i'm about 4 months into my fade- things were going ok at first.
if i didn't get ready to go to the meeting or fs, neither did my family.
recently, hubby has become more sensitive and now will take the family whether i go or not.
Argh! This is always very difficult, because you just never know how its going to end up. My wife takes our toddler to the hall. She is slowly waking up, but even still, cannot envision herself away from the hall because of family. She would rather live a double life (in reverse), than give up her fam.
So my kid now just goes and hangs out and gets attention from really nice people. But once he starts understanding things, lets just say that wednesdays will be "daddy days".
now i am going to do a rear thing here and i am going to stick up for the wts.
i realise that the wts hasn't got the best of track record, and sure they have made mistakes.
but if i was to go to another church wouldn't they still have the same issues.

Well your question got alot of traction. There are some good simple answers to think about, and others just sharing their opinion. I will basically offer the same. The fact that you don't want to hear any particular answer is maybe something consider. In other words, you are willing to entertain ideas that fall within parameters you have already set? Hmmm.
My main issue with JW's as I fade away (I am mid-fade, getting the wife out, throwing a few comments to friends, and its going well), is not error, its not false teaching doctrinally, its not even evolving doctrine........its the arrogance and the enforcement of belief through shunning and ostracizing. its the culture that cannot be permiated or questioned, without having yourself subject to modern day inquisitions and possible banishment where even the natural bond between loved ones is broken.
There are much more good people than bad that are JW's. But this is not a people thing. It is a POLICY thing. You can be an adventist, and publicly disagree with something. Same goes for pretty much every religion sans Mormons, JW's, and Scientologists. Scientologists and JW's have a ton in common when it comes to enforcement of belief, and the cutting of ties with family members.
I like the Unitarians too.

i was just doing dishes not really thinking about anything in particular, and all of a sudden this experience came flooding back and i started crying.. a few years ago i went back to one of the states i lived in to see/visit my friends (before i learned ttatt, i was still a happy borg at this time).. the friends i were staying with had two young girls, one was 3rd grade and the other was preschool.
so one day the father comes home after picking up the older girl (i think she was 7, 8...i'm not sure exactly this was several years ago) and she was all red and looked like she had been crying.

my wife and i are atheists, raised and living as jehovah's witnesses.
Here is what she is going to say in some form or another.
Jehovah is a God fo the living and of the dead, so the punishment of those families which included their children because of his law, is not without a way out. Jesus shed blood covers all of humanity, and the babies that dies during that time will get to be resurrected in the new world.
Then what you are going to say is, where des it say that in the bible, and why the heck would Jehovah slaughter babies and just raise them up a few minutes later (a few minutes to him that is). In addition, ask them if they have ever heard of Camp 14 in North Korea. Anderson Cooper did an interview with a young man who was born there and escaped. He was born there because his grandfather was a political dissident, and the jerks in charge over there have a "3 generations of punishment" policy to purge dissention. So Jehovah and the North Korean dictatorship think the same?

Hello Apocalype. I do not know you, and as a newer member and a younger member of this board, all I can do is offer you my poor excuse for an opinion. 1 man does in fact matter. We are a community of people, and no one person acting in the interest of others is ever alone. Part of the reason I support any group no matter what its struggles or current incarnation regarding WT activities, is because of the need for community.
You would take delight in the WT being bulldozed. That is by definition "anti" watchtower. Yet you remain in some form because of people and your conscience. You even serve those whom you do not agree with. I have actually considered your route. I have an iron stomach, and tried to justify to myself that being an inside man would allow me to help more people, and do more good.
Then I had a child who is still very small. So that is no longer a consideration, because I would be allowing, even fomenting the indoctrination of my child.
One man or woman makes a difference, when that person acts with integrity for the sake of their community and others.
From what I understand, that is exactly what happened. The UN thing was never a huge deal for me personally, but many people have been woken up as a result of it, so bravo.
