  Literature being discontinued, including Isaiah's Prophecy and Reasoning book

  congregations get an annual letter that tells what can be ordered for literature (it's mainly a list of audio cds/dvds for the deaf), but this time it included publications that will be discontinued, and this included the isaiah's prophecy book and the reasoning book, and i think i saw the draw close to jehovah book.

  i meant to take a picture of the letter but forgot.

  the branch is only going to give what they have on stock, when that stock depletes that's it, you won't be able to order those publications anymore.. this is in canada so i don't know if this is worldwide..

  i can't remember hearing a single dub try to defend this idiocy.

  You should maybe point out to this uber-sister that when Freedy boy died in 1992 ALL the current members of the GB were assistants AND the WT said that ALL assistants were then other sheep...so the time line given by Splane doesn't add up as not ONE of the current GB was anointed in 1992 and therefore CANNOT overlap with the first generation.

  So ... Russia and Nato at war? Should we be worried?

  it seems unbelievable but turkey (a nato member state) shooting down a russian jet fighter on their syrian border seems to be "meh" news and no one is too bothered about it too much.. the world seems a bit upside down right now.

  i don't think a lot of countries really know who the hell they are fighting and who is and isn't on their side in it all and really what is going on.. smaller incidents than this have led to major conflicts in the past but hopefully calm heads will prevail.

  china shot down a us spy plane years ago and the world survived and forgot about it so things will move on i'm sure.. i'm guessing the price turkey pays for their gas supply from russia will be going up soon though.. man, that republican primary is sucking all the news attention from the room.

  The issue is we still don't know the facts as the two stories from Russia & Turkey are miles apart at the moment...was they in Turkey's airspace or not? Did 10 warnings over 5 minutes occur? Etc etc...

  You can't trust any media outlet so everything else is mere speculation....NATO have come out in support of Turkey though.

  Possible reason for cancellation of book study in homes.

  this was posted on fb.. so guys, i'm gonna share something with you all that i think you should know.

  i've only told two people about this (one being john cedars) for fear of getting this guy into trouble, but it's very telling and will reaffirm your "ttatt faith!

  a couple of weeks ago, i had to have an "ability to protect" assessment by a gentleman from a company that also investigates child protection policies etc.

  Gas (petrol) prices? Don't remember that being the main reason.

  Main reason was that simply people are busier...especially with work to provide for the family and for most of the developing lands, where the growth is and where the vast majority of JW's are, it meant they were busting their guts working AND going to two midweek meetings so they canned the book study.

  That's what I remember as the main reason as to why the bookstudy got stopped.

  Back in 2007, a series of huge, mysterious geoglyphs were discovered in the grasslands, or steppes, of Kazakhstan. Formed by human-made mounds, divots, and trenches, the structures create giant images that can be seen from the sky, including shapes that look like crop circles, squares, and swastikas. Archaeologists estimate they were created around 8,000 years ago, but have no idea who built them, or why.

  Now NASA has taken the first photos of the Steppe Geoglyphs from space, and has admitted that its scientists are no closer to solving the mystery. But they're going to keep investigating, because the answer could reshape our understanding of early humanity.

  The glyphs were first discovered by amateur archaeologist Dmitriy Dey back in 2007 using Google Earth, and about 260 of them have been found since. But what makes them interesting enough for NASA to get involved is the fact that they were made so long ago - the Nazca Lines in Peru, by comparison, were only built around 1,500 years ago.

  And as far as we're aware, the only humans living in this region of Kazakhstan back then were nomadic Stone Age tribes, whom researchers don't think were sophisticated enough to build anything like this.

  "The idea that foragers could amass the numbers of people necessary to undertake large-scale projects – like creating the Kazakhstan geoglyphs – has caused archaeologists to deeply rethink the nature and timing of sophisticated large-scale human organisation as one that predates settled and civilised societies," Persis B. Clarkson, an archaeologist at the University of Winnipeg, told Ralph Blumenthal from The New York Times.

  So far, we don't have a lot to go on. Serious investigation into the shapes has only really just started, with the glyphs formally being described at an archaeology conference last year for the first time - before that there were some concerns the whole thing was a hoax due to how remarkable the structures are. And it's only the last two weeks that NASA has gotten involved.

  They're now using satellites from one of their contractors, DigitalGlobe, to take images of some of the most iconic structures from space, and they've also instructed the astronauts on board the International Space Station to start taking photos of the region.

  "I’ve never seen anything like this; I found it remarkable," said Compton J. Tucker, a NASA scientist who provided the images. He added that NASA was "proceeding to map the entire region".

  Another thing that makes the glyphs so fascinating is their sheer size - they're so large that they're unable to be seen properly from the ground, but it's hard to imagine a civilisation 8,000 years ago contemplating the surface of the Earth from the air.

  One of the largest structures is the Ushtogay Square, which is almost 250,000 metres in area, with each of its sides as long as an aircraft carrier.

  Another structure, called the Bestamskoe Ring, is a circle made up of dozens of smaller circles. There's also the Turgai Swastika, which looks kind of like a three-armed swastika (and yes, as we all learned from The Da Vinci Code, the swastika was popular way before the Nazis started using it).

  Right now there's no clear indication whether these structures were created for art, communication, or perhaps some sort of ritual. So far the two structures that have been dug into show no sign of any buried remains.

  But hopefully with NASA and its impressive satellite technology coming on board, and other archaeologists getting involved, we might have some more clues to go on soon.

  When did the Watchtower start opposing evolution with respect to animals?

  the photo-drama of creation (1912) says that god directed the evolution of animals into their current "fixed" forms, but that humans were created directed.

  the divine plan of the ages said the same thing.

  (various editions late 1800s to early 1900s) the 1898 booklet on evolution opposes the evolution of man but doesn't discuss animal evolution.

  You have to remember that the term "evolution" generally used by dubs and by the WT actually means the start of life rather than the gradually changing of species according to their environment.

  The WT say they don't believe in "evolution" but refer to it many times when species adapt and change what they are, like the peppered moth.

  And we all know about the super evolution required after the flood if you believe that.

  Granted, they never say it occurs cross species where it actually does but most of the time when dubs or WT talk about evolution they actually mean Abiogenesis.

  according to one source on a western european 'apostate' website, the org's plan is to abandon the name "jehovah's witnesses" in the future, and replace it with "worshippers of jehovah.".
