  I am kind of sad right now!

  this is my dog meenu(pronounced me-new).

  a couple of days ago i noticed her eyes were starting to swell so i took her to the vet yesterday.

  they told me that she has glaucoma in both eyes.

  Hello KK,

  I'm sorry to hear about your dog. Glaucoma is a terrible disease - I've learned a lot about it since ny son [age 4 1/2] was diagnosed with it in March of this year. He has been on as many as 5 different eye drops at one time and has had six eye surgeries that have not been successful in controlling the pressure. Just as I did not know children could get glaucoma [or be born with it] I did not know dogs could get it either. There are a number of eye drops and even oral medication for people with glaucoma, if the drops your vet has prescribed do not help you may want to ask him if any of the drops that are available for humans would help.

  what qualities do you feel are important if you want to make a name for yourself in business?.

  is it wise to be the nice guy, who does everything with fairness in mind or is it better to be a hardnosed, lying, manipulative bastard?.

  Hi Celtic,

  I've been in business for three years and I definitely agree that being fair and honest is the way to go. I spend no money on advertising - all my clients [I'm a medical transcriptionist] I acquired by word of mouth from my very first client [my former boss]. Having a reputation for being honest, hardworking and flexible is priceless.

  Life sucks

  all right- all those out there who own pets, or have owned pets will hopefully see my point of view and understand.

  the rest of you can point and laugh at my weakness.... my cat is dying.

  she is 119 in people years, i guess it's to be expected that she go sometime, but still it sucks!

  Sometimes our pets are the best friends we have. When my dog is stretched out on the floor like a big rug, if I just talk to him from across the room his tail wags. When I get up in the morning he follows me around and plasters his head to my leg. If I move an inch, he moves an inch so his head stays plastered to my leg until he's had enough 'Mommy time'. Sometimes that's more attention than I get from my kids.

  It's more than okay to grieve for the loss of that kind of unconditional love.

  last night i was visiting with one of my friends who works at the local police dept.

  she was talking about a guy that had to come in and register as a sex offender.

  he claims that this girl said she was 18, was really only 13 and he was convicted of rape, served 1 year in jail.

  Personally I don't think even the government does enough. They should tattoo a giant "L" on the guy's forehead for "LOSER" and make him wear that for the rest of his life.

  Any (original) Star Trek Fans?

  anyone remember the one where kirk got mixed up in the transporter and spit into two people?

  one kirk was mean and violent and nasty and tried to feel up yoman rand and swore a lot and attacked people for no good reason.

  the other kirk was sweet and nice and he seemed better, but he was kind of a woosie and couldn't make a decision or do anything meaningful except talk about denuvian slime bread toppings and he couldn't even get a bulge in the spandex for yoman rand, but at least he was polite.. gosh, i don't know what made me think of this episode.. night all,.

  Hi all,

  I must confess - I was a teenaged trekkie.

  Yes, it's true. I was raised on Original Trek and my DH and I met at a Star Trek Convention. Our daughter even had a onsie made for her with a trek insignia on it. We got rid of our uniforms a couple of years ago [yes, we had uniforms - please don't judge us]. One of our wedding gifts was a model of the original Enterprise - hand painted down to the last detail, and we came into the reception to the theme of ST:NG. We didn't get married in our uniforms, but we thought about it.

  I think the episode wasasister mentioned was called "The Enemy Within." I used to know all the titles of the original series and I read all the novels too - [finally gave up on that because the writing got really bad]. If anyone's interested in a good Trek novel - try anything by Peter David - he's probably the best trek writer.

  If anyone wants to shun me now, I understand completely.

  are westerners the evil of the world?.

  western lands have gleefully exploited the worlds resources over the past 200 years.most of us have taken advatage of what our economies have offered to us.but has and does our life style not only ruin the earth but ensures that other countries remain pour.. the goods we demand and are used to having ,have a cost to the environment .we want them cheap , this ensures low wages where big western companies can get cheap labour.the size and power of western business means that pourer countries cant grow economically.the big western business are so powerful that they earn more money than entire countries.. suvival of the fittest has taken its toll on mankind while we live in comfort the majority of earth inhabitants don't.how much is our fault?

  I'm sure I'm opening up a can of worms here, but I don't think the west should be blamed entirely for the problems of the rest of the world. Societies that segregate classes, sexes and religions are also to blame, governments and religions that prevent followers from seeking health care and higher education, and cultural mores that devalue education, birth control, medicine and technology are responsible for some of the world's problems too.
