  A dilemma regarding the 144,000

  some of the recent posts regarding the "anointed" got me thinking about some of the characters that i have met, or have known about, professing membership among this elite class of people.. one particular character i know of, even today espousing some, shall we say, interesting viewpoints on matters, had an even more interesting past.

  it seems that some years ago (c. 1970's) a typically subdued but otherwise ordinary christian meeting was being closed with a prayer at a small kingdom hall in the north eastern usa when it was suddenly disrupted by this individual (even then professing to be anointed) assaulting his wife at the rear of the hall!

  he was pretty much disfellowshiped on the spot for his indiscretion.

  five gospels....

  the THEORY is, that it's not the quality, but the timing of the call..

  from the first century to whatever date, all who became christians, and lived in faithfullness had the heavenly hope -- like it or not, they would go to heaven..

  in THEORY, a member of the present 'earthly class' could be more spiritual, more zealous etc... than some previous member of the anointed class.

  however, in the event, that a 'called' member of the 144,000 dies unfaithful...then it's logical that god could 'call' a replacement -- whoever he may choose to call!!!

  well! that's the theory...now let's see what evidence we can find in the bible for that..eh!!!!!!

  ANOINTED JEHOVAH WITNESS APOLOGIZES

  dear people, i posted my first post on anointed witness has no doubt stating that i have the heavenly hope and was seeking others.

  many of you responded and i read all your replies.

  i am lonely in terms of knowing few other young anointed and being an active witness, so this makes me an oddity among you and in my cong.. mnay also wondered why i was on this website of ex-witness,.

  I am unlike other men

  i'm not talking about the homo thing here.. i am very different.

  i learn differently.

  i am odd, very eccentric sense of humor.. i have decided that instead of trying to get one doctorate degree that i am going to try and get several bachelors degrees in different areas of interest.. i like too many things to concentrate on one subject.. i have worked at the same type of job for the last 20 years and have never been happy.

  yes! a little different, but not that different.

  my own interests cross a wide variety of fields....

  and i think of a friend of mine who has a masters degree in italian, and has just finished a masters degree in hindu culture, and now speaks hindu well... in the process, he has become an expert in south indian dance.

  he and his partner (who is from india), have bought a property near newcastle university, let rooms to students and are developing a plant nursery based on organic principles.

  Raj also looks after the data base for a large insurance company..

  these guys have a beautiful home (not expensive) built on a steep hillside, with the bedroom and study in the treetops, looking out over the broadwater near gosford nsw.

  i sometimes get envious - must be a beautiful place to lie in bed and make love as the moon rises over the lake....

  LOCAL KINGDOM HALL

  as i was walking past my local kingdom hall, so i heard a thud(a sort of musical thud),there were no cars or anything to indicate that anybody should have been in the kh.. could it have been demons inside making that noise?.

  maybe the local kh needs an exorcism to drive the demons out!.

  the following day after touching thekh rails, my fichemarker disappearted,.

  when i was young --- hmmm!!!! too long ago to bear thinking about...

  i was in haberfield congregation in sydney, oz. the next congregation - i forget what they called it, but most bethel people (not many in those days anyway) went there, met in croydon park, just down the road from where i now live.

  the hall they hired was over a pub (tavern type).. (convenient)..

  many brothers reckoned it was under demon attack, as often when they would come into the hall, things were scattered around, and some stuff even broken....

  so maybe there are a special 'elite' group of kingdom hall demons....

  u never know your luck in a big city!!!!!!

  just before i left i overheard an elder say that there is going to be a new nwt revision, a "organised" book revision (i heard another jw say this about 3 months ago) as well as a new ezekiel book (logically).. anyone heard this?.

  Dwindling attendance and other trends

  i've noticed in my congregation that attendance does not have the priority that it once did.

  it seems like on any given theocratic ministry school meeting there will be at least one or two subsitutions.

  some of the younger elders and ministerial servants tend to miss quite a few meetings and others have the habit of arriving 30 minutes after the meeting has started.

  yes, amazing..... the reaction of the elders and others in your experience is not unusual.

  i've known elders to kind of vet the newer meeting attenders, assessing whether they really want them in the congregation, and sometimes bemoaning the fact that they are not "quality" enough!!!!! (for them) --

  My Dad called

  the other day i sent my family a framed studio photograph that i had made for them.. i called to make sure they got it and my mom said that she did and that it was placed with the other family photos in the living room.. a few days later my dad called to thank me.

  he then went off into a tangent about how he wants me to come back to the "truth".

  i told him that i respect his right to believe as he will, but i expect the same in return.

  there is a lot of emotional pressure placed on all jws. right from the first study - some pressure is exerted to help your family 'know' this too. and to help them 'survive' armageddon.

  and the emotive picture that is painted of everyone living together as perfect men and women in the paradise.

  it's so strong !!!!

  JUST GOTTA BE STRONGER TO WITHSTAND IT -- THAT'S ALL!!!
