  What an awful take by the self-proclaimed expert in "legal".

  First, the person making a false claim should be jailed for exactly as long as one of her victims would have been jailed for. The fact is she got a very lenient sentence for destroying the lives of several completely innocent men. but at least, for once, the perp of a hoax faces proper jail time.

  Second, what does that have to do at all with any genuine victim? How is it sending a "terrible message"? A terrible message would be letting them off completely free of consequences, because nothing erodes sympathy and support for actual victims than pretend victims abusing and clogging up the legal system to try an hurt others and profit.

  Which is probably what he really objects to - the idea that pretend "victims", using it as a grift to make money, should be held accountable in any way for their lies and attempts to harm others.

  So, rather than filing a formal complaint, which would allow the police to follow through a more in-depth investigation, and potentially protect the members of congregation, they chose to protect the reputation of the Watchtower Corporation and instead send an anonymous tip to the police,

  Sorry, but what?

  First of all, isn't the idea of "anonymous" that you don't know who sent it? So why are we assuming that it was the local elders?

  Second, what exactly do people expect the elders to do? Were they meant to mind-read and tell the police all his plans?

  Third, how exactly does this affect the reputation of the WTS in any way shape or form? How would sending a tip?

  Isn't it more realistic that someone maybe knew he was unstable, possibly that he had a weapon, and that he had made threats against people?

  Let's not have ridiculous expectations or look so desperate to somehow blame an elder for something that we appear like unhinged nutters!

  Exactly. This wasn't someone created by the WTS. This is someone that likely latched on to them because of his delusions. I've seen tweets that show how desperate some exJWs are to use any tragedy to put some blame on the WTS but it appears they had the misfortune to attract one more nutcase but had the sense to kick the idiot out.

  Unfortunately, the police failed. He clearly had no business having a weapon. If only he'd committed a real crime such as misgendering someone or suggesting that Covid came from China, they may have saved some lives.

  Nothing the WTS does could ever justify firing a weapon into a crowd of strangers. Anyone suggesting there is somehow some reason that justifies such a thing is a vile idiot who needs to sit down and have a long think about how and why they have lost the plot. Don't be blinding by hatred or desire for petty revenge. Don't think that JWs are your enemy.

  The guy sounds like a grade A nutcase. He thought he was a consultant worth €250,000 per day. That right there is a delusional crazy person. The fact that he had disagreements with his employer, and the JWs, shows that he was most likely a disagreeable idiot.

  The police were warned, but unfortunately the police did nothing, and now a baby will never be born and multiple people have lost loved ones. All innocents caught up in someone else's inability to sort out their own shit.

  This is why unbalanced outlooks that foster resentment and retaliation rather than inward reflection and learning are dangerous and should be discouraged. It may be 1 in a million who end up acting on things, but the consequences are horrendous.

  I don't think "don't do that!" is really even much of a specific JW thing. Only weirdo pedo parents actively encourage it AFAIK.

  But the idea that a fairly common 'rule' that you never even followed somehow altered you is laughable. It's the best "I'm a victim too" card he could come up with. Pitiful.
