Reasons for leak and building stop story
by Gorbatchov ini have some feeling about the am2015 leak and the recent building stop story going arround.. it wouldn't surprise me that the information is a calculated leak.. - jw's are informal informed about the changes and adopt them informal.. - the building stop influences the concience of jw's for donating more money.. at the other hand, maybe there has occured a financial disaster for example they invested bilions in volkswagen.. gorby.

They are only leaked to exjw's though....I've asked still-ins and they have no idea. -

After Death Communications in the JW community
by jack2312 inmy name is jack and i'm looking for after death communications from the jehovah witness community.
an after death communication (or adc) is when a loved one sends a kind of message to this side of life after their death.
it can be a dream or smell (like perfume or roses that would be attached to them in memory) or a feeling of their presence.

Not wanting to offend anyone but the mind is a powerful device...losing a loved one is the hardest thing ever...we all have had that loss...and most of us wish that they were still around...in whatever form.
But the fact remains that in 2015 there has not been to date any conclusive proof via picture or video of anything supernatural....ever...period.
Given that there are more mobile devices on this planet than can capture pictures and video in HD than there are actual people then that stat tends to suggest there is no life after death and there is no supernatural thing...
There are still unexplained situations and coincidences that we haven't yet got the facts to be able to explain but that is not proof of anything supernatural.
Therefore I tend to lean to the fact it is in people's minds...as I say the mind is powerful and our mental faculties are strong.
But life after death? There is no actual evidence or facts to support it which given there have been billions of humans that have died that in itself weighs towards the conclusion I come to.
I of course respect others who disagree.

What is the most bizarre counsel you received as a JW, from a JW?
by Funchback inthere were many addressed to me.
for example, i once had a sister tell me i was gambling because i liked playing skill crane (the machine where you have to try to pick up prizes like stuffed animals) at the arcade.
i then fired back a her: "you saw the r-rated movie 'backdraft.

What will 1914 (DROPPED) mean for you (EX-JW)
by John Aquila inlet's pretend this might happen.
im not asking what it will mean for the jdubs or for the organization, but what will it mean for you---- if one day you wake up and the watchtower drops the 1914 doctrine.. (you know at some point they have to, but probably not our lifetime).
if you are disfellowshipped or disassociated and have been shunned by your parents, by your children, by you spouse or ex-husband/wife, for years or even less, will you call your relatives and ask/tell them;.

What will it mean? Everything to me...because I told my still-in family it will happen and if it does it will surely have a hand in waking them up. -

Just had a former elder friend tell me, “This Overlapping generation is crap.
by John Aquila inlast night i ran into a former elder friend, he is in his late 70s.
he asked how i was doing and i asked how he was doing.
then out of the blue he tells me; .

All those who are in their 60's or 70's had the hope that they would never die what with the generation used to being literal.
The overlapping generation has removed that from them, they now see they may die and therein some old timers are beginning to question but as the OP's experience shows they do not believe it but have nowhere else to turn to because they still believe everything else.
What a nightmare.

Today I got a review that left me scratching my head - what do you make of it?
by Brock Talon inas a published author on amazon, i'm used to getting negative reviews from time to time.
it goes with the territory and i'm ok with it.
writing is an art form, so no art is liked by everyone.

The thing is, her post has nothing to do with the book, it is not a review of the book and therefore doesn't deserve to be posted there.
If anything Beth should post on here!

If they go bankrupt, so what?
by maksutov init seems likely that the watchtower is worried about its finances, given the downsizing, property schemes, and money-grabs we have been seeing over the last few years.
perhaps they suffered badly from the financial crisis.
for sure, there will be more expenses to come from child abuse payouts.

OK, so on this thread at least, most people seem to agree that they won't go bankrupt any time soon. But that wasn't what I was asking really! The question is a hypothetical one - what if they did? What would happen next? I'm not normally one for speculating about things that are not likely to happen, but I find this particular question intriguing because for some groups/organisations/companies, bankruptcy is game over - but not, I think, for a religious cult as large as this one.
They would simply spin it as Satan attacking them via persecution but the point we are all making is the question is indeed hypothetical but pointless as they will never go bankrupt.
The bigger questions they need to answer is how to justify to dubs they are the FDS and that we are in the last days when we are getting further and further away from 1914 with each year...at some point they will need to remove 1914 from the picture and how do they do that without a massive wakeup call to the dubs.

Is this a subtle clue that the leaders really see the "great tribulation" of the WT coming soon?
by never a jw insimilarly, we cannotexpect that the future interruption inthe great tribulation will result in aninflux of new believers.
rather, it willbe an opportunity for all true believersto prove their love for jehovah andgive their support to christs brothers.. (par.
7, page 16, wt july 2015).

Didn't they recently say that whilst the GT is ongoing there will not be an influx of people coming in but there will still be the opportunity?
I say this because I remember reading it about it on here and telling my still-in wife that is me sorted, if the GT starts I'll simply repent during the GT and that's my ticket in....

I don't think they are in financial trouble....as I say and as we all know they sold over a billion dollars worth of property in the last ten years...both new complexes in US and UK will cost a fraction of that and will no doubt be very green and conservative buildings.
Every company, rich or poor is consolidating...with the recession over the last few years and things slowly picking up most companies are realizing that they had it good and now need to plan better for whatever the future holds.
I work for a publishing firm and the ongoing rise in costs in paper and other raw materials for publishing is really hitting our company...this will hit the WT too hence why they seem keen to go more digital....if they ever stop printing then there and then they cut enormous costs and surely they are sustainable for a long time yet.
Money is not an issue to the WT, the only issue they will have in the future is to convince people they are chosen by God given their insistence we have been in the last days since 1914....their teachings will be their downfall coupled with the internet and easily accessible information but their downfall will not come in any of our life times.

They are simply doing what every company is doing in the world...cutting cost and expenditure...they are consolidating in an attempt to secure their future....they will be around for a long time yet, well after I'm gone!
Of course, unless the Big A comes in my generation...or my overlapping....wait what?
