Come to think of it, I would rather have been the recipient of a hundred pepper sprayings in exchange for never having been damaged by the WTBTS cult.
--------
The JWs came banging on my door about once a year. Because I'm disabled, I nearly always at home when they call -- only once in the past decade or so have I come home to a WTBTS tract in my doorway. Each time they come, I engage them in discussion and quickly let them know that I'm well aware of plenty of WTBTS dirt from Jellyfish Russell to the UN scandal along with all the failed prophecies. I have a century old _Studies in the Scriptures_ complete with the fold out pyramid chronology chart along with PDFs of other embarrassing WTBTS publications, all available for edification of the JW door knocker. Now, I just might be having some effect as I've never seen the same JW twice and possibly by the grace of God some of them might have come to the truth about "the Truth".
BUT, they still keep coming. So around here, they either don't have a do-not-call list, or they don't know how to add to it, or they just don't give a damn.

Anyone with type 2 Diabetes?
by LyinEyes ini have been to two doctors appointments in the last 7 months and it is confirmed that i have type 2 diabetes.
i was so scared when i found out, i have had many of my family die early from that illness.
since leaving the jw's , i can say that now i finally don't have the death wish that i secretly carried with me for so many years.

I've been a member of the Type II club for about six years. My blood glucose was off the scale when I was diagnosed and I've had to rely on multiple daily insulin injections since then as oral medications are insufficient in cases like my own. Many people in my family have had diabetes and complications from the disease have injured and in some cases killed.
On a note of optimism, the treatments available today are better and certainly safer than were those of even a few years ago. The deadly Rizulin is off the market and the dubious Avandia may not be far behind. If you are at the stage where oral prescriptions are sufficient, then that's very good comparably speaking. My advice is to closely follow your physician's orders and to especially keep track of your multiple daily b/g readings.
With some people, the oral medications like metformin and glyburide lose effectiveness over time. This has happened to some in my family and so they were switched to insulin therapy as a result. I know of some people, although not in my family, that have successfully moved in the other direction. It's difficult to predict the course of the disease which makes it doubly important to track both short term and long term (H1Ac) b/g readings.
Sad to say, there are some physicians that aren't good performers when it comes to diabetes management. This was true in my father's case and I had to get him a new doctor whose treatment plan has resulted in a big improvement (although it's also more expensive). If your b/g readings can't be stabilized at good levels and you're faithfully following doctor's orders, then got a new doctor. A decent physician like I've had for the past twenty years will help you over the long term and also properly bitch at you should you fall off the program. -

If it's true that you are not interested in what Haszard has posted on the net over many years, then you have missed an essential aspect of the situation and, quite honestly, this seriously detracts from any argument you might make or any position you might take.
Is Haszard delusional? Would even a psychologist or psychiatrist make a long distance diagnosis? If so, could it be trusted?
When or where have I been an apologist or advocate for Haszard's actions? I have only been suggesting looking at aspects of the whole situation that have been deemphasized or outright ignored.
I see nowhere in any my postings that I have been a "representative/supporter/advocate/friend" of Haszard. Siamsa, you have failed in reading comprehension or at least with poster identification, and so I will no longer respond to your messages.
-------
For the record, I believe that unnecessary violence is wrong, as is any unjustified use of force or threatening. I did not see the video. I do not have enough information to judge whether or not Haszard's response was wholly in the unnecessary or unjustified region of behavior. I do know for certain that the WTBTS has long engaged in widespread psychological damage to millions along with sometimes deadly damage due to insane medical proscriptions and being a contributory accessory to suicide. The scales of justice has two plates; even if Haszard is totally in the wrong, which of the two plates in this case is weighted down with the most transgressions? -

A funny response from cartalk.com
by Skimmer inon national public radio, there's a weekly hour-long program called "car talk with click and clack the tappet brothers".
it's been around for twenty years and is one of the most popular programs on npr.
it's website is http://cartalk.com (there's a podcast, too) and one of the features of the site (and program) is a puzzler where the audience is challenged with a (usually) automotive related conundrum.

I should mention the Car Talk podcast feed: http://www.npr.org/rss/podcast.php?id=510208
Some of the gag names are great: "Statistician Marge Innovera", "Ms. Shirley Wright", "Committee for Reviewing Answers to Puzzlers", and of course the Car Talk law firm "Dewey, Cheatam, and Howe".
--------
There's an occasional feature on the radio show called "Stump the Chumps" where a caller from a few weeks earlier is called back to see if the earlier diagnosis and predictions of Tom and Ray are correct. Most of the time, they are. But when the prediction is incorrect, the guys (both MIT grads, by the way) accept the correction humbly and with humor.
The WTBTS could learn a bit from this, but I'm not holding my breath for that to happen. -

Siamsa, I've been around quite a while and have been writing truth about "The Truth" on the Internet for close to twenty years and on this board since soon after its introduction.
Danny Haszard has left a rather large footprint on the Internet and it's been there for a long time. I live fairly close to Dan and I have reason to believe that he and his family are well known to JWs in Maine and also to quite a few in the Boston area. For the local JWs who must have known, to claim ignorance is far beyond credible belief.
I think the two unfortunate recipients of Haszard's response should sue, but the lawsuits should be pointed to Brooklyn, not Bangor. -

There may be grounds for a lawsuit by the two JWs against their KH elders and perhaps the WTBTS US branch as well for failure to execute due diligence with respect to failure to train and failure to warn.
Regardless of what you might think about Danny's actions, there was without doubt a complete f*ckup by the JWs who allowed the hapless two saps to try and convert the most noted anti-JW in New England. -

It's been around for twenty years and is one of the most popular programs on NPR. It's website is http://cartalk.com (there's a podcast, too) and one of the features of the site (and program) is a Puzzler where the audience is challenged with a (usually) automotive related conundrum.
Well, for the first time I decided to answer the Puzzler question by email. I got a standard confirmation email in return, and I'll copy it here for others to read. (Note the fourth paragraph.)
--------
Thanks for sending in your puzzler answer. Imagine how excited you'll be if we choose your response as the correct, winning answer! In case you were wondering, here's the process we go through to select each week's winner:
First, we have to be certain you have the correct answer. We start by
sending your answer to Paul Murky, at Murky Research. Murky, working with our Statistician Marge Innovera, will place your puzzler answer in one of two heaps: "not even close" and "pretty much right."
Assuming it passes by Paul and Marge, your answer will then be zipped along to Central Processing, where it will be date and time stamped, and searched for attached currency. Next, it will be shipped electronically to our Correct Answer Verification Center, where our legions of lackeys once again search your answer for currency-- just in case someone at Central Processing missed it. Then, they make certain that your response fits the criterion we have established for correct answers.
Please note that since we're often unsure of what the right answer is
ourselves, we have very wide latitude in determining what constitutes a correct answer. Incorrect answers, however, will be sent to the Jehovah's Witnesses, for immediate inclusion in their mailing list.
Lastly, correct answers will be sent to Ms. Shirley Wright, who operates under the auspices of the Committee for Reviewing Answers to Puzzlers. There, operating under complete secrecy, Ms. Wright will pick a winner.
If your response is selected as this week's winning entry, we'll announce your name on the air. Youýll also get a gift certificate to our Shameless Commerce Division, which if youýre smart, youýll trade to an unsuspecting coworker for a cup of coffee and twenty-five cents.
Cordially,
Tom and Ray Magliozzi

If I recall correctly, the generation doctrine that was dropped in 1995 was itself not established until 1930, some 16 years after 1914. It was part of a general chronological reorganization that followed the 1925 Big A prediction failure.
In 1973, the talk among the R&F was that the "age of understanding" for those alive in 1914 must have been at least 16 years old and was probably closer to 21. Coincidentally, the latter number just happened to be Freddie Franz's age in 1914. Hey, maybe he started the 21 year old rumor himself. -
