funny... I recognized it as a parody just from reading suzi's post w/o even going to the web sites. Bonsai Kitty? c'mon, anyone sick enough to torture kitty's, wouldn't know sarcasm or irony if it bit them in the kitty.

Bonsai Kitty
by suzi mayhem inok.. i know i've been a bit of a buster in the past, but this is for real.
there is a site out there, and apparently a demand, for modified housepets.
in a nutshell, what these ahem... [people] do is take a kitten, sedate it, insert the poor thing into a glass bottle with air holes drilled into it, and run tubes into it to feed it, and tubes into it to take care of everything else.

Contact Equals Suicide?
by patio34 indidn't find an appropriate forum for this unique perspective:.
'our planet spends billions on searching for extraterrestrial life.
have they never thought seriously about the question: what would happen if we found it, or if it found us.

humans tend to fear what they do not understand and a derivative of fear is non recognition. - Dave, bold added
Just had to make a quick comment on this comment; Yeah, maybe so.
Still, I don't see any reason to think that the Carl Sagans, the AlanF's, the JanH's, etc. of this world, are acting and believing from a position of fear more so than the Whit Striebers (sp?), the Logicals, the Ianaos, the tallymans of this world. (just working from the opinions expressed on the "mars" thread).

RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION
by Amazing inwhen jws are angry due to some injustice their 'organization' has experienced, they allow themselves to have this anger and label it "righteous indignation".
but ... when ex-jws are angry, the society calls it 'gnashing our teeth in anguish, whinning, bemoaning some defective spiritual condition, or mad-dog apostates.'.
now, the time has come for ex-jws and really anyone not associated with the jws to have righteous indignation as the watch tower society and its leaders are going to face public examination of their dirty laundry.

Dear Apostates, just suppose....
by TheApostleAK in...that the watchtower bible & tract society really is jehovah god's earthly organisation.... wouldn't that make you all "vessels made fit for destruction" (romans 9:22 - 24) by being opposers of jehovah god and his true organisation?.
just making this warning so you can't complain to jehovah god when his "fear-inspiring day" (joel 2:11) comes that you weren't told.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
this message has been brought to you by the watchtower bible & tract society.

Just a note to those following this; I don't think AK is a witness anymore. (not sure you ever where one?)
The only real confusion anyone could pull out of my post, AK, is my questions, which you did nothing to answer in an intelligent way. So yeah, I'm still weary of BULLSH*T (your word), and confused as to how someone who can string a sentence together, can be enamored by BULLSH*T.
Is it just foolish pride? A hatred for admitting you have been wrong all your life? If so, just let go. It is painless and rewarding.
Conversely, prove you are right. That would be rewarding as well, I'm sure.
Or, continue as you are, with your post and beliefs, etc. But, that will be eternally painful, at least on a discussion board, because people will be forever calling you on this....this...stuff you call faith and so highly exalt.

hmmmm... I guess the question everyone would love to see answered, AK, is why you, or any reasonable person, would believe the bible has anything to do with the creator.
Instead of boisterously displaying your gargantuan faith, why not tell us a your good reasons for having any such faith in the first place? How does your faith differ from superstition? What evidence is there that the Bible came from God? There must be something tangible? Intangible? Is your "faith" in the bible, or in the Creator? Why is faith a postive word? Why is your "faith" not dangerous, but a JW's faith is? Why would the Creator care if someone follows the bible or not? It has some pretty harsh messages, no matter what your own mind has rationalized.
I believed it for my entire life. It looks like I was wrong. My reasons for belief were understandable, but they were not good.
SPEAK MAN!!!!! 'cuz frankly, I think I speak for every ex-jw when I say we are all weary from BULLSH*T. Theirs, yours, or anyones.

Ps. His dad is a postman, so he doesn't need a gun.
I'm thinking along the lines of the works of Josephus, with the scant info on Jesus highlighted. (anyone know how to actually find that in the works of Josephus?)
Outnfree mentioned college related materials. Sounds good.
Any more ideas, specifics?

funny, I had been reading your post on the board, and been thinking, "she seems to be the 2nd meekest person on earth, next to me of course!"
Yep, I just can't buy that God is going to whack someone simply because they don't believe in the unbelievable. Especially if logic is a gift from said God in the first place.

Just suppose for a minute, that there is this guy. A nice guy. Has a really good record of trying to do the right thing. Most all his life, he believed the Bible, and that JW's had the correct understanding of the bible.
He starts really asking himself some hard questions. He prays about it all. Often times in tears. Did I mention he was a nice guy? He is not finding satisfying answers. It's not that he doesn't want to find answers, he is not arrogant, he hasn't made up his mind against any good evidence, in fact, let's just say he is the meekest guy on the planet.
To make a long story short, after all is said and done, he sees no reason to believe the bible came from God, or was even touched by God. In fact, he isn't sure he sees any evidence for Gods existance, save for the uncanny brilliance he thinks he sees in the natural world, and a few spooky stories riz tells.
Now is this guy toast? Or what?

Red Religion and the Lawless Man
by GinnyTosken inive been sorting through my old jw books and found one published in 1951, what has religion done for mankind?.
skimming through it, a few sections caught my eye.. the societys comments about the dangers of the totalitarian red religion of communism are hilarious, since they easily apply to the society itself.
substitute russell, rutherford, knorr, and franz for marx, engels, lenin, and stalin, and brooklyn for moscow, and voila!.
