I think a lot of so called alternative medicines could be put under the label of scam including homeopathy, crystal healing, aromatherapy and quite a few others. Spirit mediums, and astrologers are reprehensible also for taking people for a ride. People also sell shares in companies that claim to have invented some new supper energy saving power device, (cold fusion, perpetual motion machines etc) people buy share or franchisees in the hope of getting rich when oil runs out. Even countries have invested heavily in such things in the hope of not getting left behind, and cleaver people have been able to milk government out of millions of pounds. But what is amazing is that many of the practises actually believe what they are doing even when the evidence is starring them in the face. It seams the human flaws that got us to be Jehovah?s Witness actually affect all humans and at some time in life most people fall for some bad idea or another.

* Jehovah has never given any dreams or visions to the Governing Body, and they do not hear voices (I can post quotes upon request). * Yet, Jehovah still communicates to the Governing Body in a mysterious, unexplainable way, using (1) His active force, (2) the anointed ones who died and are in heaven, (3) Michael the Archangel, (4) the other angels. If the Witness prg is right than at some point along they way at least one of their teachings must have been given to a member of the governing body directly by one of these means.Of course they can't say which one/s as then they couldn't use their power as the governing body to withdraw a belief at any time.

Only science can help us understand the universe. What is science though? It is: The study of the physical world and its manifestations especially by using systematic observation and experiment. Any attempt to understand the world outside of this methodology fails. You cannot state something to be defiantly true unless you have documented this by detailed observation backed up by other people?s confirmation. (Observation in this case means, the careful observing and recording of something that is happening for example, a natural phenomenon.) You cannot explain an event or natural phenomenon (Any phenomenon that?s is real, is by definition natural) without the use of proper testing and experiment using techniques that rule out alternate causes or explanations .The results should be backed up by other being able to repeat your experiment with the same results. If the theory is true, you will be able to make predictions based on it and these will turn out to confirm it. If what you believe in does not conform to these principles it is likely either not true, or at best awaiting confirmation. What man has learnt through the centuries is that we cannot trust our intuition or our parents.We must test what we believe or think may be true. When man has properly tested and confirmed ideas this has resulted in progress,(computers,cars,jet engines,TV,phones,etc etc) and technological advancement. When they have carried on regardless we see disillusioned people(religion) fraud and quackery(religion and vast amounts of so called alternative medicines). Be aware.

Chilling experience
by TallTexan ino.k....most people that know me know me to be a rational and logical person not prone to hype or the sensational.
nor am i infatuated with the supernatural as many jw's/ex-jw's are/were.
with that said, let me relate what happened to me at work last night.. on saturday night, we had four bad burns come in.

I'm of the opinion that people who related extraordinary stories should expect people to be sceptical. In fact people ought to be sceptical, otherwise we who believe anything anyone told us. Since you are likely to be telling the story to people who don?t know you, that adds further latitude for scepticism on our part. The is no scientific evidence of a detached consciousness or a spirit realm. Scientific analysis does confirm that our brain can and does cause us to see images and hear sound or touch that are created by or brain and are not the result of stimulus from the outside world. In fact all of our sense are created in the brain and in every day life are set off by or bodies receiving stimulus. A bitter taste is not contained in foods but rather food contains chemicals that set off taste buds on or tongue that send a message to our brain to create a bitter taste. If anyone can truly rule out the probability that the brain caused us to experience something unusual, they may have a case for arguing for spirit and such things, as it is not properly scientific tests have ever brought positive results when used to test for paranormal events.

Classical Composers & Movie Soundtracks
by dh ini love all kinds of music and mostly listen to classic fm when i drive in the uk, being away a lot i have to rely on my .mp3 collection most of the time, or tune in online.. anyway i recently discovered a composer by the name of ludovico einaudi and i think his music is absolutely awesome, listening to it is like learning to breathe again, it's beautiful.
anyway i like a few other composers of contemporary classical type music such as john williams who does mostly movie soundtracks and a few others, and i wondered if anyone else out there was really into any contemporary classical music, movie compositions or full on classical compositions or anything like that?.
