  We Pray For The Governing Body...

  at the meetings i've noticed over the past 2 years or so brothers asking for 'special blessings' for the governing body.

  it was everyonce in a while at first.

  now it is almost at every single meeting!

  I had an elder tell me while I was speaking to him, that these men are his "friends" and he is fiercely loyal and defensive of his close friends.

  He had never met any of the current GB members.

  I'm not a founding member, but I just read your letter, and I appreciate it very much. It is amazing to me that 10 years ago the thoughts contained in your letter still morror those like myself who have only left recently.

  The branch has not changed. I wonder, have you had any contact with your brother in 10 years?

  as many of you know, whom have been in the org for a while.. the wt is hard coded into your mind.

  Hey Objective truth.......someone correct me if I am wrong, but this is now "old light". I believe they acknowledge that the evil slave would be the FDS if they didn't fullfill their commision which as we know is completely impossible because of how great things are going.

  Its in the "new light series" from I think it was October?

  Growing a beard!!

  i am doing one of my dreams for a while: growing a beard.

  it may not seem like much, but it's quite the experience for me.

  it's probably a rite of passage from jw to exjw lol.. besides the itchyness, i hate it that it curls so much (i have hairs that naturally start to curl after a certain length).. anyone here have tips on taking care of a beard?

  The kindness of (worldly) strangers

  yesterday i went surfing, when i had finished and got changed i tried to start my car, no joy.

  there were about 12 cars in the car park and the occupants of 8 of the cars all tried to help out at some point as they could see i was having difficulties, one guy even drove to a garage 5 miles away to get me a coffee i didn't even ask for as it was a freezing cold day and a couple of them let me sit in their cars to warm up while i waited for the rac.

  contrast this to a time when i was in and my car wouldn't start (different car lol) in a kh car park and all i got was snarky comments, or advice in passing but no one stopped to help out.. i know who i prefer, has anyone else been helped by the evil worldly's while ignored by the loving jw's.

  I have had good and bad experiences with both JW's and regular people. I can't say one is better or worse than another. People are people. Good people do good things.

  Lately for some reason if I go through a starbucks drive through, I have had people paying for my coffee in front of me. Maybe they give me a wave, but usually they are already gone. Just simple nice things to do for other people are a big deal.

  Moley where were you surfing in the freezing cold? Ouch!

  Disfellowshipped daughter not told of father's death

  my wife was informed by her father that an old jw friend had died so she decided to text his daughter ( who lives abroad & is disfellowshipped ) her condolences.

  immediately the daughter phoned my wife in great anguish as she hadnt been informed that her father had died ( bearing in mind this event had happened 3 days previously.

  ) of course any chance that she might have had for coming over for the funeral had past.. her two brothers are elders and her sister is a regular pioneer but not one of them had thought to let their sister know.

  I think Jehovah's Witnesses are the only religion that truly feel the more they abuse someone, the more that person will want to be part of the group. They've taken "tough love" to an incomprehensibly cruel level.

  Bingo! Although I doubt there is any data they have that could suggest that this actually works! I mean, people should be flooding back! This story made me physically angry.

  well what a great spiritual feast weve had!

  im not going to go into the "bible study" because it was more about how merciful and loving etc that god is.. so fast forward to the school:.

  Seriously that was a teaching point? Unbelieveable.

  You also said this.

  Now. This is all fine and good but i thought "Wait a minute, does the Bible say theres one mediator between God and men, a MAN, Jesus Christ"....and so i thought "Hie is the mediator a man if hes a spirit?" weird.

  So their actual explanation for this is that mediator is used primarily as a legal term, and since those of the 144K are the only ones IN the "new covenant", that legal term applies only to them. Also......(not kidding), the believe since the scripture says "between God and men" instead of "all men", that it does not apply to all men, but rather a specific group.

  War over preparing for WT study

  i know that title sounds weird but so is this situation.

  with the following information i'm about to desconspire myself a little bit, but i don't really care since i will simply deny it if any of my elders are lurking here.

  anyway the situation is the following.

  Here is the point. If you are not an MS, or not in a position you are afraid to lose or care about loosing, you have MUCH mre freedom than you think.

  May I ask what country you are in? Is it a south american country? The culture in various places, plays a large part in how some of these rural MS's view themselves. Especially when they conduct the WT!! My what a priviledge!!

  In your house, you may act as you feel. If he disrespectfully says something passive aggresive, you simply speak out loud on behalf of yourself, and say "brother that is uncalled for and disrespecful. Please think twice before making disrespectful statements to your hosts in the future."

  That ALONE will humiliate him, and you CANNOT be touched. See what I mean? You have nothing to lose, and you cannot be DF'd for pointing out to him he is an asshole while being an asshole. You just can't.

  Enjoy it. Experience it. Its normal to be able to be authentic.

  Also, I am sure there is an article or KM on the length of the meetings and keeping on time. Find one, print it, and counsel him on it.
