  i am in fact a monkey.. i just wanted to see things from a humans perspective.. all i seem to do though is scratch my arse all day.. its not very different really.

  I belive the watchtower will fall.

  i belive the watchtower will fall.. maybe not now but in ten or twenty years its really going to be struggling.. it will be obvious to most in a few more years thay armageddon is not coming , 1914 is wrong etc.

  "apostate knowledge" will become much more widespread due to the internet.. it is different to other religions in the fact that everyone is looking forward to armageddon in their life time.

  it is the driving force for witnesses and will cause it to die.armaggedons no-show will cause bitter disappointment .. those who have left already , and have taken their families with them have stunted future groth as this is mostly made up of children of believers .. people are becoming better educated and more knowledgeable in general.. all the elderly ones will have died, with no link to the past ,and no armaggedon enthusiasm will die out.. this generation of witnesses may be the last.. (then i woke up)or did i?

  well, to bring you guys up to speed, here is what happend this weekend.

  i told my wife how i was feeling and why i didn't believe the wt was not god's org.

  it went pretty bad.

  " Jehovah works on his own timetable. Time has little meaning to Jehovah. In his and Jesus' dealings with people before, they have gradually given the truth out. To me its like a stream of knowledge coming from Jehovah."

  Lets imagine God did gradualy give information out before.Did God also give wrong information out, then gradualy correct it a little bit , then a bit more?What purpose does that serve.
  If you become a witness today you have all the "correct" info straight away.Why couldn't God reveal that before?
  I carnt see that pattern in the Bible, can you?
  Anyway saying we have the "truth" is different to just having some right information. It implies that what we belive is completely right , yet as you know that is not the case.
  If Jehovahs witnesses had lots of things wrong but some truth , how are they different to the Catholic church or others.Mabye God is revealing truth gradualy to them as well.

  "There are inaccuracies, but the Org DOES change their beliefs when they see that they are wrong."
  No they dont.For example in the 70's they had information to show that "this generation will not pass away" was not literal and that 1914 and 607 BCE are wrong dates.
  Also in the 70's a majority of Governing Body members voted that civil service could be allowed,but this was not changed till the 90's hence thousands went to prison for many years even though most GB members viewed it as ok.
  They have only changed beliefs when there is no more choice.

  "Other religions don't do this."
  Yes they do many religions have changed beliefs when they are seen to be in error.Does the Ctholic chuch still burn people who belive the earth is not the centre on the universe?

  Well that all depends on whether Jehovah has anything to do with the witnesses.If he doen't you're going to have a long wait.
  What if (again) a Catholic said that about his religion, what would you say to him?
  Now say that to yourself.

  "One last point is that in bible history, people directed by Jehovah have made mistakes. Moses, David, and others all were being led by Jehovah when they messed up. It wasn't God or his orginization at that time that was wrong, just these individuals. Just my 2 cents."

  The issue is not whether people used by God can make errors, but whether the society has evidence of being used by God.
  Did God direct people to follow in the errors of these men?
  Does this mean (again) that even though the Catholics church makes errors they are still chosen by God?
  Did Moses or David say not to have private ideas as regard understanding God , but only have their ideas?

  Mavman.

  What does what someone has to offer got to do with anything.
  If I have terminal cancer and the doctor says , "don't worry about you're going to be alright, just go home and watch lots of telly and it will go away" and another "look I'm sorry , you're going to die".
  Does this mean I should listen to the first guy , because he has somethinhg to offer?

  Just because someone carnt offer you a purpose in life or promises for the future does not make them wrong.

  Sometimes it takes a while to get things sorted in our head.

  Lets have a look.
  1.1914 not the start of "last days"And the GB knows it but dont tell the witnesses.
  2.Governing body demands you only have their thoughts , even privatly about the Bible.Independent thinking is wrong.
  3.GB condems other churchs for being joined with the wild beast the UN , while being itself a member.
  4.Governing body, has no proff they are chosen by God.
  5.Publications contain mis-quotes and errors.
  6.Children are allowed to die if they need blood , yet bible does not command this.
  7.The rules on blood are inconsistent ( you can take nearly all components of blood seperatly but not together etc.)
  8.All predictions have failed.
  9.Witness are not told how governing body comes to it decisions nor do they know their qualifications.
  10.Beliefs have been changed constantly through out their history.
  11.No proof that Jehovahs witnesses are better or more moral people than many non-witnesses.
  12.People not allowed to critersize the society or question its beliefs.
  13.Witnesses have own version of the bible , yet the translators credentials are not made known.
  14.The name Jehovah not found in any manuscript of Greek scriptures.

  Plus zillions more.
  Are any of these reason good enought not to trust the Governing Body with your life?
  Do more reaserch if you are unshure.
  Don't fall for the trap of thinking you are bening critical as if this is a negative thing.Would you not encourage a Catholic to be critical of his religion?

  Can Jehovahs witnesses do any thing good?

  with the amount of things we can find wrong with the jehovahs witness organisation i feel i must ask , did we do any thing good as witnesses?.

  i was helped to be more honest and caring by the information in the magazines, would i have changed other wise , i don't know?.

  so some good is done , but on a minor scale .. but is this information printed about honesty morals etc,done out of concern that we should be better people , or concern that we should obey the rules of the organisation?.

  I was helped to be more honest and caring by the information in the magazines, would I have changed other wise , I don't know?
  So some good is done , but on a minor scale .
  But is this information printed about Honesty morals etc,done out of concern that we should be better people , or concern that we should obey the rules of the organisation?
  It probably depends on who wrote it, I guess.

  I really belive that the majority of ordinary witnesses are just trying to do what they think is right.But that following the leaders , who claim higher authority is what causes things to go wrong.

  I believe though that most of what is writen is done by sincere people who belive they have the truth.But sincereity is not enought.
  People need to take responsabilty for their thinking and actions.I just can not understand why so many are disinterested in learning for themselves and just want to be told what to do.

  Maybe that is one of the problems. People may sincerely want to do what is right , but do not trust themselves to make the right desicions.Or maybe we have an inbuilt desire to look up to other people and follow them.
  Maybe this go's back to animal insticts. Following the leader of the pack. Maybe some just havent lost this desire.

  I've sort of wandered off subject here.Oh well.

  Return visits

  man i used to hate doing return visits.. at one time i worked with a lot of pioneers and they always did a load of return visits.. but most people they called on were either elderly and liked someone to talk to or people who may have been polite , or took the mags on the doors , but had no real interest.. i used to hate the way poeple would say to call back on the "intrested ones" as nearly no one you call on is interested in being a witness.. yet most witneeses cant see this.any sign of a conversation or just looking at the mags and every thinks they are interested.. so most of these pioneers just ended up irratating people who were just being polite, by repeatedly calling on them.. sometimes after a few weeks , the person would just disappear , you knew they were hinding behind the door or something.. so i hardly ever had return visits as i found i could quickly tell whether someone is being polite or had a real interest in tallking, although i kept some calls going just so i could count them.. succsessful pioneers are just the ones who cant read the signs of disinterest easily , and just wear someone down so much that they give in to their preaching.

  this good advice from the watchtower has served me well,.

  "by their fruits you will recognize them".

  so the first thing i always check for in a woman is her melons.. a nice firm pair is always a good sign.
