"But the basic problem of the JW doctrine still remains: a reincarnation of what? -- since no soul, no spirit, no "I" is supposed to survive death. Actually the JW resurrection is a kind of supercloning, the creation of an exact copy of you with your appearance, your personality and your memories -- but it is still not you. Of course he/she will not be able to tell, and neither will you..."
The amount of times I used to tell people this as a witness, none could understand what I was talking about. They couldn't get the idea that a copy is not you.You don't continue to exist like when you wake in the morning, it would just be someone who thinks they're you.
To be you there would have to be something more involved.

should crisis of conscience be on the net?
by sleepy ingot to be honest an say i'm supprissed cofc is not on the net in some offical form.
any good reason why its not there?
lets think, if i was a executive in a pharmaceutical company that gave out drug that were harmful, i then realised the drugs were bad, but the rest of the exectives didn't want to know and chucked you out,you lost your money and pension but you had the infomation to help people who had taken the bad drugs , would you, .

Lady lee you are missing the point , I bought the book already , I always buy things books CD's etc it not about that.
Its about other people having the opportunity to read this , now the internet is around.
Its not a cook book or some fairy tale , this information can effect peoples lives and the author helped put these people in that postion in the first place.
I feel a debt of responsability to people I talked to on the ministry (I never got anyone baptised but who know what I said could have helped people), imagine though I had written some of the magazines and books that had effected so many peoples lives in such a drastic way.
I would feel a larger debt.
Prime ministers , presidents and people in responsable postions should carry greater weight of responsabilty for bad actions as they effect more people.
I feel the same way about religious leaders.
Is Ray Franzes need greater than those people he effected? -

Who knows?
But when does the information become more important than the person.
I think it does in this case.
How many other ex-JWs get the chance to earn money out of telling people the organisation they were once part of running is actually wrong?
"actually all that stuff in the watchtower was wrong , but you'll have to pay me to find out why"
It the principle I dont agree with , I don't mind buying a book knowing it cost money to make and people need to make a living, but which other EX-JWs do I send money to, I'm going to pretty poor after paying out to all those thousands stuck without pesions.
1.If the reason people are paying for the book is to support Ray Franz in his old age then they should be giving money to all those in the same position.
2.If they are paying for the cost of making a book, then in order to reduce costs it could be put on the net it would then just cost the hosting fee and the time to put it there. It would then be much more freely accesable. -

This is not about whether people should be willing to buy a book (I did)but whether the information should be freely available, so that anyone can read it.
Franz is just a person like you and me, no better , he does not deserve more than anyone else.If he has information that could help others why not make it available. This is not about being cheap but being kind and fair to those you yourself may have affected in your life.
Lots of people left the truth with nothing, he was not the only one.
If it was on the net some witness may find the information and read it out of curiosity, tthey would be very unlikely to order the book.
If it was you wouldn't you just want people to know? -

1.Sell the information in a book.
2.make sure anyone who needed that information, could get it even if you had to give it for free.
maybe I'm missing something vitaly important in the mix. -

Absolute freedoms are a bad thing for large groups of humans.
Religion is just a name to put to believeing what you want.
If it was someones "religious" belief to kill all black people should they be allowed freedom of speech and to indoctrinate their children?
No0t if we want to live in a relativly fair society.
So absolute freedom of religion is bad for humanity as a group.
Part of the reasons we have constitutions and laws is to run a society that is fair for most people.
Allowing certain ectreme religious beliefs limits the freedoms of a portion of society, mainly the children of those believers who may only be expossed to those extreme beliefs. This can result in those children have an unfair life compared to others. They may in the case of Jehovahs witness be allowed to die instead of having a blood transfusion.
This is not freedom, but because of its extremity becomes a entrapment for those involved.
So I believe that Belgium is right to do what they are doing and the American way of is wrong . -
