and they asked me to give the last talk of the school impromtooo, ... and i was looking up information.
i used to do those, ... and it woke me up.. and i have'nt been to a regular meeting in four years.
I haven't been to a meeting in over two years. Ironically, I have had dreams (recently) that I was giving talks for the TMS.
Also, I sometimes dream that I am sitting in the Hall during the Public Talk. This dream always has me sitting in the meeting, plotting to get out. Each time I am bored out of my skull!
i mean a specific location that you would go to time and again to just sit and look and enjoy?
or a favorite vacation destination?.
i love the cascade mountains as example.
Fortaleza, Brazil.
so, there i was quietly dropping off to sleep while listening to the news at 10 on the bbc last night.
suddenly, michael jackson had been found not guilty of everything, and fair enough, i'm no judge or jury so it's not up to me to say yay or nay.. then my eldest son rushes into the bedroom on the phone to his jw full time pioneer girl friend.. her father had just told her that michael jackson had given credit to jehovah, that if he should be found not guilty of these charges his great god jehovah is the one that saved him and the girls elder father was saying what a wonderful witness this is, letting everyone in the world hear jehovah's name.. the best i could mumble at the time was 'go away you bunch of freaks!'.
however, the ludicrousness of this has finally dawned on me this morning!.
There have been some hints that MJ is dabbling with the JWs again.
Jacko's Weekend Holiday |

Jacko Takes a Break
As I reported over the weekend, Michael Jackson decamped from Neverland for a few days while he awaited the jury's decision.
Jackson and his inner circle checked into the posh Santa Ynez Inn on Friday.
Jackson is also said to have made an appearance on Sunday with his mother, Katherine Jackson, at her local church.
This would indicate that, at least for the moment, the singer is re-embracing the values of the Jehovah's Witnesses, even though he's publicly separated himself from the denomination in the past.
i hope this thread receives a lot of responses.
not because i am egotistical.
heck, really, i like any sort of film.
By the way, thank you all so much for the wonderful suggestions.
One of you mentioned 'Netflix'.

If so, I'm opening an account TODAY.

Hey, lawrence.
'Seven Samurai' is the film from 1954, about the hired Samurai? http://imdb.com/title/tt0047478/
so, i will be down and out for awhile after a little surgery this week and i am trying to get a few books to keep myself amused and i am looking for suggestions on something you may have read recently and enjoyed.
i prefer non-fiction, but will consider reading anything highly recommended, as long as it contains at least a spark of truth.
well, i will recommend a book to you alla few days ago, i finished reading into the wild by jon krakauera biographical story about a young man who, after graduating college, got rid of all of his belongings and hitch-hiked across the country in search of jack london-esque adventures.
Letter's From a Nut by Ted L. Nancy (a/k/a Jerry Seinfeld).
Is it juvenille? Yes. Is it hysterically funny? Absolutely. Letter's sent to hotels, corporations, businesses (large and small). Here's a link to review what others have said about this book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/product-description/0380973545/ref=dp_proddesc_0/104-9591624-1659109?%5Fencoding=UTF8&n=507846

I hope this thread receives a lot of responses. Not because I am egotistical. Rather, because I love foreign films.
Heck, really, I like any sort of film.
But, I'll get it started:
City of God (Brazilian) - Cidade de Deus (2002).
Cidade de Deus (City of God) is a housing project built in the 1960's that--in the early 80's--became one of the most dangerous places in Rio de Janeiro. The tale tells the stories of many characters whose lives sometimes intersect. However, all is seen through the eyes of a singular narrator: "Rocket", a poor black youth too frail and scared to become an outlaw but also to smart to be content with underpaid, menial jobs. He grows up in a very violent environment. The odds are all against him. But "Rocket" soon discovers that he can see reality differently than others. His redemption is that he's been given an artist's point of view as a keen-eyed photographer. As "Rocket" is not the real protagonist of the film--only the narrator--he is not the one who makes the decisions that will determine the sequence of events. Nevertheless, not only his life is attached to what happens in the story, but it is also through "Rocket's" perspective of life that one can understand the complicated layers and humanity of a world, apparently condemned to endless violence.
Based on a true story, this movie is graphicly violent and filled with profanity, along with brief nudity.
After the movie ends, continue to watch the credits. You will see real photos of the people whom the characters were based on, and, you will even see an interview of the real "Knockout Ned".

Thanks for this. Sorry that I missed this before, and I'm sorry that I posted a new thread about the update to this. If I had known, I would have simply posted it here (which is what I'll do now).

I pretty much feel the same as you. Like you said, they are adults.
What do JWs do when they find themselves in "reality...or..."real life"? What if they are riding a bus, or subway, or they are at a sporting event, and people are engaged in "candid" conversation? Are they going to cup their own ears with their own hands so that they don't have to hear the language?
