Did they actually say the deceased wanted them to say that kind of stuff at the funeral, or did they just want you to make that assumption? Either way it's in horrible taste. A Baptist did that at my great grandmother's funeral and it pissed me off.

The JW funeral sales pitch . . .
by BereanThinker7 inso recently i attended a jw funeral.
i've been awake and faded for a bit now and so i already have realized the strangeness that is a jw funeral/memorial talk because its basically just a sales pitch to those attending that are non jws using a twist on the christian resurrection hope and barely speaks about the departed.
here's the thing that i noticed the that got me wondering, the pitch, at least at this talk, is given under the guise that it is what the fallen person wanted to be spoken at the funeral and as such its all about the "secondary" "great crowds" class hope.. so my question is had anybody ever attended the funeral talk for someone who claimed to be in the 144,000???.

A clue about dropping of reporting of numbers?
by sir82 inhey, did anyone notice this point from the wt study article for this past weekend (paragraph 2):.
certainly, jehovah is pleased to see that so many attend the memorial.
(luke 22:19) however, jehovah is not primarily concerned with the number of people who come.

Yeah, I'm with some of the other posters here, they want to downplay numbers in case the numbers don't go their way. If they do, they'll trumpet them to the highest heaven. One year I heard the CO spoke at the hall I studied and told the audience they broke a record or something

Beroean Pickets- please offer encouragement
by Lightgrowsbrighter infor many who have left jw.org, there is still a spiritual need and faith in the bible.
beroean pickets is one group/website where serious bible research and commentary, weekly critical reviews of wt studies, as well expose's of flawed wt opinion/doctrine- all backed by the bible- can be considered.
this vast amount of work and research is all done by just a small group of our volunteer brothers and sisters.

Just a couple thoughts: whether the guy seeks followers or not, he's got followers in a sense. I'm against disfellowshipping and all that nonsense but that doesn't change the fact that people listen to him, and honestly, good for him and good for them, they find meaning in his words, he should be proud of that.
Overall though i gotta agree with dubstepped: this won't change a thing.

Brain Teaser
by BourneIdentity ini’ve always wondered about this one.
if the bible says there will be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous, does that mean all mankind that have died will come back to life?
if so, what’s the incentive for jws to have an urgency to preach and save people?

Remember the bible doesn't say that there's gonna be a resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous: the book of Daniel says that, and the book of Revelations says that.

Who Resurrected Jesus?
by snakeface inone of the heresies of the wt is denying the divinity of christ.
during this "memorial season" they say that jehovah (god the father?
) resurrected jesus.

This kind of discussion comes down to who would win in a fight Batman or Superman? It doesn't base itself in reality, it's based on your take on verses some Elder(s) passing themselves off as the apostle John wrote down 1900 years ago. I couldn't care less what they think or what they claim Jesus said.

The everyday fears of a JW
by days of future passed inremember how much your life revolved around fears?
fears of how going to a new place, might put you in harms way?
how bad the world was and how even talking to people, might find you robbed etc?.

As an ex Baptist I'm getting flashbacks of my childhood. The pastor would warn us about 'worldly people' and that Satan would use them to deceive us and lead us into sin. Ridiculous fear mongering bullshit.

Do Any Of You Dream About JW Friends You had ?
by smiddy3 inwhat prompted this topic was a dream i had last night where i was engaged in a conversation i had with an old friend where i was trying to prove where the jw`s were wrong from their own bible.. and this is not the first time i have had such dreams.. often times i have had dreams about people i have known in the religion .. remember i have been away from the religion for more than 26 years now and in a totally different part of the country .. i now wonder if any of them ever dream about my wife and i ?
but that`s something i`ll never know.. do any of you have any such experiences ?.
maybe i`m spending too much time on this site lol.

I don't remember dreaming about any specific Jehovah's Witnesses I met a few years ago, but I do dream about them collectively now and then. I hear some mention of them in a dream, or some people I don't recognize are Jehovah's Witnesses.

Who is The Lord?
by JW Answers inthe jehovah's witnesses believe that only the father is lord god, however by searching the scriptures we can identify that there are more than one person in the godhead, and the lord jesus as well as the holy spirit are lord.. for those who are interested in learning, feel free to watch this new video..

Love is alive? A coherent being? That doesn't make any sense. How could a being not be coherent?

I think I made up my mind
by paradiseseeker ina month ago i travelled alone to italy for three days and i had the opportunity to visit the beautiful florence and re-visit many parts of rome.. but most importantly, i had the opportunity to stay alone and think about my situation and to make up my mind.. i've had very clear for almost 5 years that i will eventually leave the religion, but i couldn't decide when.. but now i know : i will leave on april 20th, the day after the memorial.. that day i will talk to my parents (this is by far the hardest thing to do) and soon afterwards i will talk to my closest friends, then i will send my disassociation letter.
i know that i will let them down, i will hurt them, most probably some of them will cry... but i need to live coherently for the first time in my life.
i'm sure that living in this contradiction is affecting and will affect my mental health and it's time for me to help myself instead of others.

You're not letting anybody down, and even if you are, who cares? Live your own life. Make your own decisions. Don't let them decide your life for you
