Yeh I think th UK is a great place to live, I just don't go around boasting about it.....usually. Ultimutly there is no "best" country different countries will suit different types of people.I can think of a ton of things I like about Britian that I don't think I'll find else where, but over countries offer things the UK can't.Like Sun for example. When someone boasts about their country though it comes across like this "Glad I don't live in YOUR country", when people call a country "the land of the free" it sounds like "the only country thats free"

Its the attitude guys.If some goodish looking person walks down the steet and shouts out "look I'm so good looking," we would all take the piss. All nations have flaws in them, in the way they run and the societies created by the govermental systems and the general beliefs of the populance. What pisses people of is unfounded boasts of "we are the best" variety. Two "bests" of the USA I can think of of the top of my head are richest single nation (european union is richer:) and highest murder rate in the western world.Doesn't do well to boast or we will have fun picking out the flaws.

Do you know I hardly ever notice the subtitles when I watch foriegn films, can't believe that some people wont watch foriegn films because they have to read. I hope you all watch in subtitles no dubbing. Worst thing you can do to a good foriegn film is add dubbing, it losses all it character.

The British NHS........ What is your view?
by ScoobySnax inthe nhs is a hot issue at present with the forthcoming uk elections pending in may, both main parties are trying to monopolise the issue of our health service.
it is a unique service where faults of course can be found (as in the current news story) but having worked and given my best for the last 15 years in it, i feel proud of it.
what experience do you/have you had of the nhs?

"I think the British copied our system" cough cough splutter! No definatley not. I would also like to add that the american system is not the american system, its just private health care ,which we all have the choice of in other countries too.

Do We Really Have Free Will?
by frankiespeakin ini personally don't think so.
the reason why i say this is because we don't know where our conscious thoughts come from.
what i mean is,,that before a thought comes into our consciousness where was it and why did it come into the conscious?

The whole concept of freewill if flawed and ill-defined. If we really had free will in the fullest sense then we could never make choices as there would be nothing directing us to a certain decission (spelling?), because if we are being directed,by knowledge or emtion, then wheres the free will?If were not being directed our descission is random, as its not based on, or caused by anything.

Isn't it mad that flying in Britain is cheaper than the train. Cardiff to Glasgow on the train is over £130 yet you can fly for about £30.You can fly to Spain for less than it cost to tack a train to London.

Please all foreigners note you must book trains in advance (a least a week) in good old Britian otherwize you are going to get well ripped. You can pay up to 5 times as much if you buy a ticket on the day of travel.

"Could you please tell me how far Newcastle is from your place?? Is it in bus/taxi distance to the fest??" As long as you consider £300 ok for a taxi ride you should be ok. Actually Newcastle is quite far away (relatively speaking) about 300 miles.
