  Scorpion - there is a WT a year earlier (1951) which laments the fact that imperfect / unrighteous human governments won't allow them to kill ex-members like the Isrealites were able to.... Not the sort of 'christian love' message they try to convey now !
  It is on the CD - I have it saved somewhere too, will post the full quote if I find it.

  prisca's comments about wol made me wonder about official wts sanctioned spies and moles.

  we all know for a fact that to the wts lies are ok, and spying does happen.

  does anyone know of officially appointed wts spies, or do hard-core militant and/or plain old sneaky jw's just feel it is their duty?

  Unfortunately, we were both 'good witnesses' and didn't have worldly associations. When most of your friends and family turn their back on you it *is* difficult.
  I realise now that being brought up a witness is a real social handicap. I often am completely lost when trying to 'be friends' with someone. Nice to have friends here - it's much easier like this!
  We are making more fiends gradually and they are much, much nicer than the so-called ones that we had at the congregation (some were very nice though)

  The Dune Movie

  did anyone see the dune movie on sci-fi channel a few months back?

  thought it was really beautifully done!

  of course if i hadn't read the books i woulda been a bit confused, but the cinematography was great.. one persons heresy is anothers truth

  I loved the film bott the books are way better...they do go a *bit* strange though esp. God Emperor of Dune where the guy turns into a worm. Anyone who has not read them will be thinking *real wierd* !
  It's interesting how Paul Atraides is the hero in the first and turns our to be not-so-much-the-hero in later books and Duncan, with a bit part at first, becomes the centre of everything.
  I think it's about time I re-read them...

  1. what is the basis for believing all religions other than jw are false?

  is there a scripture that states this?

  How could they claim that Jesus was a descendant of David via Joseph if he wasn't his father?
  Who would attempt to make such a rediculous claim unless he was - the whole idea of the virgin birth being based on a mistranslation of 'almah' meaning 'young woman' instead of the hebrew term for physical virgin.

  I don't think they have anything organised but there are always those who take it upon themselves to take action and excuse it by imagining that they have Jehovahs blessing somehow.
  The kind of people that write 'Apostate' on my car.
  The type that slash other brothers tyres during the Kingdom Hall
