Noah's Bad Hair Day-A Pride Week Special
by singsongboi innoah's bad hair day.
if you have never been drunk before, the first time can be a bit scarifying.
the bible would have us believe that noah's bout with the bottle, as recorded in genesis 9;20, 21, was his first experience with over-drinking.

was just reading a synopsis of a course run by the wea** in sydney oz, called "on line - new images of jesus of nazareth", which says in part.... "his teaching was purely oral so we have to rely on the transmission of his words by others to achieve even an inkling of what he taught.

two gay men and their fathers....
by singsongboi ini am still amazed that anyone (as on a recent thread) could believe that being gay (homosexual) is the result of bad parenting -- .
co-incidentally, on another board that i post on, there were some posts about relationships with fathers.... please note, that i have edited out identifying information, and that in the country of origin english is not the first language.. .
post 1. memories!.

More Buddhists than baptists (and Jws)
by singsongboi inthe results of australia's last census were released yesterday:.
the figures indicated a continuing decline in bible based religions, especially the anglicans and the uniting church.. and most spectacular was the growth of those who said they were buddhists.
at the last census (1996) just under 200,000 identified as buddhists.. now, 360,000 say they follow buddha compared to 310,000 who claim to be baptists.. and interestingly, there were 83,993 jews, which contrasts with 95,473 hindus.. islam had 281,578 followers.. the jws- well!

Compare-the WTS & the Chinese Communists
by singsongboi ini have a long time interest in china -- and continual amazement at the similarities between the way the wts presents it's propaganda and the way theat the chinese communists do it....... last sunday, in beijing, a fire in an internet cafe killed 24 people - there was a swift response from the "leadership" -- all 2200 internet cafes in beijing were closed as a result.
just like politicians in the west, this was clearly a knee-jerk response by beijing leaders, as they tried to make sure that they could not be blamed for poor supervision of the growth of these places.. but the really interesting thing, is the way that the state owned media jumped on the bandwagon and the language they used..... .
"don't let the internet bars destroy kids" - headline in the people's daily.. .

Sensitivity to Criticism
by singsongboi inmature people are not overly sensitive to criticism -- they recognise their own limitations, and the possible wider experience or knowledge of others.. but, (and reading this board for over 4 months now) it seems to me, that the tougher approach of the gb to differing opinions since the 1980's, is indicative of a social immaturity and sensitivity to criticism.. somehow in their relationship with each other, there is a lack of confidence in what they believe.
( in any case, "truth" is established only by a vote of the gb - there is no modern day urim and thummim - so on the gb opinions can be held - even if not taught).
if you have a lot of confidence in your beliefs, if it's well researched and tested, if you are above all seeking truth -- then you are relaxed about your beliefs.. and there is no need to exclude and shun dissenters.

60 min tonite-Oz TV-see cath. church squirm!
by singsongboi init's already been mentioned -- but worth mentioning again.. if u live in oz, i think this is great tv tonite.
australia's most prominent catholic exposed as he tries to cover up the sins of one of his mates.... here's an extract from the advance publicity from the shows website.... .
that 10 years ago dr george pell attempted to bribe a distressed young man who'd been sexually assaulted by a priest and that dr pell did this to cover up a potential scandal and to protect his church.. and, as you'll see, there's more allegations of money offered to silence the family of two young girls, more tragic victims of a predator in the catholic church.
