police and other security services have been handed a list of banned books that they will seek to remove and destroy in raids planned for the future in azerbaijan.the list mostly contains muslim texts and books such as those by dr. said nursi a muslim theologian.
i addition , this list contains .... .
read the rest of the post here.
Watchtower or not, I'm no fan of any place that bans books. And Azerbaijan has a pretty terrible past in regards to how it dealt with Armenia.
Azerbaijan = the real problem in this scenario.
the gb can kiss my ass.. i'm writing "0" on the little slip of paper they pass out.. hey here's a thought:.
you know that "widow's might" stuff they're always talking about?
well i'm pretty dang sure that the lady was giving from the heart not because she filled out some dumba$$ piece of paper pledging two small coins several months previous!.
Auto checking account debits are what are going to happen. Maybe by next year. Its convenient, totally under the publishers control (all you have to do is tell the servant in charge to stop payment......yeah right), and the branch will get a general idea of how much they have to play with each month.
Its going to happen. i called it when the machines showed up in the assembly halls.
musing over several rather eye-opening reactions i've recently experienced has made me wonder what others have been told that made them go...wow.. my earliest was a family member upset with me for not attending meetings who exclaimed, "but you're going to die at armageddon!
" i told them that wasn't true because the bible says that god is love and he doesn't work that way.
they were very angry with me!
It can if not surprising, be shocking that people you considered your friends can so quicky forget kindness, your history together, and your "friendship", simply because you begin to think differently.
But your friendships are usually a triad. Once you remove the religion, the triagle falls apart.
This one isn't mine but its a good one. Someone who grew up in my hall when I was young, came out as gay when he was 20. Moved, stopped attending, got married in another state, never was disfellowshipped.
His mother being the good christian she is hasn't spoken to him for 7 years. But she did find the time to write condolance cards.......like what you would send to a funeral.....to her still alive, married for 20 years to his partner with 2 children son.
Pretty bizarre.
i heard that the witnesses used to smoke back in the day.
is this true?
if so, what was the reasoning behind this?.
FL panthers, the arguement used is that while it is natural (even jesus had a beard?), society frowns upon it and the message would suffer. You can't even have a beard while cooking at In N Out!!!
But really society has moved beyond that in the US by and large. I can't throw a stone in the air in California and not hit 3 hipsters with various beards on the way down.
im in a bit of a bind and im not quite sure what (if anything) i can do about it.
i was recently hired as a business consultant for a rather large company.
the company that hired me mentioned that they are concerned about a certain department and the way its being run, as this department affects every other department in the company.
Lets lay off noon tide. He/she is not asking a professional forum question, but consulting with "peers" on the human side of a business decision.
That being said however, I am sure as a consultant, you are used to being resented for your presence. I would say unequivocally as a person who runs a small business myself, do NOT get into how or why this guy is the way it is. Too much room for misinterpretation by those that don't understand, and too much cause for liability where it isn't needed.
The answer is already in your comments. He is an indian, not a chief. Nuff said.
Director must have
-Solid management charictaristics
-Flexible work schedule
-Ability to make hard decisions
He needs
-Ridgid schedule
-Is considered "weird" and is the head of HR?
-Seems to be overly "timid" when acting in a directorial role.
I think he can be moved around and his posision be tooled to be more lower middle management, while replacing him with someone more capable. He will still be in the department, still be well liked, you know he will "meekly" handle it, and you can fix what is needed.
Thoughts?
i have been thinking of a simple one liner to use when challenged as to why i dont seem to be an "active / good" witness.... "i no longer wish to be considered as 'bloodguilty' thanks" and leave it at that.. if said in a dignified, (not in a smart arse way), then i think this may make people see that my desicion is a sound one based on logic and not emotion..... thoughts?.
Hmmm. It depends on what you want to convey.
I like this......."my conscience will no longer allow me to directly support the governing bodys current teachings".
Its strong, a bit insulting, but clear, and won't get you in a JC.
i heard that the witnesses used to smoke back in the day.

FL panthers.......you are seeing the non reasoning first hand.
Sugar is addictive. The combinations of sugar, fat, and salt have drug like influence on the brain. Smoking is not a good practice, and it is more addictive than caffeine.....but technically both are addictive substances. Mormons ususally abstain from coffee and coke because it contains an "addictive" substance and it is unclean to them to be addicted even mildly. JW's would scoff at this of course.
Ask the 400 pound sister in the hall is she is addicted to food, and then think if that would be different than smoking.
Ask yourself why jehovah made hair grow on our faces, but wanted us to make sure to shave it off.
Technically you can have a beard and go to meetings. You just would be non-conforming, and a rebel. Not allowed to hold priviledges, but not be punished.
SMOKING, is a disfellowshipping offense. I met someone recently who at 19 (3 years ago), was disfellowshipped for smoking. Can you believe that?
19!!!
one elder in my cong told me that this is a df offense?
is this true?
can yoga be practised?.
Well technically......ANYTHING is a disfellowshipping offense if you are non repentant. or so I was told by a CO when i was little.
Really you would have to try very hard to get disfellowshippd while doing yoga, unless you were doing it at the temple. If you are going to 24 hour fitness, or the local "poses", I doubt that would get much traction.
They do strongly discourage it just like rap, rated R movies, reading non GB material about the bible, thinking internally or peeing while standing.........but once again, I think yu would be hard pressed to be disfellowshipped for those things.
first off - for those lurkers who feel guilty just for being on this site and reading this (even if you don't read any further, as it is your right to choose that course) i want you to know that you're not alone in what you're going through or in what you are feeling.
if you read on, i hope my experience may be of some small help to you.. this may be long, but i'll try to organize it in a way that doesn't make it painful to read.
to start, i feel it is most beneficial if i'm upfront and honest with my goals from posting this, which are (in order of the degree to which they motivated me):.
The similarities to alot of the men around the same age that have been here in recent months is staggering. All with wives that are going to be hard to pull away, each for their own reasons.
If its any consolation, my wife has stopped attending all together, and even thoguh she wants to "research a few things" we celebrated my sons birthday and hers. So you could say she is rolling over to the dark side.
SHe was a pioneer for 16 years, married me because she thought she would be a CO's wife, we planned to be childless, we served overseas, etc... If she can get out, ANYONE can get out. It was rough. We had our moments. But it was usually because i pressed the issue.
So you are 29. Is there a reason you are not an MS? Perhaps you will have an easier time "fading" than someone who has been appointed would have. More than anything, you have to reasure her of your love for her. remember, if you have doubts, and fall away, you in her mind become something you are not. Make sure what you really are at that point, is even better than who you are now.
What part of the world are you in? I'm in southern california.
