around, of demons.
not so much as a teacup levitating from its saucer.
no inexplicable cold spots.

CLOUD ATLAS: a movie or a life experience?
by Terry inmy 19 year old daughter lily and i attended the opening day of cloud atlas.. .
i would suggest you watch this little "overview" before continuing.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubk647t944a&feature=bfa&list=plvfin74qx3twq2dnqx5f4wlrrr5b-pez7.
movies can be a lot of things ranging from mindless entertainment, spectacle, diversion, exploitation and such to straight storytelling.. what movies almost never are is what cloud atlas is.. what is it?.

Cloud Atlas was well done in my opinion. I don't take it as a life change, just a movie. But I appreciated what they were trying to convey. It seemed they dumbed it down just a bit, and in doing so their points became self-aggrandizing just a bit.
But overall, I enjoyed it very much for the stories, and the conclusions they brought the viewer to.

The 8 will never become one. The unique characteristics of the culture allow for there to be this small group speaking "as one" even when not in agreement. Even a GB member isn't safe from the GB.

Man this woman does NOT do it for me. I gues she has that anorexic alien thing the magazines seem to like, but she is not the bees knees ya dig?
If it makes her feel any better, I think most of the "public" doesn't know who the hell she is either.

While I don't agree with my Trinitarian friends here that God is a nature and Jesus a hybrid of dual natures, they are 100% correct that most JW's do not know anything about the mainstream Trinitarian theology. While I still agree there would be no need for Jesus to pray to his father if they shared the same Omnicient "nature", in their current evolution of understanding that doctrine, the explanation works against that arguement.
So Jesus and his father according to Trinitarians are indeed separate people, but are both "God" in the sense that God is a nature (such as human is a nature), and not a person.
While I do not believe this is biblical, it is what Trinitarians believe. So when I explained this to any JW (even when I was swimming in Kool-aid), they gave me this weird look like I was defending the doctrine.
It was maddening.
p.s. - On the polytheism note, calling Jesus "a god" in no way is accurate as it relates to polytheism, as the arguements above are to actual trinitarianism.

Anybody else kinda intrigued about Oprah interviewing Lance Armstrong?
by Theocratic Sedition ini'm a bit excited about this to be honest with you.
i'm not even remotely a cycling fan, but all this controversy made it a bit difficult to simply ignore.
i'm curious to see how he does when those questions come at him full force.

Lance cheated. Cheating is worse than lying. When you cheat and take first place, if second place didn't cheat, he loses out on the glory, the sponsors, themoney, his/her name being promoted, and more. This is life changing in these "fringe" sports.
Marion Jones is just as bad. Barry Bonds is just as bad. These guys steal the spotlight, the money, the attention, and the praise that deserves to go to those that play by the rules. There are legitimate suppliments that help workout, help recovery etc.. Then there are the things these people used, so give them a superhuman edge. Blood transfusions in between circuits on the tour? Please!!

Dilemna on shepherding
by happy@last inmy wife told me of a friend of hers who is going through a difficult time in their life.
they are what i would describe as a 'blind follower' of wt teachings, but it does give them structure that would otherwise not be there in their life.
anyhow, this person is having a tough time, the elders know about it and yet not one of them has either visited or called to see how they are!.

Pyramid.....playing with fire but trying to get a couple jabs in. I relate.
Hey bud, don't send an elder. Go be a friend yourself. It will mean more, and be better. Might even be able to do like Pyramid Scheme and plant some very cautiously selected seeds.
