I think you might be missing the fact that they were WRONG about what they said her son had.
How could you possibly know that, tec?
may you all have peace!.
hubby and i happened to catch an episode of "nova" last night.
fascinating stuff.

i'm an atheist, and i'd like to take some time to talk about why i hold a great deal of respect for the jehovah's witnesses, and some words of encouragement that may put an end to the ridicule and disrespect you seem to get from, well, all sorts of people.. .
i never gave this kind of criticism a second thought: i knew nothing about you, and i figured you were just another fringe group of christianity.
i now feel terrible about this, and i wish to apologize for my (admittedly never spoken) disrespect.

i am sick and tired of people putting down posters like the andersons!
they work hard to expose some things we might never have known about.
why some find fault with them, or ray franz before them, or maximus when he was here is beyond me.. be thankful for those that decide to come here and share what they know about this organization.. we get elders who are still in their positions and they share with us a lot of interesting news and perspectives.
"I have never read Steve2 claim that Barbara's gender was at all relevant to any criticisms he made in any of his posts, a rather sharp contrast with Barbara attempt to undermine Steve2 who is a gay man by calling him a "drama queen".
I have found Steve2's posts moderate and well reasoned. "
"Drama queen" is a well known phrase in the USA referring to anyone who creates unecessary drama - it in no way references gayness, and no one who knows the phrase thinks it does.
Yours was not a well reasoned post.
i'm a loner.. offline, i have few friends.
the friends i do have are dear to me but i'm bad at communicating with them, meaning i don't call often.
facebook has been a boom with me cuz i can keep contact with folks i really care about without being constantly in contact with them which would drive me crazy.. on this board i haven't got too deep with folks.
Can't wait for part II!
I'll be in Vegas next week. ::howl::
Well congrats, man!
wasn't the answer to this question wrapped up in a neat little package when you were young?
it was easily explainable and it made you feel so warm inside that you knew that god felt passionately bad about the suffering and that it was going to stop.. there is so much pain in this world.
people are starving, people are being torchered by others who have lost their minds, there is endless suffering on this planet.
I agree with what you just said completely, Tammy.
But I wonder, and have always wondered, even as a child:
Of course, it does depend on the educators, and what is being taught, doesn't it?
Why isn't God an educator?
i can't see myself not attending.
i would feel horrible not to go.
i don't know where i'm going to land and if i had to look back and think i didn't go... well, i would feel awful..
"The memorial"?
Let's see, been five or six years for me, but that's the occasion where JW's and hangers-on all get together on the same night just after sundown and pay rapt attention to Jesus words: " “Take and eat; this is my body” and “Drink from it, all of you" and everyone in the audience except maybe a couple of people with emotional problems formally respond to Jesus with "no, Jesus, I will not take and eat" and "no I will not drink - next person", right?
if god has instructions for sincere people why can't he just tell us what they are in plain language?.
he could do that and some people would fall in line and others wouldn't.. if i was god, that's what i would do.. as a parent, that's what i do with my kids.. i am so tired of all the guesswork..
you sound like a dirty hippy with all this "love" stuff ;)
(the hippies were right about most everything. especially about facial hair )

" We are capable of compassion. We are capable of feeding the hungry and housing the poor. We are even capable of peace. But our personal desires, greed, apathy, selfishness... these things get in the way of our achieving these things. Not because we're not capable, but because we choose to live at times in a manner that shows little or no regard for others. The effect of each act of selfishness spirals, and that is what we teach and leave to our children. There is good too, and that also spirals... but the fact that there is good only proves to me that we ARE capable of such things. "
Do you think that education can help Tammy?
as we read everyday in every paper and website, and hear in every tv programme, we are in a recession.
now, i understand that house prices have dived, stock prices have fallen, production has gone down, various financial crisis have occured, and currencies have devalued slightly due to inflation etc, but, here is a question i'd like to ask all you members:.
if there is the same amount of money* in the world now as there was before everything suddenly went to the wall, who the hell has got it?.
It's a good, simple question:
Here is the money you are looking for, even though it didn't just accumulate to this astounding point in this last financial debacle; but as you might imagine, the very wealthy are able to easily take advantage of financial crisis and accumulate more wealth even as everyone else suffers:
But wait, that is only an in-the-stadium eye view of this chart. You have to pull back a few miles to really see it:
