every july, around about the time of my birthday, her ladyship and myself host the barbie to end all barbies.
fun, frolics and fizz are the order of the day, this is the social event, places are more in demand than tickets to watch england play (that's artistic licence btw), even dub in the pub turned up last year.. originally started 10 years ago to get the local pubs regulars together, i usually invite about 40 from the pub, about 15 little & big hooper's, and i am now throwing open an invitation for about 15 - 20 posters from this site to join in the fun.. the event will, weather permitting, take place on sunday july 21. meet at the waverley pub, severn road, weston - super - mare between 12noon and 3pm.

Reasons are: Its a long way to travel (too far for my driving alone), and I don't know anyone. It would be better if my BF could go with me, but he is in the T.A. and has to go there quite often at weekends. I'm buying a house too, and everything should go through in the next few weeks, saying that, I wouldn't normally let that stop me!

last night my mom promised she would meet me at home to help me move some furniture.
she made it seem like it was a tremendous deal and the only reason why she would be by would be because she had something else to do in the neighbourhood.

Hugs to you, it sounds horrible! I can sort of relate to what youre saying, but my mum isn't as bad. She does talk to me and she does help me out. The thing is there is still this underlying attitude that "you'll never be happy unless you are JW" and she deliberately assumes that I will always be unhappy as part of "the world".
Recently both my mum and stepdad have repeatedly upset me with their constant criticisms and put-downs.
I suppose all we can do is show love to them and hope that one day they'll come round.

Yes, I had a sentinel node biopsy. It was clear. I had more skin removed after they found more cancer cells in the area of the melanoma, but now the skin itself is clear. No other treatments. I did see a melanoma specialist, I've been happy with treatments.
I've been being seen quite a lot recently because one of my glands in my neck swelled for no reason. It has gone down a lot now, and its been found that I have an infected wisdom tooth which could be causing the gland swelling. I'm still seeing the skin specialist for checks....next appointment September.
Its so difficult with melanoma. Over the past couple of days my underarm has been twinging - just where the scar is from the sentinel node biopsy. There are no lumps. It still really worries me if I get any sort of pain now in my glands. I'm going to leave it and see if it continues to give me discomfort, if so I will make another appointment. Maybe its my scar tissue healing up. Plus, I've got a cold right now, and my glands might be just a bit sore because of that. The area on my arm (the tumour was on my forearm) where the scar is is really sore.
I hate living in fear of the cancer returning. I'm buying a house at the moment and they've refused me life cover and critical illness cover. So theres the added worry that if it came back I wouldn't be able to pay my bills. Nevertheless, I'm buying the house because I've got the all clear so far - I'm just having checks every 3 months, so I refuse to put my life on hold waiting for it to return (or not).

I do not accuse God of being unloving or untruthful. I stated that BY YOUR DESCRIPTION of God, he would be unloving and untruthful. I believe your description of God to be flawed. I'm sure many people would agree that a God who deliberately allows lies, hypocrisy and deceit within his organisation on earth just to test people is pretty unloving. Also it would be untruthful in the sense that the organisation claims to be Gods clean people. All those poor JWs who have realised the hypocrisy either have to live with it or stand up against it. I for one will stand up against lies and wrongs. If YOUR God condemns me for that, then he isn't a very nice God, now is he?
I find it amazing that JWs and XJWs can be so totaly blind. Although I present God's word to you that says very clearly why God temporarily allows error and falsehood, you prefer to belief the lie. That's because it is much to painful for you to come to terms with the fact that you have left the truth and are actually an apostate in Jehovah's eyes. Or as Paul described your situation: "And they may come back to their proper senses out from the snare of the Devil, seeing that they have been caught alive for the will of that one."
You present God's word with your tainted take on it. You present "The Bible according to You Know". Your reasoning is "strange" to say the least and your points are without any true basis. You then have the audacity to say we are in the snare of the devil for not believing you. LOL.

I was diagnosed with Melanoma in Feb 2002, it was 1.8mm deep. After 3 lots of surgery, I've got the all clear, and am attending for check ups. I'm hoping it doesn't return. Glad to hear you are OK.
Now, after this thread, I'm going off to find and kill my mothers Yorkshire Terrier that never so much as sniffed at my tumour....[;) ]

Bolded for emphasis. This comment points to the watchtower being in question in some peoples minds due to....lying. You go on to say that this is part of Jehovahs purpose to test those in the organisation, to cleanse it. Therefore I reiterate my previous question - God has lying in his organisation as part of his purpose? Moreover you suggest that God is using apostates in his purpose too. This God you refer to does not sound loving or truthful, since you suggest he is using deceit and lies to test people's integrity.
Now for your point regarding confidence. You are not being confident in Gods Word. You are being confident in your own interpretation of God's Word. You admit that its only a handful of people who actually view it in the same way as you:

I don't think you have to DA yourself to be left alone.
Next time one of them calls you to talk about the "truth" say (firmly) "I don't want to talk about the Jehovah's Witnesses" or "I've decided I don't want to go to meetings, so please respect my decision".
This has worked for me. I am not DF or DA. They only mention it now and then. Plus, I have the upper hand. They approach the subject by saying "er...I dont want to bother you, but have you thought about Jehovah?" and I reply, "Yes, I've thought about it and I still don't want to go to the hall".
Over time, they stop bothering you....but you have to be firm. Its no use talking about it with them and letting them think that they're "encouraging" you. They might think that they're getting somewhere and helping you to return. You need to explain that you don't want to return.
I would not DA yourself because it sounds to me like you still want contact with these people. They cannot DF you unless you do something bad or if you voice your views (apostasy). Just simply say you don't want to go to the hall anymore.

Your post was interesting. You point out many problems with JWs in general, yet still indicate that JWs (e.g. yourself) are privvy to the secrets of the prophyseys and that this is simply a refining process. That is a completely ridiculous claim. It is a cloak behind which you hide all the innacuracies and lies of the WBTS, saying that those who are faithful will stay true to Jehovah despite it all. Well, all they know of Jehovah has been spoon fed to them by the WBTS so their faith is based on this tainted organisation's interpretation of the bible.
