sorry for moaning, but i thought i'd update you all too.... firstly i saw the dental specialist today (remember, infected wisdom tooth?).

he said (after thorough examination, xray etc).

Navigator: I do believe in our thoughts affecting our reality. Uncertainty is the most difficult thing sometimes. If I knew the cancer had spread, I could concentrate on thoughts of recovery. At the moment, I just don't know yet. Thanks for your advise and positive thoughts.

Simon and Angharad, thanks! I'd like to do something around the time of my birthday, yes. Can we sort out when the next gathering is going to be? There are lots of people on this board who are in the area.

I'm becoming more stressed as Thursday nears, but I was reassured yesterday when the lady on the Cancer Marx line told me that sometimes chemo is not necessary even when there is spread to the nodes. She said that I would have the nodes removed, and would likely need immune booster injections (Interferon). It helps to know the options, anyway. I hope its clear!

i thought i'd hit it several times before...as i have been thru the divorce over the past couple of years...lost all my so-called friends...lost my belief in what i thought was the "truth"....and now my own loving daughter, being the good little dub she is has told me she doesn't want me to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.

she told me today at lunch.

i almost threw up.

Every time I read a post by YouKnow, it reminds me of why I will never be a Jehovah's Witness again. Its almost scary that such an unloving person with such a bad attitude and no reason can at the same time be so pompous and condemning. No love for fellow man there, just hatred veiled with clean words.

can someone tell me if there is a clear statement, preferably from the u.n., that shows the watchtower's dishonesty in this matter?

not long ago, i was discussing the u.n. situation with a jw friend.

he decided to call the wt legal department in this country.

I think I'm OK for 1st September (depending on my test results next week - I might be in hospital). All being well, that would be OK.

We could meet at the Manchester Trafford centre. It has some nice cafes/restaurants/bars.

I'm 27 in September....on 14th. I'm free that weekend too because my boyfriend has to go away for that weekend with the T.A. I've been wondering how I'm going to celebrate my b-day, I was hoping the gathering would be then. The 1st is fine though if thats easier for you (I know you have to travel)

You made a comment about thinking your daughter doesn't love you. I can honestly say that I think she really does! She does love you, but she's probably under pressure from other people. Her wedding day will be stressful to plan and she doesn't want to upset anyone...rather than argue she probably just went along with all the stupid Jdubs who 'advised' her to tell you this.

Who is walking her down the aisle then? Anyone?

I agree with everyone that you should communicate your feelings about this to her. She may change her mind when she realises how much it means to you. Maybe she just doesn't think you'd be so upset.

You will get through this, just like you've courageously got through other problems. The only way is up.

Praying to Jehovah.......

.......certainly never got me anywhere, did not even help my wife to survive cancer, in spite of jesus' admonition to "ask anything in my name.

" there are opinions among some students and researchers of the bible to the effect that the god and father jesus prayed to was not jehovah.

just try to find "jehovah" in the sermon on the mount, even in the nwt.

I think prayer affects the person praying from the inside. I believe in God, but not the God of the bible. I believe that we can become more in tune with God (who I believe is reflected within us) through prayer.

Some things, such as when someone is going to die, will not be changed by appealing to an external God IMO. Healing comes from within....yet sometimes the person just doesnt heal no matter what. Blame God? No. Why not blame God? Because what do you achieve by blaming an entity that you do not understand? We simply don't know the whys and wherefores of the universe.

I'm going off track here. I mean to say that prayer can be a good thing, but prayer alone will clearly not stop all badness.

I dont blame anyone for losing faith in a God who lets someone you love die. I've been in desperate times and cried out to God - with no response.

I also would like to defend littletoe's comment. He believes that prayer to Christ is effective and the original post seemed to be indicating a loss of faith in God and a question of "who do we pray to?".

Yes, believe it or not the air smelled quite sweet today. Combination of fresh breezes and rain I think. You are spoiled with your clean air - I'm probably desensitized to the smells here in NW England!

So have you kept your beard then? I'd like to see it, when is the gathering being arranged for? ISP hasnt' said.

Swollen lymph nodes could just mean your immune system is working. It may not be cancer.

You are right, and it is better to think more about that than think about the worse case scenario. Thanks

Waiting, I'd like to see that program, it sounds good. Dark humour is a good way to verbalise feelings without coming across as overly morbid and I can see how that helps. I'm going to make a concerted effort to laugh more...they say that has theraputic properties in itself, don't they?

My feelings toward the whole experience of having cancer are mainly sadness, fear and worry. I haven't really felt angry. I don't think "why me?" because my life has been very blessed overall and I tend to think that there are lessons to be learned from an experience like this. Since the operation in March, and my subsequent all clear, I've been going at 100 miles an hour! I have renewed appreciation for life itself. Just this morning, I stepped outside into the cold and rain, and noticed a nice clean smell in the air and enjoyed the sensation of the raindrops on my face. OK I suppose this paragraph reads a little bit "sickly", but it is how I feel. There was a point a couple of years ago when I wanted to die and it strikes me as ironic that dying is the last thing I now want....a big lesson I've learned is that if you wish for something, you might get it.
