Did man go to the moon?
by sleepy indid man go to the moon?.
just watched an amazing programme that claimed the moon landings were faked.i was supprised at how compeling the evidence against a moon landing was.anyone know more about the subject?.
if it is true that this didn't happen it raises a whole lot of questions about how trust worthy our governments are.

Could people be resurrected?
by sleepy ini want to look at the possiblity of whether people, at least in theory, could be resurrected.
when i was a witness i could see a major problem with the concept of a resurrection,as understood by the society.trouble is i found it hard to explain to people, and only others who had thought of it themselves seemed to understand.
basicly if a person dies, and you resurrect that person by copying all his parts exactly is that the same person coming back to life or, a new person with the same memories and feelings?well to me its only the same person if they have continuity of existance.

JosephMalik Sounds like the old WT argument against heart transplants. They taught that you take on the personality of the donor as if the heart was the center of emotions. That lasted for a few years before they canned it. Everything that we are is stored in our minds not our muscles. There is nothing to debate here.
Sorry but I think you have missed my point entirely and is the opposite of what you just said.If a resurrection is just a recreation of the makeup of our minds then that does not garentee the continuation of consciousness from the dead person to the new one.You can have identical twins, or a clone of an individual(Sheep anyway)the twins each have their own consciousness even though the brain structure is the same, the clone also has its own consciousness.
A resurretion is only good if you continue to live consciously in the new body.If it is just a copy of you that is not you,but no one else could tell nor the clone of you, who would have your memories and personnality but would be starting fresh as a conscious being from the point he was made. But you would die and stay dead while a new person take your place. You would never"wake up".
There has to be a reason why consciousness is localised to individuals , and why my personnal consciousness is not experianced by anyone else.

I hate being a phoney!
by Matty ini need a vent guys, i hope you all don't mind!
i'm not sure what has happened to me today of all days, but i just can't fight back the tears.
i guess it must be the pretence fatigue kicking in.

Matty what a big phoney you are!
Only joking.
I don't envy your situation , it was hard for me to leave and I didn't live with my family.
I put every thing off thinking I've got forever to live that can wait .But we do have only one life a we must make the most of it.My father has been a witness since his earlly twenties, he's now 53, and will be dead in a year from cancer, he has had no life apart from the witnesses, every Tuesday , Thursday, Saturday, Sunday plus study , elders meeting , quick builds etc.
Don't end up like him.

Josephmalik
"The only problem that I see is a compilation of stupid arguments that have no basis in scripture."
This comes from a guy that says,"Your depiction if therefore not based upon logical, scriptural thought."
Joseph I do think it is possible for people to be resuerrected if you had the right technology, i was trying to demonstrait that a person is more than memories and personnality and this would have to be considered too.
There is nothing wrong about forming a hypothetical situation to test if and idea might or might not work.

Yes I was going to bring up the idea of a "soul", but what that means is so open to question and I'm not sure that it exists in the biblical sense. And that stll leaves the queston of what a soul is.
I suppose one thing I am trying to show is that the witness understanding of a resurrection and "soul" carnt be right or in line with the bible.A resurrection has to be more than a cloning, the origianl person has to continue to be conscious in the new body. For example if Jesus was transfered from heaven, what was transfered? It wasn't his body or his memories. If a person was raised to heaven what part of that person goes to heaven and makes him the same person?
Even if you don't believe in the Bible or that man has a "soul"or a least the brain creates a "soul", its obvious that something strange happens when the brain opperates , that transends its physical parts and location. If at the moment we can clone people does that mean that in the future with futher understanding we could resurrect people?
Surely if we can live in the first place we can live again.
