  Did Your District Conventions Have A Meat Market?

  i was recently thinking back upon some of my unusual memories of being in the organization.

  one of them was of the dodger stadium "meat market".. we used to attend our district conventions at dodger stadium in los angeles.

  for those of you who arent familiar with the stadium, dodger stadium has a very large level with blue seats - which is the largest level within the stadium.

  You know, it was absolutely necessary to wear sundresses to the convention in Dodger ... it was HOT ... and you could get a tan at the same time .. I used to bring suntan lotion! I remember thinking that when I lived in Northern California, there is no way you could get away with the sundresses we wore there .. but that was because in SF, the conventions were at the Cow Palace, in doors and freezing outside!

  i suppose that when most of us who are fortunate not to have been the victim of sexual assault hear the word "rape kit", we tend to think of it specifically in terms of forensic analysis and examination--dna collection, trauma, that whole sort of thing.

  but rape kits also contain...emergency contraception.. .

  In the 5 years I have been at my house, I have had 2 JW's catch me at home. I have always taken the mags and have never had a return visit even though I asked if they could come back or just leave the mags at my doorstep. It amazes me that they don't come back but you know, they'd probably say if I really wanted the mags I should just go to the KH.

  to all my very dear friends, yes i am here and well, i have been getting new medical help for my severe headaches and must admitt i am getting some positive relief.

  the treatment isn't so pleasant however just for the relief of some terrible headaches for a couple of days i am willing to go through the treatment.. also i am now officailly off of my opiate drugs.

  she is 3 and a half years old and came up with that excuse as to why she cannot wear pull-ups with her nightgown.

  i have no idea where she got that idea that she could ever ever look fat!!!!!

  Jehovah's Witnesses can celebrate Christmas now!

  well, not yet, but if the governing body decides that it's okay to celebrate christmas and birthdays .... how do you suppose the typical jw would feel ... especially those who lived their whole life being told to not celebrate and.

  If they let people celebrate birthdays and Christmas, more people would join.... but I don't think they'd ever consider doing that. I think just because there were 2 deaths associated with birthdays is NOT a good reason to disallow birthdays. Who said you worship/elevate yourself or your child on that day. Sure some go overboard but has anybody ever been to a 500 guest wedding at a country club? Hello??

  What the Hades is going on at the local Kingdom Hall?

  the kh that i attended has always held it's meetings on sunday morning, and still does.

  even on the days when the co visits there are normally only a handful of cars left in the parking lot after 3 pm, as the co typically quits service and heads home by 3 or 4, and besides, if you are not in his group it is usually 'take a few doors, count an hour, and get home in time to watch the game' attitude.

  so today i drive by after work - it is 4 pm when i pass the kingdom hall, and the damned parking lot is just packed - maybe 45 or 50 cars in the lot.

  I would say it could be a meeting for all the ministerial servants and elders. Could even be more than one congregation getting together to meet before the next assembly or convention. When we had pioneer meetings with the circuit, presided over by the CO, we always met at a local Kingdom Hall ..... could be any of those. or a huge committee meeting with lots of witnesses!!!

  I thought they did something years back to remedy the Soc Security problem and did pay into SS so that there was a retirement and MediCare for them. I think they contribute at the minimum wage level. Blondie where are you?
