Personality transplants?
by sleepy intheres a report in the mail on sunday that states "new study shows how organ patients can take on traits of donors".
it goes on to report on a scientific study were people who recieved organs from dead people took on traits they nether had before but were traits of the donor.. "the doctors say that one explaination is that memory and learning is not restricted to the brain, and that other cells in the body have the ability to store information-so called cellular memory".
some examples are woman with heart lung transpant develops cravings for food she previously didn't like but donor did, 29 year old woman goes from gay to stright after having heart of teenage girl , 47 year old woman develops a giggle the same as 14 year old she recieved heart from.. now i don't know whether there findings are valid or not but if true i wonder whether jw will go back to beleiving the heart is the center of your personnality.. anyway there could be another explaination for this.. maybe the stucture of our organs causes our body to need or desire different things.so the desire is not actually in the organ but the organs stucture puts different demands on the body for nutriants etc, which in turn effect the brain and you desires.

I wasn't saying the newspaper was right by the way just quoting them.
Some of the research i have done would tend to agree with Erich though.
Memory remmeber is not just visual or fact related.Your muscles have a type of memory also you feel emotions in your gut because of cells that exist there and send mesages to your brain. If you think of it though there is no conceptual reason why the brain should be the only centre of memory in our body.
Were does the brain end and the body start?
I belive we are more complex than that and we should not view our body as seperate from the brain , but that it is all part of a intricate system. -

Now i don't know whether there findings are valid or not but if true I wonder whether Jw will go back to beleiving the Heart is the center of your personnality.
Anyway there could be another explaination for this.

I would argue that curry is british by adoption.
At least the type we eat in Britian.
Did you know there are more Indian resturants in london than Dehli.Do you have Kebab houses in the States?

The Anointed Remnant:- Are They Really Anointed?
by stevieb1 inthis has been something that has been in the back of my mind for quite a while.
are those claiming to be of the anointed amongst jehovah's witnesses really going to heaven?
many jw' view them as being on a higher spiritual plain than the average jw and that they view the bible as a personal letter to them.

I never seen any proof that people who claim to be chosen by God are such.
If they could give proof then maybe , but as they say its a feeling inside.
I think the're going to the same place as the rest of us , hell!
Oh, I mean the commom grave of mankind. -

A question of loyalty.
by sleepy inwhat is the most dangerous aspect of jehovah's witnesses?.
well last night i watched on the news how another terrorist killed six people at a party in isreal.avenging the deaths of his fellow palestinians by killing innocent jews.. he was being loyal to his dead friends and the political / terrorist organisation he belonged to.. last year we watched when how an organisation encouraged people to drive planes into buildings at the expense even of their own lives.. how much of that act was hatred and how much loyalty to a cause?.
i believe one of the most stupidly dangerous things you can do in life is allow someone else to dictate what you think.

Well last night I watched on the news how another terrorist killed six people at a party in Isreal.Avenging the deaths of his fellow Palestinians by killing innocent Jews.
He was being loyal to his dead friends and the political / terrorist organisation he belonged to.
Last year we watched when how an organisation encouraged people to drive planes into buildings at the expense even of their own lives.
How much of that act was hatred and how much loyalty to a cause?
I believe one of the most stupidly dangerous things you can do in life is allow someone else to dictate what you think. Even worse is to follow a human or organisation without question out of loyalty.
Once a number of years ago while on the ministry a friend asked me “ would you do anything God asked?”
I though for a while and said no, I would only do something if it was reasonable.
He looked at me for a few seconds and said “shouldn’t we just trust Jehovah?”
That has never, as far as I can remember been my attitude.
I believed that there was evidence for all Jehovah's witness were asked to do.
When I learnt differently it wasn’t a question of loyalty but one of truth that mattered.
Yet I must believe that I was the exception rather than the rule amongst Jehovah's witnesses. As were many now on this board. We never bought into the loyalty business. We thought it was the truth on evidence not out of loyalty to God or an organisation claiming to represent him.Certainly this type of unquestioning loyalty is not unique to Jehovah's witness.
Through out history people have been loyal to kings , queens , religious figures , political parties and families. Often this loyalty has been without question.
Much of the worst bloodshed and suffering has been caused by people showing loyalty to others.
The problem comes when your loyalty comes before your thinking or reasoning ability and rules out personal choices and conscience . A member of your family may have committed a crime he tells you he is innocent and out of loyalty and love you ignore evidence that points to his guilt. You live in a country which has a policy that causes suffering to certain innocent people but fight for your land in war.
You go along with friends when they joke and make fun of some one they don't like .
Although loyalty isn't the only issue involved here it is a major factor. So how far should loyalty go?
Well it easier to say were it shouldn’t go.
Loyalty should not override your conscience or your free thinking ability.
Loyalty is reserved for sticking to friends and family when they are in the right but it would be easier for you to abandon them or lose out in some way.
No one should expect friends and others to be loyal to them no matter what they do .
If I do wrong my wife should not defend me out of loyalty but rather point out my error.
If I expect absolute unquestioned loyalty then I am a selfish person who thinks to much of himself. To tell people that they are unloving or evil if they are not loyal under any circumstance as the governing body has done through its publications and journals is wrong .It is the same mentally diseased reasoning that has caused much suffering in this world.

Why do us men do all the bad stuff?
by sleepy init seams to me that through out history men have allways commited the worst crimes against humanity.. from despot rulers to serial killers and petty crime , men do the most.. yet to me it seams that on a personnal level men get on better with each other than women.. women are often very senseitive and take offence much more easily.. they can be very bitchy and manipulative.. often men will have an aurgument with a friend and the next day all will be forgotten , while a women can take years to forgive.. so what is it about mens psychology that makes them commit worse crimes than women?.
or it there just the fact that they are physicaly stronger?.
i wonder that if in the future , women are in positions of power more that they will act worse than men have, or if they will show more compassion for others?

Do you think JWS are a cult?
by Trixie indo you think that the jw religion is a cult?
i believe that it is, but i wanted to get other people's opinion.
-
sleepy
Yes.
Cult definition:devotion to a person or a thing.
devotion definition: great love or loyalty.
Are the Jw's required to be loyal to the governing body , to the extent that they are not allowed to think diferently?
They are a cult. -

We had some tramps come to the sunday meeting once.
They sat on the front row and talked loudly to each other for the first five minutes. Then they got their sandwiches out at which point the speaker stopped his talk and ask for them to be removed.
the tramps told him to F*#% off.
In came the MS's to escourt them out one walked out on his own but the other wasn't going and punched one of the attendants to the floor.Another time in the book study in an answer to a question in the reveltion book a sister said " president clinton , what a dick head"
The study carried on like nothing happened.
Oh yes and there was a study who answers "I wish hitler was dead".
