Maybe they'll start dishing out virtual reality goggles and tranquilisers to everyone and then they can announce that the paradise is here

Just Fake It!
by Scorpion injune 15,2000 watchtower on page 7 we find a nice picture of four people sitting in a park (with the traditional basket of fruit).
under the picture they state: "why not envision yourself already enjoying peaceful and rightous conditions in paradise?".
the fact is that the watchtower society has not been able to deliver on their promise of a new world order so, just pretend!.

Can the Redwoods Date the Flood?
by Seven inscience, biblical and anti-biblical, recognizes that there was a period of time in the distant past when the earth was barren.
how long ago and how long it lasted is a matter of conjecture...unless one accepts the biblical record.
but out in california, almost as far west as one can go, there stand beautiful monuments to the past-the redwoods: monuments that were seedlings when noah was laid to rest; saplings when the tower of babylon was deserted; stalwart young giants when david downed his giant.

Hi Seven
I think I've heard of them somewhere - possible some of the societies quotes and 'evidence' such as found in the creation book originates with them (I found a site somewhere that traced the quotes to the original sources).
This site http://www.talkorigins.org/ has some good for/against arguments on a lot of evidence like this. More objective than the hard-line creationists who tend to just discount any evidence which doesn't support their theory. -

Its similar to how the Catholic church viewed sex/women and got everything mixed up. In the book of sins masturbation was a much more serious crime than rape as as least rape could lead to pregnancy which was gods arrangement...Same as in the bible really - what happened to a woman who was raped ? She had to marry him...
What amazes me is how many sisters in the cong put up with the put downs and go along with it all. -

AhHah - I, for one, like to have some proper debate & conversation as well as the small talk. Surely there is room for both - you just join in whichever you want. I don't understand why everyone seems to have an issue with some of your posts. I thought the survey / voting thing was a good idea and would put some life back into this place.
Please don't be put off...post away and I'm sure people will join in. -

How about a survey?
by AhHah ini thought it might be interesting to post a survey for those who post on this forum.. perhaps it will provide a basis for some additional stimulating discussions on god and religion.. with that in mind, i have posted a survey of 10 yes/no/unsure questions on the bible/research forum.

It has been a bit quiet here lately and I'm sure there's just been some misunderstanding on more than one part.
I think the survey thing is a good idea but should be done anonymously. I could do it so that it will only allow each person to vote once but not actually record how each individual voted. The results could be compiled into a graph as the votes are cast.
How about a weekly poll ? I'm sure you've all seen similar things on other sites. It is easiest to do a single question which allows for a choice of 2 or more replies.
BTW: It is also worth reiterating that EVERYONE is welcome - it is supposed to be an informal support site. There will always be disagreements and misunderstandings but lets forgive and forget eh?
Thanks -

God and religion etc..............................
by Zep inthe communist world, it may be noted, has one big myth (which we call an illusion, in the vain hope that our superior judgment will make it disappear) it is the time hallowed archetypal dream of a golden age (or paradise), where everything is provided in abundance for everyone, and a great, just, and wise chief rules over a human kindergarten.
this powerful archetype in its infantile form has gripped them, but it will never disappear from the world at the mere sight of our superior points of view.
we even support it by our own childishness, for our western civilisation is in the grip of the same mythology.

I had a look at PERL once...way too complicated for me - I was raised on COBOL and BASIC so all that shorthand stuff is just too cryptic.
The new version I'm working on is all XML / XSL - I find it helps to learn stuff if you do real projects with it.
