Best "wake-up-call"-arguments?!

it was not my intention to write here anymore, but i found things that caught my interest, things that i feel to share in the hope of someone finds it interesting.. the core is that the wt surprisingly admits that what "we" believe in, is after all, only opinions (awake 2000 june 22 page9-11 "do not be a victim of propaganda).. anyone with a scan of thiese pages would make my day ;-) the questions/arguments below are built around this:.

the unstated premise that problems with the truth will go away if only you refuse to identify them.
thinking is an active process.. evasion is avoiding that action of active thinking which would create a positive difference.

Great post. I woke up 2 years ago...my wife is still in. When I presented her with a few bible truth's/facts she more or less stuck her fingers in her ears and told me that whatever information I had found that woke me up she doesn't want to know as she is happy knowing what she knows...
Even if is wrong I ask...yes was the answer.
Nothing you can do about that...an act of evasion indeed.

it doesn't really matter, because the consideration of the bible reading material is one of the shortest parts on the meeting with a limited number of comments, and those comments are restricted to less than 30 seconds or you will get counselled.
over and over, the dubs are told to read the bible, yet the organization gives no real encouragement to read the bible by keeping everyone busy in the recruiting work and using relatively few scriptures in their "talks".. why?

CO overruling elders on appointments
by toto555 inif a brother wants to reach out to be elder, yet brothers are holding him back for dubious reasons, can/should a brother approach the co and ask him what he needs to be done to be appointed or perhaps having a discussion along the lines of why the elders are holding him unfairly back.
anybody have any experiences along these lines?
is this a good strategy?

I was appointed an elder at the CO requests where the BOE continually did not put me forward. The CO asked them why I wasn't and got silence...
What annoyed me the most was elders already on the body who resigned and then wanted to come back on but the body wuld have a list of issues with them...I mentioned in an elders meeting why are these issues not being mentioned to the brother whilst they were elders? It seems when they were elders you can do what you want but as soon as you came off and wanted to go back on you had to sort these issues out...

We all accept, including JDubs, that these men are just men who may think and say wrong things like the rest of us as they go about their own lives. I am in no doubt if the GB are out for a walk and a very sexy lady walks by that they do a double take!
But when they come together, under the premise that when they form this 8 man group that they are being directed by Holy Spirit from Jehoover then they can NEVER EVER be wrong.
They claim that nothing is from their own originality, just like Jesus said thus everything they say comes from Jehoover and in that way, even if the vessels who carry God's directed messages are imperfect the author of the message is not imperfect and will never be wrong.
So it is one of two choices...
Either God IS directing the 8 men in the GB as the FDS and God, through his Holy Spirit gets things wrong and has to correct himself OR.....
The 8 men in the GB are allowed to put forth their own ideas as the FDS and Holy Spirit will update/change/correct as required by God...
Which one is it? The answer? It doesn't matter...
If it is the first option then God teaches us wrong things and I don't want anything to do with a diety that does that...
If it is the second one then I can't trust my life to 8 men who get things wrong and continually need correcting...thus I cannot be part of this religion.
So, in summary, it doesn't matter that these men are imperfect...the fact is they claim to be God's sole channel of communication today and that they are directed by Holy Spirit thus whilst they are individually imperfect men AS A GROUP they should never ever be wrong...and they have been ergo they are self-appointed.
You can't really beat that logic...mostly taken from Don Cameron's book Captives to a Concept!!!

Some people on this htread simply do not understand what an athiest is.
I am an athiest. I do not choose to not beileve in a god...it's simply the fact that I don't beileve he exists in the first place for me to make a decision to believe in him...
It's like saying OFF is a TV Channel...or NOT going skiing is my hobby...it doesn't make any sense to say an athiest is angry at god or cannot see him.

Earthly Organization Reset - What Would You Do?
by committeechairman ini've been reading and posting comments on this site for a while now (about a year) and the comments i see indicate that many who are here have good ideas about what would be required if either (1) jehovah's witnesses were completely reset and the whole framework of belief and organization were started over or (2) if a completely new organization were built.
this assumes, of course, that you believe god exists and that he is interested in human affairs (i know some of you don't).
it also assumes that you do not believe that the "heritage" of jehovah's witnesses has such great weight and importance that it precludes putting all beliefs and procedures on the table to examine them and change them if necessary.. given all this, what do you believe should be the beliefs and organization of true worship today?

How I see it...
1) Discover proof of a god/diety....
2) Find out what He/She wants....
Until the first step is done there is no point in going onto step 2 or any further step...
I'm still waiting for the first step...
