Fangs for the memory; would you become a vampire?
by Abaddon innow, first off, there's no such thing.. but, let's imagine that we live in the same dimension as buffy (most of the guys and a few of the women start paying attention), or the anne rice novels, blade, whatever.. vampires are real.
god is distant and removed.
there is an epic, but drawn out and irresolvable struggle between good and evil.

I'd really like to be a vampire. I look a little bit like Drew, and Spike is YYYUUUMMMMMYYYY! I'd love a taste of the "big bad" LOL!

Bible Unearthed?
by badboy ini saw in a ancienct and medieval history bookclub catalogue send in a mailshot this book(i think i have got the title right)by liebenstein?/goldberg?..
from the description it said that it was a myth that archaeology had proved the bible, there is no evidence that exodus happened etc etc.

Archaeology can prove the existence of certain places and certain kings etc. Archaeology cannot prove the bible is inspired.

Being dis-fellowshipped or dis-associated
by Smitty infor those that are dis-fellowshipped or dis-associated: do you speak to jw's even though they know you're disfellowshipped or dis-associated?

Sirona
I'm not, but if I was, I would. Why give them the satisfaction of shunning? As a JW I didn't have a problem talking to DF as long as the elders didn't know.
Recently I went to a JW wedding and a DF person was there....so I talked to him in full view of everyone.

Unbelieving Partners
by Sirona init has occurred to me that living as an unbelieving partner to a jw takes its toll on you mentally.
do you start to be influenced by their way of thinking?.
do you begin to see religion in "black and white" terms, even though you claim you are not a jw?.

Joseph,
I wouldnt expect a neutral partner to oppose everything (e.g. adultery!). I think its more of an *attitude* thing. The JW closed-mindedness rubs off!

Meet up in the UK this summer ?
by Simon insummer is nearly upon us and it would be great to arrange a 'get together' (wt speak) sometime so that some of us could meet up.
i thought i'd give plenty warning so that we can arrange something and get suggestions for venue etc .... i was thinking of a nice hotel (with a pool if pos) and nearby to somewhere suitable for a family day out.. people could just go for the day or stop for a weekend as they preferred and we could do things as families during the day and then have a meal in the evening, have a few beers etc .... we're near manchester but don't mind travelling for a couple of hours or so (we have 2 small kids) - in fact, it would be nice to go somewhere like wales, the lake district, the peak district ... you get the idea (just away from the cobbled streets and slums).. if anyone has any ideas or suggestions then let us have them!.
oh, and forget you're british!!!

You make interesting points. I suppose it IS to do with the individual as much as anything.
With my stepdad I've seen a gradual swing towards the JWs. He (rightly) defends my mum for her religion, but sort of says that "no religion is right". However, the problem recently was him not tolerating another religion, whereas he does tolerate JWs.
E.g. If I joined a religion other than JW, would he have a problem with it?
I think its wierd. I know that I'm definately affected by my mother. Its the attitude. I try to keep as much balance as I can when speaking to her.
