Who is Simon and what does Simon say? ;)
by Jonny inis this db run by a jehovah's witness?.
1 what is your history simon?.
2 are you a baptized and non disfellowshiped brother?.

Simon
There are probably a few people asking these questions, so briefly:
1 What is your history Simon?
The links that Path gave you probably cover this one2 Are you a baptized and non disfellowshiped brother?
Yes to both3 Have you avoided DF:ing, and now avoid JW's and meetings?
I haven't 'avoided' it as such...I haven't done anything according to the bible that requires it. I don't avoid JW's or meetings but have been the subject of a lot of malicious gossip which mean I don't go as much as I did. -

a forum question
by Helen innow don't get mad or even upset with me and make me feel bad for asking..but how come you do not use your name?
i know you want to be "unknown or incognito" but will someone really know its you if you are debbie from texas?
or mary from ohio?
-
Simon
I think you're right Helen - no one will really know if you use your real name BUT if you have your email address visible as well theis could identify you.
Some people may wish to remain anonymous while they begin asking questions or getting advice and opinions and it's important that they can do this.
I show my real name and Email address and nothing bad has happened to me either. -

by MoodyBlue ini'm new here, having come after the shut down of witnet... i've been a "lurker" for a while, and figured i should introduce myself.

Hi MB
I see waiting has already introduced everyone to our 'sex forum'...good grief, what will all these new people think of us! -

Witnet closes its Door for good...
by Pathofthorns inkind of a sad but inevitable end to a special and unique place on the net.
free speech is severely limited in the truth, and the wide range of opinion and viewpoint between the old school and the new school i'm sure made operating such a site a challenge.. for me the most facinating thing was the way one could see thinking troubled witnesses contrasted with the ones who were the mindless products of an organization.
i think it was a valuable window into the worldwide picture of what is happening today in the religion.. the site was helpful to me, and for that it holds a special place with me.

Yes, I would be able to read messages unless I built in some sort of encryption. This does make support difficult though and, thanks to crazy new UK laws, could mean I could be guilty of a criminal offence. If I was asked to divulge the contents to any law enforcement agency they would not accept the fact that I myself didn't have access as an excuse!
I would plan on private messages not being accessible to moderators though (if we ever get any!). -

Farewell 2000. Thanks everyone :)
by Pathofthorns init that time of the year, for me anyway, that i start to look back on the the past year's events, where i've been and where i'm going.
its certainly been both the best and also the most difficult year of my life so far.
definitely a turning point.. i can't say i've had any regrets this year.

Thanks for the thanks Path!
I really have enjoyed running this forum for *almost* a year now - having other people to talk to and finding new friends with similar experiences has certainly helped me too.
I hope everyone has a great break over the Christmas period and an enjoyable new year! -

Yes...we never close threads here...although I must admit that it does have a lot to do with the fact that I never finished writing that bit of the software
The new version I'm working on will add a lot more features that ex-Witnet members will probably be used to such as Private Messaging and also some new stuff such as Buddy Lists and Instant Chat.
It's coming...honest ! -

Yes, it's a pity there wasn't a successful hand-over to keep the site running or to transfer the members. I know Obed tried but unfortunately, it didn't work out. I guess it's up to each individual to find the place that suits them though - some thought that too much freedom of speech was a bad thing and will probably end up at the stricter boards and others may go to the more 'dissident' places like H20...looks like a few have come here and of course are welcome. We're the laid back / relaxed group...

I think Obed has put a lot of hard work in to Witnesses.net and has helped a lot of people.
I hope he enjoys whatever he devotes decides to devote his time to from now on. -

Thinkers wife
by thinker inthanks for the support.
it is very hard after having been raised as a witness, to strike out and make new friends.
and my family refuses to accept my new husband.

Simon
Hi thinker
Me and my wife have found that making friends has been the hardest thing - being raised a witness kind of makes you socially inept and the ingrained suspicion of those not 'in the truth' doesn't help either.
