Surely they mean the 24 elders are communicating to the FDS sorry I mean the GB via Holy Spirit...how else would they communicate?

How to prove God does not exist?

The reason why we don't believe in ghosts, vampires, wearwolves, mummys, ghouls, zombies etc is due to one fact.

That in this day of age with billions of mobile devices that can capture pictures and video there is not one real video, or real picture that proves they exist.

Same logic to God...thousands of years of human history recorded...not one line of proof that there is a God...

@Pistoff...it means that they are some who are anointed today who are alive that did not overlap with anyone who was alive and anointed during 1914...for instance let us say an anointed person who is 50, born in 1963 and was anointed at 40 so in 2003 they had their "calling".

In 2003 there are none of the anointed alive who were anointed in 1914 thus this person is NOT part of the second group that overlaps the first.

The problem with sir82's point is Franz was 99 when he died and that was in 92 but that is one situation...surely they could not based an overlapping generation theory on one individual?

So if you say Generation 1 were around 18 when they became anointed, then Generation 2 would be around 18 when Generation 1 people were dying. So on average, Generation 2 people must have been born by 1948. That means that your average Generation 2 person is now about 65. And since we're using this average lifespan of 70 years, that puts the limit of when the end will come to sometime in the next 5 years.

The anomaly is that there were people like Freddie Franz. He lived to be 99. So when the end doesn’t come in the next 5 years, which of course it won't, the dubs will still be able to rationalize that Freddie died in 1992,and so Generation 2 must include some people who were 18 and anointed when He died, which pushes the outer limit of Generation 2's lifespan way back to 2044 (using the 70 year lifespan of people born in 1974.)

And... since none of the current GB will be still around at THAT outer limit, then they don't really need to care how to extend it any further.

But for right now, using the average lifespan of 70 and the average age of anointment as 18,that means the Overlapping Generation understanding gives the dubs roughly 5 years before they have to start reconsidering the whole thing.

The point is in the Jan edition they state, on record, that the second group of anointed who overlap the first group were not only born but were anointed when members of the first group were on the earth...

So it's NOT an overlapping generation on birth but on being anointed making the overall two generations overlapping smaller and since the WT states the second group are already "in advanced years" it means then that to a beliving dub that the Big A is practically in the next year or two...

This WT will not stand the test of time, even for a few years because they would have it change it....again.

And I agree...Mark Sanderson cannot be in this group.

John Barr was born in 1913 and even if he was anointed at 18 that would have been in 1931...so Mark Sanderson mixing with him doesn't count as the two groups overlapping...John Barr was not anointed in or around 1914...

It needs to be those who were anointed who understood the birth of the kingdom and actually witnessed 1914 overlap with those who were anointed whilst these first group were on the earth.

So John Barr would have in fact being part of the second group if he witnessed the Great Tribulation.

Surely that doesn't leave that many on the earth and if they are they must ber very old.

This explanation of the "generation" is getting wilder and wilder...

They're outright saying that the old ass anointed people aren't going to die before the tribulation. And they even say, "these are advancing in years"... Have they decided yet again when this is going to happen? How much longer until they give a vague date? Here is the quote:

15 In his detailed prophecy about the conclusion of this system of things, Jesus said: “ This generation will by no means pass away until all these things happen. ” (Read Matthew 24:33-35.) We understand that in mentioning “this generation,” Jesus was referring to two groups of anointed Christians. The ﬁrst group was on hand in 1914, and they readily discerned the sign of Christ’s presence in that year. Those who made up this group were not merely alive in 1914, but they were spirit-anointed as sons of God in or before that year. —Rom. 8:14-17. 16

The second group included in “this generation” are anointed contemporaries of the ﬁrst group. They were not simply alive during the lifetime of those in the ﬁrst group, but they were anointed with holy spirit during the time that those of the ﬁrst group were still on earth. (implying that this second group are made up of pretty old people)

Thus, not every anointed person today is included in “this generation” of whom Jesus spoke.Today, those in this second group are themselves advancing in years. Yet, Jesus’ words at Matthew 24:34 give us conﬁdence that at least some of “this generation will by no means pass away” before seeing the start of the great tribulation.

This should add to our conviction that little time remains before the King of God’s Kingdom acts to destroy the wicked and usher in a righteous new world.—2 Pet. 3:13.

Wow people. Is this some new understanding or something? Have they just decided to put a time when the end will come?

This thread doesn't count anymore in a JW's mind...Charlie boy, Mr Russell if you will...was NOT a member of the FDS class as he died in 1916 and as JW's know the appointment of the FDS was in 1919 thus whatever was said prior to that appointment cannot be 100% relied upon.

And therein lies why the GB changed the teaching on the FDS!!!!

Watchtower Eliminated the "Evil Slave Class" according to E-Watchman? True or False?

looking for information to make the july 15th, 2013 watchtower make sense, i came across the e-watchman website.

is he a jehovah's witnesses waiting for the reformation or a apostate like all of us on jwn?.

his post on the "faithful and evil slave" is very enlightening, according to his question he received from his readers, the watchtower said "there is no evil slave class" to eliminate fear the evil slave is working at bethel!.

The GB simply say the evil slave class doesn't exist due to the word "if"...its a hypothetical slave class....

Interesting arguement considering it says "If the master arrives"...

What happened in 97-98 to reduce the increase?
