A most interesting Christmas present
by JeffT inso our daughter gave my wife and i a very nice family album of photos from the course of the year.
as we opened it, she said it had a surprise hidden in it, so we're watching for something to fall out.
about 2/3 or the way through it we hit an ultrasound print of a tiny baby.

Vigil held for Burney man who died after being set on fire
by no password invigil help for burney man who died after being set on fire.
community members shared their memories of wicks, a member of the jehovah's witness hall in burney.
many of them remember him from his post at the shell station, where he worked along with his wife.

Food for thought...
If the guy we're John Q. Apostate and this was a pro-JW message board, would the responses be "sad", "horrific" or "RIP"? I AM actually commending you all for having normal human reaction.
Still, if it were any of us set on fire, the typical JW responses would be "See what happens when you leave Jehovah"? or "It's too late for her. She has no resurrection hope".

Who of us has ever thought, 'What's the point? I'm going to die anyway'
by Funchback inwhen i truly believed the jws had the truth, i usually reverted back to 'what's the point?
i'm going to die anyway' as a way to justify for doing so-called bad things or not doing so-called good things in jw land.. i shouldn't be watching this r-rated movie.
(why stop?

LoveUniHateExams
I once bought an R-rated movie (a horror film). I watched it a few times over the weekend, then threw it away several days later.
Wow! I can totally relate.

- I shouldn't be watching this R-rated movie. (Why stop? I'm going to die at Armageddon anyway).
- I don't feel like attending the meeting today. (Why bother going? You're gonna be bird food come Armageddon time).
- Normal sexual urges? (You might as well pleasure yourself or bang someone because Jah-Jah is going to destroy you).
- Oh, no. Why did I write on my report that I did 20 hours of field service when only I did 4? (Oh, well. It doesn't matter because Almighty Jehovah will utterly destroy me).
Did you all think like this too? As pale.emperor nicely demonstrated in another thread, the guilt one feels for actions, and inactions, are inconceivable...unless you have lived through it.
It's no wonder I never advanced beyond sound guy and mic holder: my guilt ultimately held be back.
But...My guilt is also what led me to explore the truth about The Truth (You might as well do some research. You're going to die anyway).

Will Governing Body stop preaching work?
by neat blue dog inat this year's annual meeting (2016), david "mark" sanderson asks the audience the question, "are you determined to keep on preaching with us until we say the work is completed?
" to which they respond with applause.
do you think that stopping the preaching work will ever be a part of the gb's long range plan?

Also, thank you, Simon, for this board. I have been on it for 14 years.

Slidin Fast-
My very first meeting was in 1977. I was 7. I was dragged to the meeting by my sister. It was Written Review. The dummies gave me the sheet. I had never studied the bible and had never been to a church. My first introduction to religion was a paper test about stuff I had never even heard of. I think I got a zero...LOL! I felt like a failure. smh
Damn cult!
